The cooling systems on these DMCs are pretty crazy. The radiator is all the way in the front with over flow. If there is one leak in the system, they can easily run hot. The overflow container is pressurized and have a tendency to be one of the weak parts in that system. If it doesn’t leak; it probably has air entrapment in the system. They require a procedure to properly bleed them.
I thought all prices thrown around were ridiculous. Except maybe $12k, that seemed realistic. If people are paying $30k for used Deloreans, they need to grow the hell up and get over Back to the Future, and use their heads for a change. Are nerds still buying these and converting them, instead of doing something unique to a car? Trend followers are idiots, and most of the world is filled with them.
That is the way pawn shops work. They want to get at least double what they pay for it. If the owner of this DeLorean had some patience, he could get what he was asking for it. When you try to sell something to a pawn shop, you have to be willing to accept far less than what it is worth, just for a quick sale.
A bartender I was friendly with in Toronto had one painted red in the 90’s and she let me take it for a spin. I can confirm that at least the one I drove was pretty lacklustre at off the line acceleration but it did feel good and felt a bit better then my Supra but was slower for sure. Also such a pain in the ass to park in a lot, you can’t get out or in if someone is beside you. (One of her passengers smacked the door trying to get out).
