Believe me David, to the Lotus Elan enthusiast, all your videos are interesting. Something to consider when painting the gearbox. I painted mine British Racing Green with a black tailpiece but the part that set it off was the aluminum cover. I removed all the paint and left it natural aluminum silver. Too bad you can't see any of this when installed in the car!
Many thanks Frank. I enjoy making the videos and if they are interesting and informative then I've achieved what I set out to do. My engine has traces of the old colour, a light Blue, which I will revert to. I'll have to give some thought to the Aluminium cover. what did you do with the Bell Housing?
@@davidbaugh David. I stand corrected. (Remember, you can't see much of the gearbox once it's installed.) I dug out some photos I took 20 years ago while restoring the engine and gearbox. These pictures were taken before the digital age so just now, I took a couple of pictures OF THE PICTURES. They show that while I painted the gearbox black, I painted the tail housing and bell housing British Racing Green. The cover for the front of the starter is black as well and the aluminum cover is au natural. Really looks sharp. I can send the pictures if you can provide an email address to send them to.
It's like they were icing a cake 🤣
I think they should change profession!!
