Thanks for posting Dan. In 1965 my Boy Scout troop took a 50 mile hike from Hurricane Hill to the Hoh River. We camped at ( the former) Lake Mills behind the Glines Canyon dam the first night. Of course we all took a swim before turning in. The next morning I and a buddy caught a ride on the front fenders of an old Packard sedan up the road to the decommissioned but intact Olympic Hot Springs resort. I clearly remember holding tight to the hood ornament while the youthful driver navigated that serpentine cliffside road, now a trail. We arrived hours ahead of the troop and spent the time in several hot tubs. The big swimming pool was empty, but still there, as were many cabins and the diesel powered electrical generation station. We were in awe of the deserted resort high in the mountains. Your video helped stir these old memories, and for that I am grateful.

Thanks for sharing that great story! I just was thumbing through a book about the Olympic Hot Springs at the PA library the other day. I’m including a link to my hike last summer over Appleton Pass, which was probably on the route of your hike over to the Hoh.

Is that a second gauging station at the damn? Not sure if I have seen that listed on USGS site

Not the one at the dam, but on the Olympic Hot Springs Road past the last house on the right on the high spot in the rocks.

@@dankari1730 What is that at the 16:29 mark in the video? (if you know!) thanks

I'm betting that gauge at the dam isn't operating anymore, it's never been listed online, as far as I know. Maybe the operator at the dam kept records of the flow. I'm always worried about dropping the camera when I'm along the rail on the spillway, so I really forgot about it.
