    One word: MALTA! You're welcome 😆 I dont sleep, super stressed, sometimes I don't even have time to drink water, exclusive pumper yet malta seems to help anyway lol. For the exclusive breastfeeders: nurse, nurse, and nurse that baby some more. Use a haakaa with suction on the other side. Exclusive pumpers: pump every 3 hours during the day, aim for 8 times and do not skip the overnight pump! (You can sleep for one 5 hour stretch, then get back to it). Oh and MALTA! 😂 I use legendairy milk supplements, I also use various herbs, galactogogues/lactogenic food in my diet but its really not that serious unless you're like struggling. Nurse that baby! See an IBCLC for flange sizing help/pump settings if you're a pumper or need help with latching for nursing. ❤

    I struggled with feeding because the nurses didn’t give me any information about how to feed with a flat and inverted nipple.They used the basic knowledge on me ,pinched(and tore my nipples to the point I bleed)expecting my body to react the same as someone with normal nipples.I had to work on pulling my nipples out,forcing my baby to nurse,and then work on my supply too(since the poor latching decreased my amount).Power pumping is what did it for me!Increased my supply to the point I don’t need formula anymore and baby gets full(still need to work on producing enough to create a stash).Also the whole calories thing?I’d call it bs,I gained 2kg the first week of pp yet my milk supply was still very low BUT eating a protein and vegetables/fruit rich diet helps the quality of your milk(makes it fatter therefore keeping baby full longer).So try to sleep,nurse baby as much as possible,power pump at least 1h a day and eat healthy!

    I wish someone would have told me about the feeding tube.. I would have never had to pause breastfeeding full time. I'm heartbroken about it but I got an electric pump to help.. I went from dripping to not even feeling a let down. It's very emotional for me rn.. because at first I had an abundance and my baby use to fall asleep feeding then it went to frustration while feeding then I gave her formula to supplement so she could be getting enough.. then frustration when offered the breast. She may latch for comfort maybe every other day.. but when she's hungry she wants the bottle. now I don't know if I will catch up to my baby's needs because I have to go back to work. I'm sad about that fr. In the past week I may have produced 5-8 Oz for my girl. She's had more formula this past month than when I first brought her home. I miss the bonding experience of nursing. I really do..

      Pumping after a feed teaches your body to create more milk, and you can use the milk you pump for your baby’s next feeding while your body catches up to the increased demand. Your body will respond quickly, since baby naturally cluster feeds as they grow. Good luck!🤗💛

    • @KarmaKennedy
      @KarmaKennedy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hand expressing works just fine. You don’t need to pump for an hour straight. Just try short 10 min hand expressing or manual pumping throughout your day. After each feed is best. It’s not about how much comes out, you just want to empty your breast so your body triggers more milk production. The feeding tube method will help your son want to nurse. You can get a free feeding tube at a breastfeeding clinic. Are there any in your area?

      Absolutely Kaila! You can definitely start lactating again, but you’ll need to be consistent with deep latching baby and nursing as often as possible. 😂🤣 I know what you mean, that’s why I prefer the capsules. Try to sweeten with Stevia, as much as you can stand. The sweet will cut the bitter taste. How much lemon did you add? I would start slow with any new herbal remedy. Start with one cup a day for a few days and then add another cup per day. Increase it slowly until you start to see results. You don’t want to overdo it though so maybe no more than two cups a day. It also depends on how concentrated you make the tea. 🤗💛

      I think you should pump when baby is sleeping

    • @KarmaKennedy
      @KarmaKennedy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! It’s not about how LONG you pump, it’s more about how OFTEN you pump. You want to trick your body into thinking baby is cluster feeding and going through a growth spurt. Pump until your let down starts, when that happens you can stop after 2-3 minutes if you like, or you can go until you feel like no more milk is coming out.
      The more formula you give the less baby is drinking from you. This is partially why you may feel your milk is low. Try the feeding tube method with your formula and see if that helps. Good Luck Bassma!

    Why feed with a feeding tube?? What's happens with the body? Since the feedingtube is being fed with formula? I don't understand

    • @KarmaKennedy
      @KarmaKennedy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! This tip is for moms whose milk may not have come in yet, or are In the beginning of their breast feeding journey.
      This technique is the best of both worlds! While baby is nursing they get whatever golden goodness mom has to offer and at the same time they suck in formula through the feeding tube so they feel full and nourished.
      The reason for the feeding tube is to give baby enough food while still creating a demand for the body to produce milk. The more baby nurses the harder the body works to make more. If baby is bottle fed, it’s a missed opportunity to create more demand.
      I hope this helps!😁💛

    I’m 3 days postpartum and was breastfeeding my baby. I would nurse for hours and he would still be hungry afterwards. I started supplementing and decided to pump to see how much I was making. I’m only pumping 1oz of colostrum :( is this normal?

    • @KarmaKennedy
      @KarmaKennedy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! In the first few days your body is making colostrum and it’s a lot thicker than milk. Your pump probably won’t get a lot out. Your milk will start coming in over the next few days. You’re doing a great job by allowing baby to nurse often. Keep it up! It’s helping your milk to come in!
      Don’t worry about how much milk comes out when you pump. Babies are better at removing milk then breast pumps. Keep nursing baby as often as possible and pumping after each feed, it will definitely help your milk supply.
      Does baby have a good latch? Are you sore afterwards?

    • @Simply_Nargis
      @Simply_Nargis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for responding!! Yes, he has a good latch but as soon as he latches on, he falls asleep and it’s a struggle to get him to wake up and nurse. I’m afraid that if I keep giving him the bottle, he won’t want to drink from my breast anymore or he’ll have nipple confusion.

    • @KarmaKennedy
      @KarmaKennedy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No worries! So could be a couple things. When you latch him is he TIRED or hungry? My babies loved to nurse themselves to sleep.
      Try looking for hunger cues like rooting (head banging on your chest) or sucking his closed fist. Does he open real wide just before you latch? Is he already sleepy before he latched?
      You can also change your position so he’s not interested in sleeping. If he’s too comfortable he’s gonna fall asleep every time. You could do skin to skin, keeping him in just a diaper, or change your hold. If he likes cradle hold, try football hold.
      What’s his feeding routine?

    • @sevene7e
      @sevene7e 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      1 oz is super good! I was only pumping 5ml first few days of discharge.. your body is amazing and knows exactly how to feed your baby. Your milk supply will increase gradually as baby’s appetite increase correspondingly. Don’t worry too much about it. Just supplement for the first few days if you think you don’t have enough. Fed is best. Don’t need to feel guilty for providing formula.

      I know it can be hard to juggle all these things when you’re exhausted and looking after a new baby. If baby doesn’t want to latch you can try encouraging him with taste. Maybe hand express some milk into baby’s mouth to motivate them to want to latch. You’ll need to try hand expressing several times a day to encourage baby to the breast. Can you explain what you did with the feeding tube?

    • @KarmaKennedy
      @KarmaKennedy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      First you latch baby deeply on the breast. Then you slowly insert the feeding tube into their mouth without breaking their latch. If baby continues to nurse and the formula moves up the feeding tube, you’ve done it correctly.
      The feeding tube acts like a big straw, but because it’s so thin, baby only gets a little bit of formula as they nurse. This way baby doesn’t get nipple confusion (breast vs. bottle) and they are also nursing which teaches your body to make more milk. The more baby nurses the more your body will create. In the meantime, baby isn’t left hungry since they are also drinking the formula through the tube.
      Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions! 💛

      Hi Rocio! Congrats on your new baby! I totally understand your worry.
      First things first, count how many soiled diapers your baby is making over a 24 hour period. At this age, it should be at least 5-6 diapers (pee and poop combined). If baby is gaining weight, seems happy and energetic, and is soiling enough diapers, your milk supply is just fine.
      Breast pumps are good at removing milk from the breast but babies are EXPERTS. The pump removes only a fraction of what baby is capable of so please don’t worry about how much comes out. As your body gets used to pumping, you’ll see more milk over time. Don’t give up!
      The other thing to check is baby’s latch. Is baby latching on just the nipple or does baby have a good mouthful of boob?
      Hope this helps! 💛
