Check your 3rd brake bulbs. When they burn out they cause the transmission to shift weird. LED’s will do the same thing without resistors. I know it doesn’t make sense but that’s the way these trucks are

I have had this problem since I got the truck and the first thing I put on was a 3rd brake
You’re wrong it’s because he has the modified valve body tunes on a stock transmission you want the race tune without the mod valve body
@@powerstrokecentralbro it’s not the bulb you’re running modified valve body tunes without a modified valve body. Only thing a brake light can cause is no overdrive when out because they’re on the same fuse

After you chipped it, next I hope to see a turbo upgrade, possibly injectors, and maybe an intercooler install in the future when/if you want to. And I don't like rolling coal either, not only is it a waste of fuel, but it also makes the EPA laws more and more strict, and they were the buzz killers for anyone running on diesel and/or gasoline!
Nice 7.3 you got there man it sounds so very nice.Hope you are enjoying it. The 6.0 is looking good and sounds good as well nothing beats the turbo whistle of your 6.0. Have fun with your trucks.
I love the 7.3. Mine has 600.000 miles. What an amazing motor. The weak link is the injectors, the cost to replace them is something I miss about the older injection pump diesels. You could pull those out, take ‘em apart, run em across a wire wheel and get a few inexpensive parts and you are back in business.
The weak link of the 7.3 is the heui injection pump.
Don’t forget that most of the OBS 7.3s only have 90cc injectors from factory. You’ll get way more out of the tunner if you upgrade them!

The modified valve body tunes are for a modified valve body in your trans only that’s why it shifted weird 😂

Hey it was cool to meet you Friday night at Asher (the blue X), did you upgrade the transmission in that truck yet? I didn't see that in the video, but you might not want to run a tune for a modified valve body if you haven't gotten a stronger transmission yet. Can't wait to see more with this sweet rig, keep up the great vids

My 7.3 did the same thing with shifting after I put a tuner in it I just put some Lucas transfix in it fixed it right up
Probably should use the towing with modified valve body tune if your trans is stock, that’s the cause of the transmission issues

Great experimenting, just keep in mind that these automatic transmissions were never designed to take that kind of power. That’s why I like the 5 speed in mine.
Stock injectors with just a tune might get ya 60hp. OBS were pretty limited on the power a tuner could get you on stock sticks. Superduty 7.3s could net a little more.
1. The third brake light like mentioned.
2. The php tunes destroyed my tranny within a few months. When I switched to jelibuilt it was night and day better with shifting (with my new tranny)

Your supposed to put a diesel in park or neutral before changing the tune it’s recommended but either way you can do it in drive but preferably in neutral or park

Also looks like u have 3.55 gear ratios from my experience they shift sooner with this ratio unless od is off.
I don't think you'll get 150 HP from stock injectors. They can't flow enough fuel to get there. with 160 cc injectors you can do it but then you'll need and intercooler, upgraded exhaust, among other things.
I did a Diamond Eye 3" downpipe, 4" exhaust with cat delete and an Aero Turbine muffler, Riffraff billet compressor wheel, 6637 air filter, and an early 99 super duty intercooler and spider. The next mod is a .84 exhaust housing for the turbo for quicker spool-up.
I have an 01 7.3 with just a tune and 0-60 is 9.80, is that fast or something. The tune my dad put on back in 03 so I genuinely have no idea
You’re loosing a lot from running it In the tunes for a modified valve body and I’m sure it’s not good for you’re transmission those tunes are for if you have a shift kit in the trans. No hate just looking out. Great videos.

Why did you choose the tunes for the modified valve body. Are you sure your truck has a woods valve body if not it’s going to shift super soft but if you have a stock valve body it will shift supper soft and wrong.

Are Nbs 7.3 faster than obs 7.3s or are they about the same speed?
OBS trucks are lighter
NBS 7.3 have a faster spooling turbo, higher volume fuel, 17 deg HPOP, and larger injectors.
So stock for stock the NBS will be considerably faster, but if you upgrade them both the same OBS is lighter so can be faster.
not making enough boost. I don't see the check engine kight coming on. when it does you'll need the boost fooler so you dont get defueled.
Throw some stage 1.5 injectors and efuel and it will be a whole new truck

modified valve body and new tunes is why your truck was shifting funny. It needs to relearn the power and when to shift when you tune it like that from stock thats why it shifts funny, trucks needs to relearn when to shift according to power. Thats what i had to do when i put a tuner on my duramax

5,000 lbs is nothing for a 7.3L ive seen them chained to a stuck triaxel dumptruck and it drug it out of the ditch

I got a relative he got a 7.3 pushing a little over 500 horsepower and he's ready to sell it cuz it's breaking down monthly. The power he pushing just tired of putting money into it. Calls it just The money pit now. Not as reliable since jacked it up.

they have tunes for up to 150 hp gain i just decided not to put that one on my 7.3L because i got a blank chip. i have owned my last 7.3 for 4 years and had 180hp tune on it.

My take on it, your a kid that’s made a lot of money on TH-cam, meaning you have more to spend when stuff breaks which I feel like you try to do on purpose sometimes? Your really need to learn more about deisel engines or engines in general, you have no idea what your doing when it comes to tuning and “rolling coal” which increases egts and rolling coal means it’s not tuned CORRECTLY resulting in the egts getting to high and the engine overheating, burning through transmissions for no reason, breaking a perfectly good truck by putting “tunes” on it. Especially when your putting modified valve body tunes on a stock trans? The tunes do nothing but add more fuel, to actually make good power gains like you want, if your adding fuel you have to also add more air for correct ratios, if not you will “roll more coal” and roast your engine components towing. If you add more air it will run clean AND you get a lot more performance. I feel bad for your newer 7.3 that your dad owned before you, seems like he took good care of it and then you got it , made it look better but also chipped it and front your old your dad had to tell you to change the air filter in it because it was bad? Bad maintenance and mods= death
