Interesting. If Russia would divorce itself from Western economies, why are so many western businesses still operating in Russia, and why is Kiev being urged not to strike Russia's oil production by the West? There is a problem in logic here I think that can only be cured by destroying completely Russia's capability to pump and refine oil and natural gas to allow Russia to ween itself from that evil Western trade and money.
I wonder if the author of that piece, Demitri Trenin, had thought his position out very well. Given the green light, the West could sure as hell oblige him.
The inability of Russia to pay for imports will eventually seal any leaks in the sanctions
and cause global recession... yeah smart we buy everything in from china

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged the challenging conditions faced by the country's armed forces, describing the situation on the battlefield as "difficult" during an interview with local media. He highlighted that the eastern region of Ukraine remains the focal point of approximately 90% of active military actions.
In the same media address, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, echoed Zelensky's sentiments, emphasizing the difficult situation experienced by Kyiv across most of the combat contact line.

"In total, the enemy launched 10 missiles and 88 air strikes, and carried out 71 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas," the statement read.

The Russians managed to take positions in the bird's nest and the Ukrainians are probably retreating west across the canal right now.

It does appear, as discussed by many military commentators, on all sides, that the tank is becoming obsolete. We know both US and Russian tanks have been neutralized, to be honest, and fair, by drones. Drones are going to evolve into better/cheaper Tank killers. I would like to hear about the legality of Ukraine declaring a blockade on all shipping in & out of Russian Black Sea ports. And warning that any violators face the possibility of being sunk. So I’m curious why the general press has removed the $300 billion frozen Russian accounts from its attention. If there was justification for freezing these assets, then certainly they should be subject to the proper use by Ukraine to both defend itself and rebuild its country. Why has the attention of the press now gotten misdirected and away from attention on this $300 billion that is desperately needed for Ukraine.
Theft, stealing and repercussions to the European banks in having a sovereign capital deposit removed that is effectively keeping them afloat.

Yes. Ukraine’s smashing it on the internet. In real life, however, not so much 😂
@@daydays12He is highlighting the futility of this propaganda that bears no relevance to the FACTS on the ground. That's the obvious purpose.
Russia has lost a third of its Black Sea fleet, its oil production is nearly 15% down because of Ukrainian drone attacks.
According to most estimates, every day of the war in Ukraine costs Russia $500 million to $1 billion.
That is up to $ 730 billion since the beginning of the special military operation.
Since the beginning of the special military operation at least 300, 000 Russian soldiers have been killed.
That is not a very good ROI ( return on investment).
The Russian people have paid about $ 600 billion and had more than 300,000 of their brothers, husbands
and fathers killed in return.
Another two years of the so very 'special military operation' will double these figures:
an investment of $ 1,200 billion with an ROI of more than 600 000 dead Russian bodies.
About 650000 educated young men have left Russia since the 'special military operation'
Six Ukrainian cities have been OBLITERATED.

Who is Russia's "new elite" being built of supposed war veterans (17:50)? Are they the Russians who did the most to help achieve Russia's war objectives in the first 18 months of war, such as Prigozhin (assassinated), Surovikin (disappeared), etc., or the Russians currently sacrificing their all, to simply be left to rot on the battlefield? Unless there are examples, this is simply Russian propaganda meant to help recruit soldiers and internal alliances. From where I'm sitting, those who show up to help Russia/Putin in this war are abandoned, deceived, and/or disposed of, and the only ones who benefit are the current Russian elites.
New elite is an internal propaganda term. It references war veterans in general.
