Rajan continuously missed Nikhils point by saying 'make better product and it will sell, then go for pricing". What Nikhil really wanted to know if one should/would pick an inferior product just because it's made in india . Compare this to Prasanth , why was he not interrupted so often ? I agree to that
However, if you are not aware what makes Chinese goods so cheap?
The manufacturer in china gets rebate on the taxes which are paid as customs duty in India, America or Europe. They do this untill the local players are destroyed and total dependence on China occurs. Like USA is almost dependent on China.
It is called economic invasion, the govt should focus on manufacturing sector.
But as an individual we could try avoiding Chinese products and look for Indian manufacturer who is providing quality & price in our range. Completely boycotting is foolish.

I had to buy washing machine and after over looking for few of them, i shortlisted 2 of them, Haier and Godrej ... There was around 2500-3000 of diffrence in the price but the features were almost similar... So i decided to buy little costlier godrej which had similar features that of Haier ...
So the point is that whenever you get a chance to get an Indian product over any foreign product with the same features then even if the Indian product is little costlier and you can afford it, prefer that ... Because the whole money which was spending is going back in Indian economy whereas significant portion of the foreign product's price will go out of India...

For every one 200 dollar Chinese mobile phone that doesn't get bought by Indian consumer due to self imposed Chinese boycott, many big Indian industrialists import huge industrial scale machines costing millions of dollars. Why is Indian governments have failed to deliver on good environment to Indian manufacturers so that we can manufacturer what we need at competent market rates. It is a complete failure of all the Indian governments - not just this one, but all previous Indian governments. Why should a normal Indian on a road be asked to owe a moral debt and take the loss for the misdeeds of government's mismanagement.

I am importer. Many industry ( Tiles, Paper, Electronics, Automation ) can't survive without import ( 100 % dependent ) , Every famous brand ( Jindal Steel, Pidilite, Kajaria, etc ) if you look at their product sourcing pattern, you will end up finding china product ( Either Raw Material / Final Product / Product Packaging Material ).
As per my opinion, don't ban industry products that 100 % depecndent on it. Because that ruins business of whole industry and affects india exports too. Because many industry like tiles they are importing raw material and exporting tiles. You will ruins whole export business by posing heavy import duty. That's bad move and not helping any business owner.
If you want to create real change than create opportunities. Please create business subsidies / Cheaper Loan / Cheaper electricity / Cheaper gas / Cheaper Industrial Lands. That can revolutionize local business. Just like they did in china, ease of doing business. No gov BS.

Instead they produced mediocre products as they were monopoly. Same with phones. There was a great opportunity for Indian manufacturers to capture market. I think to stand globally in completion with china rather PLI, we need something more..if policy makers visit factories over there for week in any segment but not just few hours , min week for specific segment , they can see bigger picture and difference . We should have better production with better pricing is we r talking about outcome. We should more focus on steps to achieve it with micro calculation that most of people r forgetting. Just check our trade deficits no with china and it speak all.just one boat can not be example for everything. i have 2-3 relevant points to here. Nikhil briefly mentions about the IP being centered around India. Basically, it's Assembly in India and not Make in India. I am not cynical here. I am optimistic, change is happening, but at a snail's pace. The biggest fact being the number of "Patents" coming from India. For perspective, If in India the number is 100, in China it is 400. I dont' wish to talk shit about the government, but in all these 9 years, less than 3% funds are being allocated to Education. India has the best bi-lateral relations with Japan. We should use their technological resources (giving education to the youth like ITI institutes, diplomas) here in the form of private partnerships, better coalition R&D's in waste management and disposal, agiriculture and Robotics. you take 100 engineering students passed out from NON-IIT's, NIT's, IIIT's etc, most of them who are from the non-CS/IT background feel compelled to take up IT jobs because the NON-IT engg jobs are paying less salaries (way less when comparing to other countries). In countries like Japan, Germany people take great pride in doing Vocational Training and blue collar jobs

Chinese consumers are 100% choosing Chinese made products over foreign made day in and day out. Even if an MNCs tries to behave in an "unacceptable manner," the boycott is so severe and en mass that it's unbelievable. Case Study: HnM 2021. Japanese firms 2012.

I felt people want solutions at a cheaper price, because our basic salary is unable to pay our requirements. We need to find cheaper ways to provide solutions, example I was going to buy a brand new Android phone, and a found an Apple iPhone 7 128GB at Rs. 3500/- which was providing the solutions I wanted. It worked, cheaper solutions are available but it requires a lot of patience to understand the situational knowledge. Keep in Mind both phones were assembled in India, so some win.

Still Im choosing Flipkart over Amazon even if they sell at lower prices than FK.
    2 points
    1. Subconsciously I choose FK for some reason
    2. FK app is more user-friendly and the interface is very simple & good compared to Amazon. Customer care is also easy to connect in FK over Amazon

If we go on that path, we are again going to fall behind the world like we did , when Nehru and Indira closed the borders for import, due to that we had decades of poor and inferior products. Same thing is happening by banning Chinese products. We must collaborate rather than banning. Collaborate the strengths of each. When the world is benefitting by cheap and good quality Chinese manufacturing Indian are again being left behind. This is unfair and it’s going to keep us poor and behind again. Indian govt just does t give its citizens a chance.
