I have owned a 2002 SLK320 for 6 years (it’s an automatic unfortunately). It only has 30,000 miles on the odometer. I bought it privately from the original owner. Never had any problems whatsoever. Not fast by modern standards but a nice drive on a twisty road on a sunny day with the top down. I am located in Adelaide, South Australia.

Bought my 2004 320 Sport with 5k miles on it 12 years ago and it has a little over 7k on it now. Solid build just needs routine stuff that ages.

Great video on the Mercedes SLK 320 sport 6-speed! I have owned a 2003 SLK 320 6-speed (Pewter Silver Metallic with 54K original miles) since 2012. Other than the CPS (known issue on all M112 engines), MAF, electronic fan controller, reservoir float sensor, and vario top hydraulic actuators/cylinders, the car has been an excellent driver. When I was commuting this car was my daily driver. It is the ultimate cruiser, gobbling up hundreds of miles in true Mercedes (ride) comfort, while still retaining a sporting character through the twisty back roads. I love the feel of the "old school" recirculating ball steering; with this steering type, the six cylinder engine and the six speed manual it has a driving feel not unlike the Jaguar XK140 roadster my father had back in the late 60's/early 70's. It truly is a hidden gem - 103K miles and going strong.
P.S. I have not had to replace the K40 relay box on this car. However, on the hairdresser's 😉version 2003 SLK 230K (Firemist Red) w/auto (which somehow came into my ownership recently - long story), the K40 relay box, alarm, DAS module and the PSE module required replacement at only 58K miles. I imagine that some of these failures were due to the battery voltage going low multiple times (over the course of the car's long storage during COVID) because of excessive quiescent current draw traced to a fault in the PSE. Be very careful to ensure that the PSE is functioning normally at all times.
P.P.S. Yes, both cars suffer somewhat from the cheap padding/coating over the interior trim panels.
Cheers, Ken from (Don't go back to) Rockville, Maryland.

Well kept secret, for sure! I'd like to have a W209 (C209) CLK with that 6 speed manual, tho'!

Many small things break with age, so adding up you still need to put quite some money innit. Build Quality was cheap, how long will you get spare parts? The engine is from different models, so they didn't cheap out on that one.
    It's a lovely car, though

Prefer the R171 over these cars. Better put together and better looking. Better engines too although I know some like the M112 and M113. Still, the R170 started the small hardtop roadster layout so I have to give it credit for that.

The question was ''your thoughts about the car'' not ''your thoughts on what you saw in the mirror''. /j

The later version of the 6spd (05+) ditched the cable for push rod only shifter. I have in my w211.
