16:28 For clarification, the reason they say the government “owns” Cap’s shield and Falcon’s wings is because those things were literally created by the government and issued to them personally. The same would not apply to Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit, since he made it himself and it was declared in Iron Man 2 that the government could not claim ownership of it. Same concept applies to Banner and Thor. The government did not make Mjolnir (Thor’s hammer) or issue Bruce his gamma radiation. I hope this clarifies

Ross spent his entire career trying to get superhuman under his command (as evidenced in The Incredible Hulk).
He’s using the Sokovia Accords as a means to do that.
Meanwhile, each of the Avengers have illustrated in their own films trying to prevent their power falling into the wrong hands. Ross’ hands are the wrong hands.

In terms of purely legal liability for Winter Soldier his lack of will and presence of mind makes it tricky. If we were to accept that such a methodology existed in our own world I don't think it's a stretch to think that diminished or lack of decision making would absolve him of much of the guilt. Treatment through mental health professionals and likely long term oversight by the authorities would be in order, but not guilt in the sense of legal accountability.

It would be the same as if someone tech savvy hijacked the Ironman suit with Tony, helpless, trapped inside it - then comitted crimes with the suit. Would Tony be responsible for those crimes? No! Would Cap fight to save Tony? Yes, because that's just who he is.
Imagine a world ruled by Loki because the Avengers were told to stand down due to it costing too much money and too many lives (including theirs possibly) to fight Loki and the Chitari. How many people would have died under Loki's rule? What about Ultron? He was setting out to eliminate all humans - but because a much smaller amount died in the process of defeating him, that makes the world governments have a "good reason" to make the Avengers under their control... because they were all afraid if their dark secrets got out, the Avengers might come after them!

I loved the nostalgia. I remember that in the early 1960s, the comics had Captain America in charge of the "new" Avengers: Hawkeye, Wanda, Pietro, Giant-Man, and the Wasp (later Natasha, too). The Captain America stories back then often included these Avengers; many characters from the different titles overlapped regularly.

    -Doctor Strange (2016)
-Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (2017)
    -Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

    -Captain Marvel (2019)
    -Avengers: Endgame (2019)
    -Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
I thought you'd ended up missing a few movies before this, but ends up I was remembering the order wrong slightly. Yeah, this one served as an on-screen intro to a few characters, that get their official MCU welcome/origin movies a bit later. ^_^ And Phase 3 is, arguably, probably the strongest/best segment of the entire MCU.
Then they started doing a lot of TV series on D+ and other networks, with a few big screen movies interspersed between them.

I completely understand tony’s rage at bucky at the end. I think until that point, tony was operating under guilt and not logic and forgetting that governments are just as fallible as people… because they are made of people. Also, tony didn’t just go through the fall of shield/hydra initially like cap did. Tony and banner are slightly to blame for sokovia only because they created ultron. But wanda interfered in their heads. And hydra was still operating in sokovia. So even tony’s guilt there has to be spread out because he went to where the problem was. He created more problems on the way but the gov sucks. Sorry but gov oversight doesn’t make much of anything better, it makes it slower so more processing and thought can go into it and it can be challenged and debated. But many times the avengers don’t have time for that when they are being attacked and let’s not forget that the shield oversight panel was literally going to nuke NYC in the first avengers while they were still in the thick of things. So i completely understand tony’s feelings towards bucky and cap as a result, but as for the gov oversight, the UN could turn out to be just as corrupt as shield/hydra became. So not something you want determining your actions. In my opinion. I’m very skeptical of governments in general though.

    • @Alewaxon
      @Alewaxon หลายเดือนก่อน

You are correct, but you also have to analyze the other side of that argument... Steve, as the de facto "leader" of the avengers (it's him and tony, but certainly him when it comes to missions, strategy and running the team outside of the "administrative things") is not only saying "the safer hands are still our own", but there is a much bigger implication that screams "I'm protecting my position as the one that makes the calls"... Now, I'm not saying that Cap is doing it with bad intentions or that he isn't (in general) a person that has earned that spot to be trusted with large responsibilities... But Rhode's comment is very much on point when he calls Steve's position "dangerously arrogant" on his part; because he is basically not just saying "we know better", he is also saying "I KNOW better than THE ENTIRE WORLD"... That's 1 implication of his position... No matter what you think about governments and the people that conform them (which is valid), those people were elected by the citizens of each of those countries to represent them... So, another implication or way to perceive Steven's stance, from an outside POV, is that HE, the poster child for america (with all the geopolitical implications that title comes from given much of the perception of america around the world) is telling them that he doesn't trust or cares about who they pick to represent them and that when it comes to the little issue of, well, their lives, he is the one that knows best... the guy dressed with an american flag... how do you think that looks to a regular person in italy or russia or anywhere else for that matter?

I've always been Team Cap for two simple reasons:
    1) Despite the damage and death that occurred, had they NOT done anything the death toll would have been catastrophic. I feel bad that the son died in Sakovia, but imagine the island had been allowed to actually drop. (Funny enough, Ultron was Tony's fault anyways, hence his guilt leading his actions).
    2) The government had been proven multiple times to be corrupt.

It really comes down to the fact that people were using politics to control the power of the avengers for themselves. They didn't care about accountability they never seem to ever have to deal with the real fallout of their actions, when do politicians get held accountable, only the scapegoats. No this was a power grab in the guise of accountability perpetrated on the Avengers. They no longer had Shield so it created a power vacuum for control. And you are right Tony was trying to pass his guilt by making the overture of being held accountable. Ultimately Sokovia was Tony's fault. He avoided the blame because people didn't know the full circumstances and because Stark came in with all his money to smooth things over. Now true the Avengers needed accountability but given the alternative how could you side with the UN and political power grab it was obviously created on a lie with selfish, not altruistic purposes. The thing that made the Avengers right was it's isolation from the corruption that comes with governmental control. Even then the connection to Shield proved they couldn't escape that corruption. The question is how to have accountability and trust in a group that doesn't answer to anyone. I get it, why should someone else trust the Avengers? It's a hard call. I would trust Captain America over the UN any day. Rahm Emanuel said, "You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before." And that is exactly what was being done. When everyone is rushing to do something.. anything to fix an issue as fast as possible regardless of the details that is when you know you are getting scammed. They needed to slow down and figure out a realistic agreement with negotiations with the Avengers to come to a mutually beneficial situation. Shield had that but it was infiltrated by Hydra. I don't know what the best outcome would be but i can see Tony was wrong. His arrogance caused Ultron and his arrogance led to allowing the civil war to happen. Tony is a damaged man and it takes him a long time to come to terms with his trauma.

That's an understatement. In the comics, he is one of the most intelligent characters in Marvel Universe and universally acknowledged as the best strategist in the Marvel Universe. That is why he has been chosen to lead multiple teams at times including The Avengers and the Fantastic Four. What you see of Shuri's intelligence in ths MCU is stripped from T'Challa in the comics. MCU Shuri is nothing like the comics Shuri. Other than being T'Challa's sister and Wakandan, she is a completelt different character mostly made from qualities stripped from T'Challa. I never liked that they did that, but we all know why.

The MCU version of The Avengers is pretty stupid. This movie tried to call that out but that point just flew over a lot of people's heads.
In the comics, The Avengers always had oversight. They were government sanctioned. They even had government representation. They were never just vigilantes (not the main team) doing whatever where ever without accountability.
In the MCU, they just let them run wild. Silly. The idea that they could just go whereever they wanted without respecting borderlines or collaborating with law enforcement and militaries is just ridiculous. 😂😂. And then they just cause all sorts of damage and get up and leave for other people to clean up. It's just silly, ESPECIALLY since they were created under SHEILD....A GOVERNMENT AGENCY. The comics addressed this in a much more thoughtful manner.

How fast can Black Panther, Captain America, and Bucky/The Winter Soldier run? Well, Captain America was given a "Super Soldier Serum". Bucky and the other Hydra Super Agents were given a copied version of the serum and Helmut Zemo kills the agents in the end of this movie. Lastly, while this will be a mild spoiler, but the basis for the Super Soldier Serum comes from a plant that grows in Wakanda.... The same plant used to create the Black Panther. Basically, the serum enhances peak human abilities.... Such as beyond human strength but not Hulk level, beyond peak human speed, increased intelligence and strategizing, enhanced agility and stamina, regeneratize healing, and enhanced reflexes. So their top speed is probably about twice as fast as Usain Bolt... Somewhere I'd guess around 50-60mph. On a side note, Captain America has a Vibranium shield. The Black Panther has a Vibranium suit and claws, and Bucky has a robotic metal arm.

Yeah usually they don't group up till an avengers movie but RDJ wanted all the bits and top billing for things and they knew he was so popular they went from having little hints connecting movies and little easter eggs to just ham fisting what they think will make money into them. Some heros don't even get thier own movies without him.

It was hilarious, the recurring confusions about whether the correct movie was clicked (Cap America movie or Avengers movie).
Back in real time during marketing, people (me) were making fun of it a bit for being an Avengers movie in disguise 😆

re: the government ownership of the shield, the wings, etc... The Accords document they signed didn't give the governments right to ownership. They of course couldn't own whole individuals like Banner and Wanda, but the reason for the "ownership" conversation is because the shield and wings were manufactured by the government.
Falcon was enlisted (air force, I think?), and he flew the wings with his squad (as stated in previous movies), and the shield of course was issued to Steve Rogers during WW2. And once he was arrested, and since he wasn't a registered Avenger, they just confiscated it. They also don't own any of Stark's properties and suits, for example.

    1. Spider-man didn't get an origin story here because Marvel (rightly so) assumed that the Spidey origin had been done to death already with two different movies of the origin in the past 20 years.
    2. My big problem with the Sakovia Accords is that they were poorly administered. The UN drew up and approved the Accords to govern the Avengers before even telling the Avengers they were doing it. The Avengers needed to be involved in the drafting of the Accords. The UN are not the "subject-matter experts" here; the Avengers are. The people being governed by laws should have representation or input into the laws. The Avengers should have been directed to come up with their own set of oversight rules first. Then, if the UN had questions or issues with the Avengers' draft, they would have gotten together to hammer out the details. Here, it was handed to the Avengers as a fait accompli. Any effective use of the Avengers means they have to be able to react to emergencies immediately, without waiting for permission-by-committee, and it must also include the right to refuse UN orders to act. The Avengers are not a military branch of the UN. Cap is right about that part of it. But oversight is a good thing. It was just handled very stupidly by the UN here.

Barron Zemo isn’t just bitter with Tony. The Avenger’s are the reason his wife and child died in Sokovia. Those mobile phone audio messages he would listen to were from his dead wife. He wanted the Avenger’s to kill each other because he lacked the ability.

Spiderman movie rights are owned by Sony. Marvel had to negotiate to get him in this movie. Based on how successful it was, Sony lets Marvel use him (hence the name Homecoming) for a cut of the box office. Since there have been two modern origin movies, Marvel decided it wasn't necessary and to just start with him already having his powers.

Definitely shoulda been billed as an Avengers movie, but I think it had something to do with how many "Captain America" movies they contracted Chris Evans for.
I found it interesting how Tony and Cap sided on the accords. It seems like it woulda made more sense for Tony to be against it and Cap to be for it, since Cap is a soldier used to government oversight and Tony is more about Privatization. I get Tony's guilt and all, but it just seemed wierd.

Captain America "Civil War" aka Avengers 2.5 "Enter the Panther"

  • @RyoHazuki224
    @RyoHazuki224 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yeah most people call this movie "Avengers 2.5" because it involves most of the Avengers. I think they bill it as Captain America is because its mostly his story, it boils down to him trying to protect his friend while also standing up for what he thinks is right when it comes to the Sokovia Accords, the movie wants you to take up his side in that aspect.
Really though, they named this "Civil War" because there was a good long running comic story of the same name with two factions of Marvel characters all going at it. Not to get into too much detail but it was pretty epic to see generally "good guys" all going after each other. In those comics, there were a LOT more heroes fighting, like hundreds of them. It wasn't like the 6 v 6 fight we have here in this movie.

Here are some non-spoiler facts about Captain America civil war. Black panthers claws and suit are made from vibranium which is the same as cap shield. The Black panther is incredibly strong with reflexes and incredible instinct. Prince T'Chala is also highly intelligent because he designed his own suit. MCU Steve Rogers is stronger than his comic book counterpart who strength is around two tons. MCU Steve gets stronger with every appearance due to the fact if he does not work out his body will suffer atrophy and he'll lose his super strength so during the time of this movie his strength was around 15 tons. Spider-Man is 10 times stronger than Steve Rogers. Tony did give Peter Parker a upgraded suit but Peter Parker created his own web shooters with Will fluid tensile strength equal to a steel cable. Peter has hair all over his body that gives him the ability to stick to any surface is just his hand and feet hairs are the strongest. Peter Parker skin is equal to kevlar with a healing ability that could heal nearly fatal wounds within a day or two. Not to mention Peter has spider Sense which just doesn't predict incoming danger it can even to take threats days within advance of a incoming incident.

So to answer some of your questions, without really spoiling anything. The guy with the claws is Black Panther and his claws are made of the same material. That's why he could scratch Cap's shield. That's all I can really say for now.
Spider- man at least in the MCU makes his own web fluid canisters that attached to his wrist and he presses a button to shoot them out. In the older Spider-Man movies Peter Parker was able to just shoot them naturally from his wrist as in his body produced webbing.
As for Spider-Man's eyes changing, the suits somewhat mechanical in nature. Again without really spoiling anything let's just stay Stark has a hand in some things.

In the comic he was fully-fledged Spider-Man that teamed up with Tony Stark and the Accords, so I'm less mad at movies Spider-Man for teaming up with movie Tony Stark, who was way more of a mentor figure to young Peter Parker.
