when Sammy was in his 20's he had one of the best voices in rock history. strange that in his 70's he still has it. a true legend. same with Billy.
Sammy aint no 70 years old. Get the fuck out of here.
Oh dang. I'm almost 50, so I guess he is. Wow.
I like his vocals better now honestly.
You listen to sammy WHEN he was with Ronnie Montrose and his wail will definatly speak volumes about the pipes he had..
..Sammy's voice has always been good, but I think it was better in his mid-late 40's than it was in his 20's..more mature, developed, and more powerful..basically, from about VOA, until the end of his tenure with Van Halen...
@@dyer2cycle Treat yourself to the album...MONTROSE
Sammy's pipes are stellar..
14:25 Billy mentioning his guitar maker John Bolin from Boise, Idaho! Just goes to show how respectful Billy is. A true gentleman.
I wrote a comment earlier about how much I enjoyed this video, but it turned out to be very cathartic as well. I haven’t played guitar in months, after a period of illness. I’ve been well enough to play for a while now, and I often think about playing, but I just haven’t been feeling it. Something about watching these two great musicians hanging out, talking about music, playing music, lit a spark in me that ignited a need to share in the joy of making music. F the tv, I warmed up the amp, got my gear set up, plugged in my Strat, jammed to some great tunes, and had a good ol’ time. I just hope this blister doesn’t take too long to heal! The power of music is universal and eternal!
Great comment and glad your starting feel better..rock onnnnnn
billy doesn't wow you with lightning speed arpeggios and scales...he's all about quality, passion and feeling of rock/blues. it sets him apart from all the others. that's why all the greats can appreciate this master blues man guitarist.
@Terry Allen Sutherland Indy Highlander amen!
Plays with TASTE/SOUL…all these soulless shredders, can you name one memorable lick, riff, etc….nope
@@mr.smithgnrsmith7808 amen!
It’s Texas blues at its finest
I don't know if you know who Taj Farrant is but a few years ago he was in his lightning licks phase and I recommended Billy (along with David Gilmour) as two guitarists to listen to in order to really flesh out his abilities.
I still come back to watch this on repeat. 8 months and it's still one of my favorites. Sammy and ZZ Top should tour together... I mean who wouldn't go see that? Sammy and Billy still sounding amazing. Sammy's voice just fits with the ZZ Top sound. Both Living Legends still with so much left to give !!! 🔥🔥🔥
I literally did exactly the same thing... It's so cool... It's just freaking cool 🎯
I've seen this many times and it never gets old. You can tell Sammy is happy during this one. You can see him peeking at how he plays the cord. Rock on Sammy.
tune your a string down to g! Try it, you'll like it
The sound.👌 So cool to see Sammy geeking out, Billy enjoyed himself too. It gave me goosebumps.
Sammy says aliens kidnapped him and altered his future and gave him his gift. I know I would not believe that statement either without having done mega research on abductions. People are now realizing that aliens are very real. For those that do not believe do some research because to reflexively deny this or think it impossible is a great big huge mistake. People are starting to pay more attention and things are changing quickly. We know they're real.
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Yes he was singing Dusty’s parts. Sounded fantastic. You’ve got to give it to Billy, simply incredible!!
How do you not love these 2 absolute legends!
Only love one, is what it is no explanation required.✌🏻
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
I wouldn't be the guitar player I am today without either of these guys! My first concert was 1972 or 3 with Sammy Hagar and Boston in Las Cruces New Mexico but ZZ top was one of my first to light a fire under my ass and made me learn to play guitar. Billy Gibbons is whiteout a dought who I learned to play guitar from. Simply a legend and an amazing guitar player, one of the best hands down!!
Those two guys had SOOO MUCH playtime on the soundtracks of my youth. I sang lead vocals in a band called Cliques in the 70s and theirs was the music I learned about the true power of rock, rhythm and blues on.
The guitar, the voice, the band, the heritage. Simply fantastic.
Billy is so cold. I bet he pisses ice cubes.
Awesome stuff! I was 10 in 1975 when my older sister ordered records from the record club back then; one of the LPs they sent her that she didn't want was ZZ Top - Fandango. I saw these guys on the cover in cowboy hats and Nudie suits, and said to myself, WTF is this? I decided to play it, loved it, and 47 years later I haven't looked back! ZZ still kicks ass! I have every album! RIP Dusty
Well in 75 I was 17 years old ànd had seen my first show(zepplin) and my 3rd show (ZZ Top) with Humble Pie squeezed between them.
Holy cow, Sammy is 2 years older than Billy. I'm shocked! He looks extremely well for his age.
Super mega corny dork, but loving life as we all would hope.
He probably doesn't smoke and drink heavily
@@missingremote4388 also a key to success. Normally I’d be a smart ass, but this is true.
Sammy might be an Alien i even pull out the Calculator the dood is 76 come on man hes an Alien
Mas tequila!
Been a ZZ fan since I was very young... thanks for bringing this to us Sammy!... and thanks to Reverend Billy G for being so awesome!
Waitin' for the Bus/Jesus just left Chicago is one of my all time favorite songs.
Great video! I’m a huge Billy Gibbons/ZZ Top fan, and to see him relaxed and talking about music, then playing a little on that beautiful guitar was a real treat! Sammy Hagar rocks, and he was great in this!
BFG and Sammy playing and singing= goosebumps! Wow!!!
They did sound really good together too. Sammy sounds great with background vocals that can go high. Soon as Billy opened his mouth, check the look on Sammy’s face.
Yeah, no shit! This is just bad ass
Two of my favorite guitarists , singer song writers ! I would love to jam with those guys any day of the week , week of the year , any year in my life ! That would be an ultimate day , for any musician , I don't care who you are ! Two cool cats , doing what they LOVE , & loving what they do ! It doesn't get any better than that . Well , maybe heaven , but we ain't there yet . Rock on , people !
These 2 have been heroes to me forever. Recently I saw Billy do a show with some Austin locals... Jimmie Vaughn, Whipper Layton, Sue Foley, etc. called "The Jungle Show" at Clifford Antones bar/stage on 6th Street. Seeing him at a small venue like that was a huge huge treat. Billy of the '70s, esp. early '70s, was absolutely killer with the staccato notes, wicked vibrato, etc. He hasn't played like that in decades.
We are so fortunate to have these 2 awesome musicians together and filmed for future viewing. Timeless! ❤
Were so proud of you Sammy for connecting with all our good musicians!! Keep rockin!!
I could watch this a hundred times; the love and respect is infectious from two of the best.
Man, Billy's tone on guitar is JUST PERFECT! Mean and bluesy!
Love these guys! Billy’s the reason I play guitar.
Sammy and Billy singing together is pure magic.
Sammy is always so down to earth and personable.
Im a ZZTop fan and i loved it. Even the camera crew knew something dpecial was happening.
Goes to show you're never to old to rock n roll, both these dudes in their 70's
It was a pleasure to watch Sammy and Billy interact that way. You guys made my day! 🤘🏼
G.O.A.T.!!!! ....Forever in the wind Dusty.....Sammy you hit the mark !!!! Thank you.... Rockin Blues on!!!!
Ever notice zztop's beat sounds like horses galloping? Makes me smile every time. When I used to drive into Houston I could always count on a zz song to come on the radio while I was on the loop. Never fail.🎶🎸💙
You watch this... You can't help but smile.
He still looks good. He still can perform. He seems to still love what he does for a living. Who has had a more charmed rock and roll life than Sammy Hagar?
Im not a wine drinker (or a drinker at all), but Sammy's happy personality makes every minute of this a joy to watch!
Oh my God, I'm healing. Had to praise God
Great interview!Gibnons is one of the best, honest musicians in this world! I even would say,his a living legend!
I saw Sammy back in the mid 70's and have ZZ TOP in the 70's as well and many more times since. Thanks for the memories Dusty 🙏
Billy Gibbons is the coolest cat in the biz . ZZ Top is one of my all time favorites . One of the loudest bands I’ve ever heard too . Always a great show
If you can be as happy as these guys when you get older you have won at life. Great watch! Legends.
Well these guys absolutely did win at life. Always nice to see the guys who haven't lost the love for their craft.
My heart started to glow when Sammy started to sing Jesus Just Left Chicago with Billy. I'm so glad he asked him to play that as you could genuinely feel the excitement Sammy had welling up inside to hear those legendary riffs.
Just saw Billy and the Gang for the first time 9 days ago and he/they played killer.
Two of the best
I never tire of Billy Gibbons and ZZ Top. Billy plays the blues and I LOVE IT!!!
Sammy what an honor you got to be with a true legend of blues hats off brother from Brantford ontario canada ❤❤❤❤❤
I was actually lucky enough to have been born in 1960 and lived through the heyday of this. True greatness!
I'm from Dallas Texas I live in South Florida now but I grew up in Dallas Texas and I used to go and see ZZ Top at a bar called Mother Blues before they made their first album .
Billy Gibbons always the gentleman. What a great combo Sammy and Billy together having fun. This was just awesome.
Maaaaan! Hearing Billy hit the high harmony over Hagar was worth the watch. Great interview Sammy. Two legends there 👍🏼👍🏼
lol, I caught that too, wasn't noticing which one
hit it but it was great.
Yeah I noticed that he was singing Dusty's parts too. Was wondering if he could do it after all these years of doing the lead line but he did. RIP Dusty
Watching these guys being so relaxed in their collaboration slash conversation is so amazing. They have great fun talking with each other. Priceless !!! I love these characters and their music. They are tuned in every day of my life.
I got to meet him. He came into the place I work, The Turnip Truck in Nashville. He was so nice and said let’s take a pic which I didn’t expect. I was as happy as a little girl!!
Love this, both legends in my eyes, saw ZZ a couple times back in the 70s, and was spinning Sammy's vinyl also in the 70s
I always loved ZZ Top’s sound. And Billy’s equipment set up, combined with his Texas blues style of playing is a perfect blend for their style of music. At least that’s the way I always felt about it. I’m a big Sammy Hagar fan as well. And to see the two of them together jamming out a little bit was pretty freaking awesome! I really enjoyed this video! Thanks for sharing. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to see if I can find Jesus in New Orleans. PEACE! ✌️ 😎
I LOVE MANY MUSICIANS OF BLUES COUNTRY ROCK JAZZ AND FOLKSONGS......because i have 68 years you understand.....i'm éclectique mélomane😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤😅😅😅😅THANK'S FOR THIS VIDéO/ARCHIVES❤❤❤
Bless these 2 GREAT Legends!
Watch them as much as you can. We`re not getting any younger folks.
They are having so much fun..just the music..thats all that matter.
I’d love to see them record waiting on the bus together. Sammy’s voice is perfect for that song.
Two cool musicians in their element! Great program Sammy and loved how kicked back and cool Billy is..
Two legends having fun!Doesnt get better than that!
My first concert was in 1972/ ZZ Top/ I was 13, saw them again at 16, great shows
My good friend 55years ago for 3 dollars ft worth tx at panther hall we saw ZZ Top front row still one of the top concerts ever
What a GORGEOUS venue!!! Would love to be there for ZZ Top and great wine!!!
I’ve been to many shows at Mountain Winery over the past 30 years. It’s a beautiful venue, and small enough to see the performance from just about any seat in the house. Highly recommend it. 👍🏼
Can't help but notice Elwood Francis rocking the mohawk... his look has completely changed. Rock N Roll
I wish bands would do more of this live when they play together.
You Tube algorithm for the win. Listening to the two of them sing... Sammy was wasted on R&R (and I love Sammy). Put a smile on my face!
Two great iconic rock voices. Bravo gentlemen!
Both Sammy and billy are legendary rockers, I grew up rocking to them both back in the 78 and 80s. High school day having a great time. God bless them both.
There's nothing like the love of good music and good people. You are both Good People that make Great Music. Rawk On!
I used to live just down the road from the Mountain Winery. Used be called Paul Mason Winery. Saw quite a few bands there. It's a great small venue where you are sitting right next to the act. Kenny Loggins was especially good.
Stay on the man's hands! They must be documented for future generations of guitarists!!
agreed. cursed cameraman.
I had an occsion to meet him when I was driving cab. Due to my age, I didn't recognize him at first. The thing I remember most is he is one of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet.
Sammy is a genuine great guy! 💯 Glad to see Billy still out there doing his thing. My love for both of these musicians goes back to the late 70s. Montrose is still 🔥 for me! Never really liked Van Halen until Sammy joined. If you don't like ZZ Top, we can't be friends...PERIOD! 😂🤘🏼🎸🎤🎶
My all time favorite zz songs
I'm so sad to learn zztop played right in my backyard 😢❤❤❤ I hope they come back and give more concerts... I just can't stop being amazed 🥰🥰🥰😇❤️🫶❤️😘
I saw ZZ Top way back during the Eliminator (do you all remember the car?) tour at The Cow Palace in San Francisco (Okay, Brisbane, CA) the lasers were amazing the fuzzy guitars were amazing, the spinning guitars and the band disappearing was amazing, but of course it came down to the lyrics, vocals and musicianship. Like Rush, The Police, ZZ Top makes incredible sound out of a 3 man band. Thanks for the video!
Awesome.... ! I have ZZ Top so many times... starting way back in around "72"... and each time I hear that guitar... It just makes me smile... He's like BB... not a lot of notes.. but every one is just friggin perfect. Sammy... You sounded great singing with Billy.. NICE Video... thanks...
Yea, it seems like they used to come to San Antonio, you could see them them for about $2.00 bucks or so back then....
Damn Sammy! I want your life… to be clear be like you! I watch your channel, watch your vids listen to your music… in short I’ve been a fan of yours since the 70’s! You look good sound great and give me the inspiration to keep jamming and smiling! I love it! I love you Sammy!
Billy has to be the most laid back, coolest cat in the business, just an awesome player and seems like the guy you can just sit down with , grab a beer and talk music and he will still have the same enthusiasm as he did when he himself was 16....
Man, does that sound good! Can you imagine these two busking on the street corner?
At heart I'm a head banger, love metal but you can't have a music collection without ZZ in it.
This is one of my favorite episodes EVER! Thankyou Sammy and Billy! Absolute GOOSEBUMPS!
Godbless ~
Zack Daniels.
Waitin' on the Bus' guitar hook is the epitome of how a simple, unpretentious, tastefully-played riff can turn into a grab you by the balls hard rock, bluesy classic. Billy Gibbons is the sh*t.
Sammy, that was awesome. I grew up in Houston and have always been a ZZ Top fan. Much Respect to both of y’all
Sammy best 20 minutes Ive spent in a long time!! You guys were awesome together!!
This was truly a privilege to see these two legends jam!
Two of my all time favs!!! I'll be rewatching this for years!
TWO GREAT MUSICIANS TOGETHER. Made MY DAY.
As usual, Sammy and another bad ass episode... Much love to you 🍻🍻
Took a Dad beating when I got home from tres ambres concert Jacksonville Colliseum but it was Worth it ❤️
I've seen a lot of these but that little casual duet sure made me smile.
I've loved Waitin' for the Bus / Jesus just left Chicago since I first heard it almost 50 years ago.
That transition !!
Billy Gibbons is the greatest ever! Him and Sammy together was awesome. Looks like they had a lot of fun.
mad... my fav guitarist along with SRV - love his work his coolness & simplicity of changing into diff styles
Speechless.....
My whole teenage yrs is 5 min......
Love both these guys! Billy G is one of my absolute favorite guitarists…soooo many people only know ZZ Top’s MTV generation of music. I loved Eliminator and beyond, but man oh man their first Album ( and many of their other early ones like Texas, Fandango, Rio Grande Mud and El Loco) are out of this world good music)
Great show Sammy!
You 2 are amazing Thank You for all the years.
Sammy you are living a dream man. Billy has the best Gibson guitars, well deserved as well.
Pure joy. Love Billy. Love Sammy. Thanks, guys.
Sammy seeing you two guys in that little cubby hole was way better than seeing you perform with the whole band I had goosebumps and I wasn't even there cheers from Atlantic Canada you definitely made a lot of musicians and jealous today👍😎🇨🇦
He has one of the greatest tones I have ever heard, which for me, started with the live side of Fandango.
have ya'll noticed how little the hand on the neck of the guitar moves? its how he put his chords together and how he puts his fingers on the strings. minimal effort with max results
I can only hopebto b this cool when I'm 70
