Now I’m glad I wasn’t on the River Sub that day. That run between Red Wing and Portage was such an awesome fast run. Despite competition for shots being intense I still had a blast chasing it down to Portage.
You have posted some really good videos on this channel, but this one takes the cake! You are very good at getting great shots (especially the drone shots!) and your narration is funny and cool. Keep up the great work!!
I live 10 minutes away from an old CP station on the CP Galt Sub in Galt Ontario and still wasn't lucky enough to see the Empress..maybe one day...great shots though. Thankfully around here I've never had to deal with any Pacers...
W video BNSF 1458, I'm gonna catch CP 2816 at DeQuincy Railroad Museum on the CPKC Beaumont Subdivision on May 25, I'm very excited to see this glory pass the Depot 😊
I went to go see it when it was going through Chicago, I had went to the metra station by my house and there were some railfans there and they asked if I was there to see the steam locomotive and I said yes, and they said that it was going on a different line than I thought or it had already passed.
A lot of hiccups along the way, but the footage was incredible! I also learned my lesson of pacing while being stuck behind 4014 pacers, really getting me back for all the pacing I did of a doubleheader at Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. Remember people, if you wanna pace the train, that’s fine, but only do it for maybe 3 minutes at most to let others catch up and get their own shots.
Your feelings are totally justified. Oh...don't get me started on those pacers. When 4014 came through Arizona in 2019, I remember catching it and then trying to chase it only to be held up by what was definitely more than 100 cars. I wish the police would do something about this (funny thing, there is actually an Arizona law that requires motorists to pull over on a two lane highway when there are at least five vehicles held behind it, but no one seems to enforce or even acknowledge it) as it is definitely a disruption on the road. Going to travel to Louisiana for 2816 this month, thanks for the advice, we are definitely taking the interstate!
Nice catch. I was asked if I was going to pace the train when it comes through here in a few weeks in the Houston area...I said...have at it, I don't participate in that madness. I will be finding a remote place on the google maps area away from the people lol. Team old man railfanner.
is there even a way to track them? Also i love the whistle on that engine. the main one. the one everyone hates. i love it. anyone angry at a pacer is just annoyed they aren't the one doing it. pacing shots are cool af.
I mean, at least I got some really good shots! I made it to all four spots I had planned out! 75 mile chase in a straight line, probably quite a bit more with all of the twists and turns.
Well, you just reinforced my reasoning not to get a drone. I know myself very well and know I would wreck on in less than a minute of flight time. In conversations with other old geezer( I remember when SD-40-2 s were new) drones are the future of railfanning.
How come nobody told me about this? By the way, I was hoping to help get some railfans in touch with you for updates on stuff like this and was wondering if you could join our server. Thanks, dude! -One pacer officially removed (LOL)

I saw this Steam Locomotive yesterday in Wisconsin we chased till we went to Portage
It was my First Heritage unit I ever seen in my life!
145 pacers removed from the highway so far. Great video. Glad everything worked out with the drone.

Patiently waiting for your next video... 😁

Pretty sweet video. My favorite steam locomotive all time is back on the tracks.

Great footage of the Empress!
Why is it called the final spike tour?
It’s a celebration of the CPKC merger, which linked all three countries of North America together by rail

Well I hope one day you can make it out here to Pennsylvania when they run 2102, 425 or when they finish 1361
I was laughing so hard when you crashed the drone 🤣 either way, great vid!
Great footage! sounds like you had quite the adventure. I agree about the pacers! -Jenny
I just caught 2816 today! It was leaving Minnesota via a Milwaukee Road lift bridge. - Sid

Your right, go through the sunroof to pace instead (also its a really nice shot, I drive off the road though so I don't cause traffic)
Awesome video! Great to see some steam action around there!

I'm chasing from KC to Texarkana, factoring in pacers, I may get three runbys, but that's being optimistic lol
Great Video as always

You guys had lots of fun , fire chase too😂 next year I’ll plan to try chasing something…
Hopefully she gets to Mexico and back safely. Been through there up and down and vandalism is very present there.
The River sub chase today was WAY. TOO. CHAOTIC.
So glad I stayed home today
@@BNSF1458damn right

That’s me in the maroon sweatshirt at 3:02
the only time I would understand a pacer is on an empty road in the middle of the mojave desert with trains averaging 70 miles per hour
Nice, quick question, how did you make your profile?
Hey bud, i was wondering with what applications did you use to make your youtube logo as a realistic BN loco
I like trains
does anyone by chance know the time it will pass through Pearland TX?
I would like to try and catch this passing Glenview, but I really have no idea when the heck it’s gonna pass.
Edit: There’s a tracker website
Epic
Nice CP 2816 Steam Engine 2816

Pacers should not pace on single lane each way roads.
I hate the Canadian Pacific Kansas City merger
eh I don’t mind it but it does feel wrong
@@cts3696 agreed
Sometime we should railfan the staples sub together
