For those who choose not to watch because of no English translation...don't watch, you have a choice. The rest of us enjoy the diversity. Excellent work Petrolicious!!!
My first car purchase was a 1972 Elan+2. Red, with a silver top. What a fun car to drive. Great handling, but it did have its drawbacks with mechanical issues! A true love story- ups and downs, but what a fun ride!
When a man says "...with a carburetor from my grandmother," you know that man is fated to be a car guy :) That was so beautifully filmed, by the way. Some of the shots looked like they were straight out of an old spy film!
Just watch....someone from some Hollywood studio in a hotel room in a snowed in place will end up seeing this and BANG! Next thing you know he'll start selling the idea to....EEEEEEEEKKK!!!
No one can possibly have Any regrets buying a Lotus a piece of Motoring History like no other on earth, the genius that was Mr Colin Chapman, in its day the Elan would leave anything dead on twisting country roads, with the exception of Maybe the best Ferrari of that era
Careful guys, the translation at 1.41 is inaccurate, it should read "growing up I started kayaking". If you're interested I could translate them for you, that's my trade. Love your videos, keep up the good work.
- A real double pleasure : 1) Meeting a nice guy and his gorgeous Lotus 2) The pleasure to hear its engine roaring in Paris because we will soon change the name of our capital in Pyongyang ;-)
The seats might provide a little more safety in this car in the event of an accident. A Lotus Elan handles like a sharp knife through the turns. Having a pair of firm sport seats with support on both sides could only make the driving pleasure of the car even better. Keep the seats...
Bravo Brieuc ! A +
This video is awesome. I've always loved the Elan +2. There's an old Italian movie, sorry don't remember the title, where on of the characters drives one.
For the next videos, can you please upload the video in 21:9? Or 16:9 without black bars. It gets pretty little in a 21:9 screen with that post processed black bars. Thanks.
That's some serious Carpe Diem! Give it up. The man had a vision and he wasn't going to be stopped. Its like he even admits to, in so many words, that he's an idiot for doing as far as he has, but he has no regrets! More power to him!
This character says he spent ages researching specifications before deciding which car to look for. That being the case, he would know that Lotus never made a convertible version of the Elan +2. Any that exist were created by sawing off the roof. I will admit that the conversion works, but wish people would not do such a thing. A conversion I approve of is to fit a 5 speed gearbox. A Ford Sierra box does the job well. The last +2 model was the +2S 130/5, which got a 5 speed box using Austin Maxi gears in a special Lotus casing. No, it didn't have a cable gear linkage.

Press CC at the bottom right and there are subtitles.
Thanks a lot to Petrolicious. It is fantastic, you travel around the world to meet enthusiasts. What a pleasure !
Greetings from France.
"I'm an idiot, but I love it." - Every car guy ever.
Haha. Completely related to him when he said that.
What a great story a true car guy in my book not even a broken body keeps him from driving his car
My first car purchase was a 1972 Elan+2. Red, with a silver top. What a fun car to drive. Great handling, but it did have its drawbacks with mechanical issues! A true love story- ups and downs, but what a fun ride!
Life stops when the idiocy ends, Brieuc.
This is one of the most beautiful cars I never knew of. Absolutely gorgeous.
Seeing this car makes me want to own one so badly, just the body lines and sound of the engine are amazing
Love this guys philosophy when it comes to cars, its so relatable.
This is one of my all time favourite cars. Ever. I would love to have one of these in my stable one day
what a great video. If you find something that stirs your soal you should follow it. Were here for a good time not a long time.
Inspirational and humble. Great story.
My dad had one. Same colour, same year. One of my earliest and most treasured memories...
...but with the more period vinyl seats, obviously...
Bravo mec... ton histoire m'a touché! Ciao.
He is pretty hard core... I feel a kinship with him and his vehicle. Hope he enjoys his ride a long long time.
Pretty obvious the euro petrolicious filming team is behind this one too. Their work is just superior. Another instant classic.
Brings back memories of my plus 2 130/5 S. Same colour as well. Forgot how good those twin 40's sounded.
When a man says "...with a carburetor from my grandmother," you know that man is fated to be a car guy :) That was so beautifully filmed, by the way. Some of the shots looked like they were straight out of an old spy film!

His wife doesn't like it. That means keep it no matter what. Wonderful story here.

So good to see a episode about a french owner! I'm french too. :)
Is that why you have that outrageous accent? ;)
Nobody is perfect
Great cars with a great sound!
1:20
I can't be the only one who noticed the people in the back lol. I couldn't tell if he was getting arrested, or in a fight. But great video!
Great video! Awesome car and excellent cinematography.
Lotus Elan! :D I love youuuuuu!
I love that Petroboys find people all over the world, with love and passion towards their lil metal baby! :)
Aslak Vind It's PLASTIC, not metal.
acmeopinion factory - It's not "plastic", it's a steel backboard chassis with a fiberglass monocoque body. You walked into that one smart ass.
One of my favorites. Incredible control.
Beautiful car and inspiring story.
Careful guys, the translation at 1.41 is inaccurate, it should read "growing up I started kayaking". If you're interested I could translate them for you, that's my trade. Love your videos, keep up the good work.
Lovely tour of Paris in the first part - we can play the game of "spot the landmarks".... Tour Eiffel, Notre Dame, etc.
Always loved this car design..very cool..
Très Bien! I see the coupes but I can't remember the last time I saw a +2.
Arlind Sadikaj, Thank you for the cc tip! Didn't even think of that! I can be quite the idiot at times...
Thank you for not dubbing the movie.
A great film and a great story.
- A real double pleasure : 1) Meeting a nice guy and his gorgeous Lotus 2) The pleasure to hear its engine roaring in Paris because we will soon change the name of our capital in Pyongyang ;-)
You are changing the name Paris to Pyongyang? How about Paristan?
Those seats are really out of place in that car, there are modern but classic looking alternatives.
I actually like the look of an old car with modern race seats, belts and steering. it has its charm
The seats might provide a little more safety in this car in the event of an accident. A Lotus Elan handles like a sharp knife through the turns. Having a pair of firm sport seats with support on both sides could only make the driving pleasure of the car even better. Keep the seats...
Agreed, but he might well need the extra support with fused joints.
It's a classis car from 1972 why modern alternatives
I think he said "Look how nice my cabriolet is, Nyah Nyah Nyah-Nyah Nyah" Xp
Great video as always Petrolicious! Please ignore the children who can't sort their crayons or be bothered to find the captions.
One of my favourite
Channel
Moreover so beautiful car ❤❤👍👍👍
I owned Three of these! .................. They were the MX5 Version, built by MAZDA.
Bravo Brieuc !
A +
The Bi-turbo only redeeming quality was its Maserati name, but just the exclusivity of the nameplate is enough to hook you.
Beautiful car and Paris...aaaahhhh!
I love this!
Wonderful story.
2:20 wonderful scene thank you
Another great vid. Legend.
This video is awesome. I've always loved the Elan +2. There's an old Italian movie, sorry don't remember the title, where on of the characters drives one.
The Bi-turbo was only a Maserati in name only, but just the exclusivity of the nameplate is enough to hook you.
Elan forever ~~^^♡♡
How many takes before headlight motors and light electrics all worked?
I didn't realize how small that car was until he got into it O_o
People think a Mazda Miata is small, then an Elan pulls up and makes the Mazda look overweight!
Lovely Lotus!!
Je l'aime, .. une voiture exceptionnelle ! : )
I don't care if it's a +2 because the body look amazing. It's not fat like the 240z 2+2
Moby Dick the normal 2 seater 240z is amazing but the 2+2 looks fat.
"Miserati" lol.
Awesome car!
Hey guys Very nice video ! As usual. Does any body know what is the music from 00:10 ?
wish we could have seen more shots of the interior.
I love your videos they're all very well done but please can you put subtitles.
any idea what the music is?
great video as always :)
Great video and wonderful car but I would still prefer the Maserati Biturbo:) Thumbs up
For the next videos, can you please upload the video in 21:9? Or 16:9 without black bars. It gets pretty little in a 21:9 screen with that post processed black bars. Thanks.
awesome car i prefer it over avantadors
Closed captions don't work with Apple TV
i'm french and i love your video. can you make about thé Porsche 924 s
great car!
Taylor Ray brought me here!!
Bravo ! Keep it
i need the tune/song of the 3:09
subtitles please....Love the show
He had a wreck when he was 18 but he was still in a full cast when he bought this car years later?
That's some serious Carpe Diem! Give it up. The man had a vision and he wasn't going to be stopped. Its like he even admits to, in so many words, that he's an idiot for doing as far as he has, but he has no regrets! More power to him!
you guys used to use subs but nice vid
simplement ... magnifique
full hd ??????
No 4K? :(
wish it was subtitled, gorgeous car though

ENGLISH DAMN IT!
Hahaha, they are French and can't adapt them. I'm Dutch tho
RED h.c. my wife is not French!
Congrats
Why isn't there subtitle in the videos?
Yes there are.
Merci Lotus
What's the song around 3:20?
I tried Shazaming it, but it didn't recognise it. A very pretty guitar piece nonetheless.
owned one of these, awful engines fumes seep into the cabin - not a patch on the baby elan. glad he likes his!
Please start marking non-english videos as such. Subtitles are bullshit on my phone. It's not hard and frankly it's going to save your subs.
Euro cars stronk 💪
Where are the subtitles??
#speakenglishordie
i thought you were going to zoom out to him in a wheelchair or something
Thankfully it's not a Porsche or BMW.
It's not Tuesday???
👍❤️
Oui Oui
obviously non of you lived in france before
