Inside Out 2 took a new route from the original film, giving the story an antagonist for Joy and the other core emotions. While it’s true that every emotion has a purpose and reason for helping Riley, some can become harmful if they are allowed to dictate everything about her life, which is what happened when Anxiety overtook headquarters, causing Riley to lose her sense of self, allowing her to become overwhelmed with intense negative emotions and thoughts. By the film's end, Anxiety’s attempts to help Riley lead to her questioning her self-worth, something she doesn’t completely recover from, as she builds a new sense of self influenced by all her emotions, good and bad, with Riley reaching a new understanding about herself. At the same time, on the cusp of starting high school, the stage has been set for a third film in the franchise, following the next chapter of Riley’s life. However, the possibility of a third film leaves fans wondering if the next story will have an antagonist, too. In today’s video, we’ll discuss who the next antagonist could be!

What emotion I would love to see in the third film, is Love, Betrayal & Emo, cause those emotions Riley also experienced, and when she enters high school, her Emo phase could kick in
One of the things the uploader seemed to forgot is that all emotions despite their shenanigans aren't doing things selfishly they're doing it for Riley.
Nostalgia could be the villain. Hear me out. After getting rejected from headquarters throughout the second movie, her motivation would be to make Riley relive all parts of the past both good and bad as revenge against the other emotions for seemingly casting her out.

I think love should be antagonist. Maybe she falls in love with someone and all she can think about is love and maybe the third through the movie she decides to confess to her crush and he orshe rejects her and then love turns in the heartbreak. Another one is I think the deep Turk secret might be Riley‘s sexuality and she knew all along, but didn’t tell anyone but then deep dark secret comes out at some point and the conflict could be that Riley and her emotions try to figure out who she is

This wouldn’t be making sense to simple. Fact it’s clear she likes boys due to secret of her liking male anime character I think love in another inside out 3 becomes a villain after Riley gets rejected by the boy she likes and this makes love want take control making problems and Riley gets bad heart break I argree on this opinion .

What strange is how they are making the emotions into waves like the first movie we got the core five emotions joy fear sadness, anger, and disgust. Those are all the core five emotions wow in the second movie we got the negative emotions like anxiety. This can really hurt your mental state, including envy and embarrassment and ennui
A single emotion taking complete control seems to be the main plot of both movies. In the first, it was joy. In the second, it was Anxiety. They could use the same trope for the third, but there's also a possibility they may break the mold with a new type of antagonist or no antagonist at all and just show a struggle of Riley adjusting into an even older scenario. High school graduation, the start of college, bigger hockey tryout. Growing up is difficult even when you're already an adult

I like the fact there’ll be more inside out there we need to come. It’ll be brilliant to see what goes on inside Riley‘s head next. I like it so much and it gives me such a good idea to explore a lot more on our emotions to what goes on in the future to come.

* Nostalgia could make Riley feel nostalgic and pull her away from her destiny
* Nostalgia could also overwhelm Riley coz she’s an old woman which means she probably really experienced in controlling poeple’s emotions
* And she might cause Riley to come back to her old house and take her away from her family

Nostalgia may look like an old woman, but she's really only existed when Riley has. And she has had very little time in headquarters, and very little time around other emotions.

Envy wouldn't be bad. She just wants to help Riley. We can see it in the movie when Anxiety takes control. Envy says "Anxiety, you're putting too much pressure on her!". Which means she is mature enough to have balancing herself and the feeling to get what she wants that others have. So shes just a really sweet emotion. At the end of the film Joy apperciates Envy for reminding her the spanish test. So no, Envy Is just a really sweet emotion that wants to help Riley fit in with others. Thats why she helped anxeity. She didn't even share the idea or accept that the first 5 emotions should be put in a bottle. So she won't be a villian at all.

My theory is : Riley's having her first boyfriend in the school, new emotion called love will be there. Her boyfriend will affect in riley's life, making her sneak out with her boyfriend. Her parents will find out , making her yelling at her family after her family warned her about him . Riley's getting happy because her boyfriend is going with her to places and buying for her things , which new emotions is euphoria makes her loses control , feelings shy towards it new emotion shyness. Then she finds out her friends(whoever) or her boyfriend's friend loves her boyfriend and gets closer to him, making Riley's new emotion jealousy. Then riley finds out that her boyfriend is actually cheating on her , she gets depressed which new emotion is depression. She feels guilty and frustrated cuz her family was right which another new emotion guilt.

Personally, I have been thinking about either Gloom finally making itself known or Envy getting into a more center stage role as a Main Antagonist(since I don’t think she fully learned anything from her time helping Anxiety), personally i would like to see Gloom make a little more of a Official Appearance.
Although, here’s an idea, What If we have Gloom and Envy being the Antagonists, with Gloom being the overall Main Antagonist and Envy being the more Primary Antagonist being influenced by Gloom in some way,
which could lead into us having Two Separate Kinds of Villain Endings, with Envy being the Villain that ends up learning something in the end finally getting a sort of redemption of her own, while Gloom ends up being the Villain that just gets defeated with no redemption whatsoever,
Heck, we could probably even add Anxiety being an Antagonist again in this idea too, just this time the script would be flipped a little, rather than just simply being enabled by her, Anxiety would just straight up be influenced by Envy, in a similar manner to how Envy probably would be influenced by Gloom, pretty much making Anxiety more more of an unintentional Third Antagonist this time around.
But, anyway, regardless of whoever the next Antagonist is going to be, if there even will be another one in the Next Movie, it all comes down to what this Next Villain are supposed to do, which in turn really comes down to what would this Third Movie even be about? Which probably might be way more difficult to figure out,
Especially with the development of the whole Sense of Self thing, it just felt like a way too big of a development for it to be a Plot Device again, so what could a Third be about?
By the way, side note: while I would like to see what Riley’s Most Darkest Secret could be and I do think it could work as an Antagonist, I don’t think it could work as a Movie Antagonist though.
Technically, none of the emotions were actually a villain because they just weren’t understood like anxiety has anxiety about doing things right so technically there is no actual villain inside out unless they are not an emotion because then the whole pack which just makes sense
Here's an idea that would really fit in with what you're saying, new emotion: libido/lust.
As she's a teenager now, this would be the age when it develops and it IS a bad thing if it takes over which is exactly the sort of thing that would happen to a teen.
I imagine this emotion looking something like Jessica Rabbit in maroon or burgundy. And telling Riley things like "Girl you hit the genetic jackpot, a natural blond AND blue eyes! No don't walk down the hall, put a hand on your new hips and STRUT! Oh yeah, that's it, work those cans!"
You might say it's too much but come on, Pixar got away with a kid's film that referenced periods.

i might get called sensitive for this but i dont think its a good idea because i feel like it’s a bad thing to have a disorder to be the villain. sure, they could show the struggles of having a disorder and how it can affect somebody in both good and bad ways but straight up villanizing it?? its bad enough theres stigmatization towards nd ppl and disorders shouldnt be portrayed as a bad thing.

There’s a bunch of videos coming out about this kind of stuff now but to be real it’ll take at least a year or two for inside out to come out with another movie. I personally would like the idea if love and hate were the new emotions. because he could seem like a genuinely villainous, emotion and love can seem like a newfound, welcoming, emotion, but it’s very easy for love to turn into something bitter or obsessive and sometimes it’s good to hate something. I’m just afraid they’ll be too close to other emotions and they won’t be able to spread them out farther enough. Like people think hate is associated with, anger and love with sadness or joy because love can make you happy and sad. I know they’re not marketing towards this kind of thing, but it would be beneficial for the ratings if they made love and hate with “shipping” potential. Cartoons used to do this by having male and female rules, but I don’t know anymore. As someone who grew up on fairytales, I still do like male and female relationships, and to be honest media and seeing female and female, relationships, male and male relationships kind of just feels like… sexually charged?? I don’t know people just don’t know how to portray same-sex relationships..

I feel like if we do get new emotions, I speculate that the new emotions would be love, jealousy, courage, guilt, and or hope. Just a guess, but I bet at least of those emotions will be shown manifesting as Riley gets older.

Another possible emotion for the antagonist could be Love. Riley gets a boyfriend who turns out to not be good for her and Love refuses to let him go. An Inside Out movie with a morals around toxic or unhealthy relationships. Maybe not as graphic as they are in real life, but there are many ways an unhealthy relationship can take form

Hatred would make for a good antagonist. It could possess the other emotions and pit them against each other to create enough chaos in Riley's head for it to grow and take over Riley's personality causing her to become abrasive to everyone around her.
The movie could also feature a new emotions like shame, pride, empathy, and forgiveness. Essentially, make something happen to Riley that hurts her pride and makes her become hateful, eventually causing Joy to vanish, until she acts out in a way that causes harm to others around her; some story element happens that leads to the birth of a new emotion, empathy, which helps her realizes she's become the very thing she hated in the first place, allowing shame and then forgiveness to take place, demonstrating the theme of empathy and forgiveness breaking the cycle of hatred, and therefore leading to the return of Joy.

This may be speaking the obvious, but I think Love and Hate should be introduced, with Hate being the antagonist of course. And it being so strong that it leads her to not only hate others but also herself. The message being that hate only leads to destruction, and love always trumps hate.
If Inside Out was a cinematic universe, we could be seeing the development of the Seven Deadly Sins. We already have Wrath (Anger), Envy, and Sloth (Ennui). Maybe Joy could equal Pride, but they did have concepts of Pride being different from Joy.

The villain can be called Desolation. He can be not an emotion, but a void. He can be grey and be stronger and smarter than the emotions. He can make Riley feel nothing and make grey memories. If a grey memory or he touched a memory, they all turn grey. He wants to turn the whole mind grey. It can take all the emotions to defeat him.

I still think it should be Love. Riley get her first serious crush and Love becomes so obsessed with trying to make Riley impress her crush.
I believe it should be one of the 7 deadly sins. I know this is a kid movie but they could do a evil version of envy which would manifest into a new version as the sin of envy. Similar too what was said in the video but i believe the evil envy would separate for the original emotion one instead.

Genuinely thought Rileys new emotion in high-school would be vengeance the elegant but sadistic purple emotion cartoon depicted on the thumbnail as she navigates the feelings of helplessness against the pressures of high-school by coping by preoccupying her mind with dark fantasies of revenge initiated by vengeance whenever she gets rejected by a guy or anyone in the in crowd.
At first, Anger has a huge crush on Vengeance as her strategies are intricate and intrigue him. But the other emotions are onto her. By the end of the movie Anger and Vengeance team up after Vengeance seduces and manipulates Anger into helping her influence Riley to intentionally destroy the lives of others including her parents for trying to ground her when she tries to sneak out to hamg out with the cool people or a guy she's dating.
But then the other emotions help Anger see Vengeance for what she truly is and that letting Vengeance run the show would be disastrous so he starts to detach from Vengeance and helps the other emotions subdue her and they lock her in a vault with the other didden secrets and emotions because they realize there is no place for Vengeance in Rileys mind and Anger grieves his heartbreak over losing the elegant but malicious Vengeance but ultimately feels empowered that he doesn't need her and that being angry doesn't have to kean you take revenge on the party you feel is responsible.
Vengeance would be an incredible super villain😈💜. Like an evil psychopathic emotion. And Guilt could be the Protagonist.
Would be cool if in “Inside Out 3”, they fought against the emotions that are so negative that we can’t live with… Hatred, for instance.

Calmness - The one who is the exact opposite of Fear.
Trust - The one who believes one of Riley’s friends will do ok.
Frustration - An emotion that can’t beat the hardest video game level.
Annoyance - The one who can’t stand Humor’s jokes.
Confusion - The one who can’t understand a new language.
Surprise - A neutral emotion that gives a wide mouth on a test result.
Disappointment - The one who makes Riley like himself when she gets an F.
Pride - The one who makes Riley proud after she gets her final grade as an A.
Shame - The one who feels bad for another student who gets bullied.
Tiredness - They sleepy emotion who makes Riley tired.
Guilt - The one who makes Riley feel bad after something bad she pulls off.
Kindness - The one who causes Riley to help a bullied student.
Courage - The motivated emotion who makes Riley face her fears.
and Craziness - The abstract antagonist who wanted to make Riley go insane.

Here's an idea, depression. Riley could suffer an event that leaves her very depressed. Her mind becomes themed to the 1930s as they all suffer under the "great depression."

I made a villain called shyness who has black hair, purple skin, a black top and white shorts.
Shyness starts to get annoyed that the other emotions have big roles, while she is to afraid to control.
she starts to have the urge to hurt Riley by making her feel too shy to achieve her goals and dreams.
her right hand man guilt tries to make shyness feel guilt in later parts of the movie, while Shyness assumes that she is the victim and doesn't need help.

Hear me out, what if the antagonist is Love. While she is in high school, Riley has a crush on someone. Love takes her over and when Riley realizes he doesn’t like her, she becomes heartbroken and turns into revenge. In the end, she is defeated and an empty emotion comes and takes control of love.
