That’s the late great Willie K, Hawaiian legend. I sat in on drums with him back home in Hawaii years back. The guy played everything from Metallica to The Beatles and his guitar chops and vocals were awe inspiring.
Awesome! Sammy has always been like the fan's "rockstar". While is in the stratosphere of the greatest rock singers, he's just like the fun dude down the street. His skill-set is deadly serious, but he's never takes himself to seriously, and is truly a humble guy.
I think this is close to an exact quote from Circus magazine in 1977 - "I'm not a technical wizard. I just try to listen and vibe out the situation correctly" - Mick Fleetwood. No one other than Ringo, in my humble opinion, can do that better. Mick doesn't play much technical stuff, but he plays exactly what the music needs. One of my absolute favorites, from a drummer for over 50 years.
I read mick’s book about 2 years ago!! Unbelievable read! He details the history of the band while adding his own personal anecdotes and weaving in the story of his life along with it.
Mick is a FKg Legend and so is Sammy! Glad to see Mick enjoying himself it's not all about Fleetwood Mac and give it up for that Hawaiian dude on vocal and 🎸 These guys are in there 70s and look FKg fantastic and still have it goes to show you age is just a # you can be 75 and feel 45 or 45 and feel 75 I will say that Sammy looks 15 to 20 years younger than being in his 70s God if I make 70 let me look like Sammy 😆
I'm a hack metal drummer for almost 20 years now but whenever anyone asks me my first drumming influence I always say Mick. My father and I used to watch Fleetwood Mac tapes during the 90s to watch Micks faces and laugh.. the music wasn't bad either! Haha
He reminds of a very understated public school music teacher- and talented? The opening riff to "Over My Head" is far better than any repeating drum loop around.
Thank you Mr. Fleetwood and Mr. Hagar. You’re both legends and crucial parts of modern music (maybe not so modern haha). Thanks to the band also. I really loved this. Never stop!
Sammy needs to know, He Is there and does Belong there. You fronted Montrose, great Solo career and oh yeah he fronted a little band named Van Halen for over 10 years!! Sammy my friend, YOU MADE IT👍🎸🎸
Always Been a Red Rocker Fan, Since Montrose... Legends come to us in our lifetime, and passionately can say, Such a humble and faithful person to his fans an family... 🤙...
I saw him at Costco about 17 years ago. He was selling his wine brand and signing autographs. I wanted to go over to the CD section and pick up Rumours, and have him sign it,but the line was out the door. I should have waited. But I saw him, talking to fans, great guy.
What a jam! I literally ran into Mick once in a bar in Studio City in the 80s. I turned from the bar with my drinks and, boom, face to chest with Mick Fleetwood. He was sweaty and very cordial. I was speechless. A very fond memory.
@@IMNSignificant dude! Really? Ill have to wrack my brain and see if I can remember the name. I remember Kevin Cronin was singing Roll with the Changes as a guest with the band playing just as I collided with Mick. There was no stage. It was a large open floor. That’s all I remember right now.
And buy the way Sammy Hagar freaking rocks. Seriously. He can sing anything. He’s got the pipes, heart and soul. Love him. I Can’t Drive 55 should be required for starters.
I've been playing the MIRAGE album on vinyl just about every day for the last few years. Didn't appreciate them back in the day as a kid. Now in my 50s nothing but respect.
I bought Mirage used on vinyl for 50 cents at a used record store back in the 90s (back when NO ONE bought vinyl) very underrated album. Gypsy, Love In Store, Hold Me, Eyes of the World etc.
God bless Mick and all the survivors in Lahaina What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. I'm near Santa Rosa Ca. and cluld be facing similar fate soon. What a guy!
Awesome jam with some of the greatest legends in Rock n Roll! The Hawaiian guy is Willie K born in Lahaina,Maui. I once saw him and his band playing at the Tiger Den on Front Street Lahaina and someone requested Tiny Bubbles which he smiled and sang it exactly like Don Ho did, then ripped into Hendrix’s Purple Haze! William Awihilima Kahaiali’i was one of the most popular musicians in the Hawaiian Islands, sadly he passed away in 2020 after a long battle with cancer😔he was 59. Check out the music of Willie K! Aloha from Hawaii🤙🏽
I was fortunate enough to be invited to a private retrospective of Henry Diltz photography at this same Morrison Hotel Gallery hosted by Mick Fleetwood while I lived on Maui. His destruction of Fleetwood’s on Front Street has received much publicity from recent devastating fires in Lahaina, but also I mourn for the total, incredible annihilation of the entire business district and much of the in-town residential blocks.
Yes! The most badass drummah evah! Top of my list of drummers of why I still “play” drums at 55. He’s just the best. “Often imitated never duplicated” he’s got the ADD like me of drumming. We don’t like to do the same over and over. Need a little change up. Thanks for this interview. Long overdue. Cheers! 🍻
Now who doesn’t like the Mick! Another great drummer! He has his own unique style. I would love to see those old rock n roll photos ❤️ I didn’t know he had a restaurant in Maui. Sammy is cute talking like he doesn’t belong, when I am certain there a a few pics of him on those walls. 😊 That was a great interview and jam. Love me some Mac too! ❤️
I have had the privilege of seeing both of these gentlemen live, both really great shows. When I saw Sammy, in Reno NV, he played his show and was then joined by Ronnie Montrose and the rest of that band; and they played the whole Montrose album. Catching that reunion was a bucket list thing. Sadly, it was only about six months before Ronnie decided to leave us. When I saw Fleetwood Mac, also in Reno, I went kind of expecting a pop band who made Rumors; what I saw was a raging blues band led by a seven foot madman behind the drums. Hearing that band live was a completely different experience. Damn, I just wish they could get along.
Sammy looks and acts more like a 30 year old than an old man who he is. Its incredible how rock n roll has kept him young and healthy!! Hes the MAN!! What a legend!!
"Can't help about the shape I'm in Can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin Don't ask me what I think of you I might not give the answer that you want me to."
As a kid The nieghbor had a 69 olds 442, we would ride all summer with the top down and Rumours tape in the 8 track with state of the art push button gigital not the old knobs box. I wouldn't have done it any other way looking back The world was Turning. Thanks Sammy I spent many a year seeing you on stage in VAN HALEN with Eddie Rip.
Both cool cats got a restaurant on Maui, I went there in 2016 for my birthday, lol I can go there any time, I live on Oahu😁 I highly respect Fleetwood and Hagar, grew up and influenced by their music amazing rock n roll style🥁🎸and we got our local boy Willie K y’all! Rip in brother🙏🏼🎸🤘🏼🤘🏼🔥🔥
On a lot of the recordings, he does the greatest little snare drum fills at the end of verses or choruses that no one else would have ever thought of...
I’ve seen Fleetwood Mac twice in San Diego . They are best band I’ve ever seen. And I’ve been to a lot off concerts. And I saw Van Halen with Diamond David Lee Roth.Sammy is great though.👍
Sammy please make el paseo French again. It was our favorite place in the 80s and early 90s. I do enjoy it still but it’s not not not the same! Ps. I ate with you on Easter in there a few years ago. Chiao!
Sammy. You are legendary. Now I live my life from day to day. I wouldn't have it any other way! Make it last....one of my favorite songs... thanks for the years of your brand of ROCK.
I just watched the movie Running Man with Arnold Schwarzenegger from 1987, Mick Fleetwood had a good part in the movie, his character was named Mic, he was a disgruntled musician and the rebel leader.
Sammy's got to be one of this coolest rocker's in the world.
if not thee coolest.
Hands down.
Just saw Hagar on Nash Bridges today
Yea no
This is Sammys best so far what a great grove. How can you not love Mick.
cause he is a libturd,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
An absolutely killer grove. What grove did they play in?
All I have to say is I'm blown away by the big Man on Tele and Vocals. Bad ass musician right there. All do it well, but that guy has THE sound.
That's not a Tele but I hear you, that was impressive as hell!
That’s the late great Willie K, Hawaiian legend. I sat in on drums with him back home in Hawaii years back. The guy played everything from Metallica to The Beatles and his guitar chops and vocals were awe inspiring.
Our homeboy Willie K rip brother🙏🏼🎸🤘🏼
Mick Fleetwood was my neighbor on Maui. I would see him at the store occasionally. Always very friendly and engaging. Dude must be 6 foot 7 or 8!

Thanks Sam. You are the best interviewer. Your access, your background, it’s all perfect with these icons. Legends with legends.
Mick, thank you for your very tasteful drumming and all that you have done for music on this planet. (From Australia)
I used to dislike Sammy Hagar but watching these videos has totally turned me around. He’s a pretty awesome dude. I have total respect for him.

I was at all of those. Called it the Costco Mac Tour. Lol
I saw him at Costco and ran home and grabbed my Rumors LP.
He signed it and a bottle of his cab.
The man is tall!
Fleetwood Mac was the ALL TIME GREATEST BAND of my lifetime.
Fleetwood is the GREATEST DRUMMER of all time!!!
All of the Sammy Hagar interviews are little gems. Always make you smile and feels like you are hanging out.
Also... Mic can play those drums.
Mick Fleetwood always had such groove and style, not unlike Ringo Starr who was the greatest in that sense. Never flashy. Played the song masterfully.
What a jam! I literally ran into Mick once in a bar in Studio City in the 80s. I turned from the bar with my drinks and, boom, face to chest with Mick Fleetwood. He was sweaty and very cordial. I was speechless. A very fond memory.
Sasch... he played there with his band the Zoo, with Billy Thorpe and Rick Vito

For an old fella thats snorted a line of cocaine an inch wide and 700 miles long.
I love watching Mick behind the kit.
Mick is great ... love your playing ...and accent Mick ...
Sammy's videos are so entertaining. I'm a fan since Montrose. I can't wait for his interview with Bob Dylan

I wish Mick would have said more about the writing and talents of Peter Green and that Peter told him to call the band Fleetwood Mac.

Mick Fleetwood DOES have a groove and sound of his own. In a drummer and I can say that with some expertise. Lindsey is a unique player. VERY.
I am too and I agree. Same category as Ringo, with respect to no one can emulate either one's very unique style.
Lindsey really carries that band. I realized that when I saw them in concert last time.
On a lot of the recordings, he does the greatest little snare drum fills at the end of verses or choruses that no one else would have ever thought of...
