I'm just a few minutes into the video and haven't seen the house yet, but wanted to tell you how much I enjoy seeing points of interest like this archeological park. Italy is so rich in history and full of natural beauty. We need to bring these empty towns back to life. Younger people move away because the life is too simple, but those of us who are sick of the rat race crave a more simple existence. Somewhere that we can finally relax and breathe.

Love it! I can imagine relaxing in that cute apartment. My question is how many of these towns are accessible without a car? I would be depending on the train and bus to get around.
The apartment is beautiful, renovated and functional.
From Abbateggio you can reach both the sea and the mountain in 30 minutes or less. The hamlet of Abbateggio has been classified as one of the most beautiful hamlets of Italy, thanks to the road and houses all in stone. Here it's possible to enjoy genuine food and meet genuine people as well as take part in many of the cultural events of the area and surroundings. You won't have any issues with the citizens, they are very welcoming people.
In the town it is possible to find internet, as well as a café and post office in the centre and all the remaining services just a few minutes away.
It can be reached by bus, at pre-established times by the public service present with stops and timetable on their website.

@@majellacase Which towns are serviced directly by train? Or with many busses to the train station daily? It seems impossible to be able to get a drivers license not knowing the Italian language well enough. I'm imagining a life with no car, and using trains to go from town to town.

I imagine the BBQ would be taken upstairs to use in the outdoor entry area? Or is it ok to use it outside of the cellar?
The area outside the cellar is a public road therefore no one would say anything if you have a barbecue there but it may be best to have one on the terrace, even only to avoid the cars passing by.
