Honestly, I don't know about the S500 system, but the S300 and S400 did not see the missiles that Israel launched at Iran pass. And the missiles covered more than half of the country and were not detected. Which makes me curious how effective that Russian anti-aircraft system actually is.

Perhaps a bit unrelated but the question did pop in my mind and is interesting to think about: What will happen when interception weapons (so missiles which intercept other missiles, lasers which reliably take down missiles at long range etc) get so advanced that they can nearly 100% reliably take down all types of icbm and other missiles? Will we see attempts at super stealthy icbms? To extend this question even further, what happens if we reach a level where the interception systems essentially make it impossible to fly anything including both planes and missiles? Will we see a regression to completely ground based warfare? Will we see ballistic intercontinental weapons with armored shells? Will we see planes become hulking tanks which are nearly impossible to shoot down? I would love to hear some opinions on this because i think about it quite often and never see anyone discuss it.

Perhaps a bit unrelated but the question did pop in my mind and is interesting to think about:
What will happen when interception weapons (so missiles which intercept other missiles, lasers which reliably take down missiles at long range etc) get so advanced that they can nearly 100% reliably take down all types of icbm and other missiles? Will we see attempts at super stealthy icbms?
To extend this question even further, what happens if we reach a level where the interception systems essentially make it impossible to fly anything including both planes and missiles?
Will we see a regression to completely ground based warfare? Will we see ballistic intercontinental weapons with armored shells? Will we see planes become hulking tanks which are nearly impossible to shoot down?
I would love to hear some opinions on this because i think about it quite often and never see anyone discuss it.
