Excellent presentation, very interesting and informative. It's a brilliant modification. Just one point though, the imperial unit for the measurement of torque is lbf-ft not ft-lbf. The latter is used to quantify power e.g. 1 HP = 550 ft-lbf /sec. Just sayin'.
Ha ha thanks. I’m only now discovering the importance of torque settings, and I am of the 1st generation that was taught using cm and m. So it’s all new. I did Google it. More confused than ever. It does say a foot lb is a rotational force. Isn’t that what’s being applied here? Thanks for watching 🙏
@Teacher-T-Thailand Many thanks for the reply. I agree, it is confusing. The only point I'm making is that for rotational torque quantification, the unit of force is stated first, whether it's metric or imperial eg. lbf/ft or Nm/m (and not ft/lbf or m/Nm). However, the unit of ft/lbf is used to quantify power when a weight is lifted against the force of gravity vertically. In this case the power exerted equates to a value of 1 horse power when a weight of 550 lbf is raised by 1 ft in 1 second. This is measured in ft/lbf. So sorry for being pedantic it's my ocd taking hold. Please keep up the good work, I find your channel most interesting and am considering buying a super meteor. I'm off for a test ride soon. Hi, TTT. Could you explain a bit more about the gear ratio of the wheel pulley (38T v 40T) and more importantly, the real-world affect? It probably doesn't make much of a difference but I would like to wrap my head around the concept. Thanks.
Sure. The standard rear sprocket on the Meteor 650 has 40 teeth. If we changed this sprocket to one with 38 teeth, it means only 38 links in the chain required to turn the wheel 1 revolution instead of 40. The effect is lower engine rpm at high speed. Which to me is a good thing. Because for a cruiser i always felt the Meteor sounded too high a speed revving engine. Slightly slower acceleration on low speeds, but only milliseconds. Not really noticeable. I constantly gott 26:kpl from my Meteor. Since the belt drive conversion it has achieved 27kpl. Early days yet. I will check over the next few tanks of fuel. So that is a major advantage. Robert has designed the rear sprocket of the belt drive to be an equivalent of 38 teeth of a normal sprocket. Lower revs, better mpg. It's a winner in my view 🙏

Very interesting swap. I am curious about long term use, still owning a belt driven bike (2002 Bmw F650 CS, bought new) I went though a few issues during bike's life and 3 belts so far (102k km later), notably freshly laid sticky road gravel, which did cause some concerns.
Belt drive bikes have been common since 1985 over millions of km in road applications - fresh laid sticky road gravel is a concern. Having said that, this belt is the latest Gates carbon fiber belt, unlike the one on your BMW, but still a road bike. Yes s**t happens, but I did 160,000 km on the last belt, while living at the end of a 1 km long gravel drive, and pretty sure I might have gone through some roadworks over those 13 years....... I and the other Riders that have covered literally millions of km with a belt drive, cannot be simply that lucky. The belt drive has not only stood the test of time, but a proven concept for a road bike.
@@nicolaspechoux1245 As I said earlier, that is not the same carbon fiber tensile cord belt as installed on the Super Meteor. This is a Gates Poly Chain Carbon GT belt and not introduced until 2006-07. As the belt is a common Gates industrial item, price is not in the same range as a gold plated, bike specific, spare part. @@Teacher-T-Thailand Indeed, Gates. And only available from BMW, as they were exclusive dealer for this oem part, at gold plated price...
In any case, belt drives are for street use.
Do RS Tech offer belt conversion kits for RE 350 bikes?
Sadly not. The front pulley would be too small, causing the belt to turn too tight a radius. It doesn’t work to Gates belts parameters. Other brands are out there, but you take your risk. 🙏
Faced any power lag as compared to chain drive?
I can give you a long and complicated engineering explanation, should you wish to PM me, but the short answer is no. Here is an unbiased US Dept of Energy report giving that 98% efficiency, and comparing to V-belts www.energy.gov/sites/prod/files/2014/04/f15/replace_vbelts_motor_systemts5.pdf
And a technical paper of chain VS belt with the same result: core.ac.uk/download/pdf/55693235.pdf
Not at all, and so far better mpg / kpl, but need another couple of tanks of fuel to be used ti confirm 100% 🙏
Do you have te specs of the belt, is it (Gates 14MGT-1890 -20mm)?
It's certainly a Gates belt. Details are here. You can ask for specifics. rstech.my-online.store/product/royal-enfield-650-belt-drive
How to get it in india?
Already some sold and shipped to India. It can be ordered here: www.royalenfieldbeltdrive.com/product-page/super-meteor-shotgun-650-belt-drive-kits. 🙏
beau travail.savez-vous s il existe un revendeur sur l Europe!! merci
Yes, they will post world wide, already posted to Europe. Link to website in video description. 🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand Thank you for your response, unfortunately it is impossible to validate an order via the included site.
@@pam493 ahhh yes, They are out of stock at the moment. Selling very well. They should get more stock in the next 2 weeks. Try the website again then 🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand 👍thank you and another very nice video until the next time
@pam493 J'ai commandé un kit belt-drive pour mon RE Super Meteor 650. Il arrivera et, espérons-le, sera installé d'ici juin 24. Je suis dans le Cher (18). Je serai heureux de vous montrer les résultats. Rob
Why did you change it?
Lots of reasons. Smoother gear changing, no oily mess, lasts longer etc th-cam.com/video/kyguL4T86k4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PNg7XvHqj9eriRxf
@@Teacher-T-Thailand thank you!!!
Is it success
Nearly 1,000 Km now on the belt so far. Everything ok
Sounds interesting, Is this belt drive available for the Triumph Speed 400.
Now there is a question! I will ask for you
@@Teacher-T-Thailand In the future if there is any kit to modify for belt driver for my bike. I will opt for it.
To my knowledge that is not yet available, nor have I looked if it is feasible - not all bikes are. - I am eyeing up my T-120 Bonneville for a belt right now......................
Faz um vídeo rodando com a motocicleta 🇧🇷🏍
Yes I plan to soon after at least 500km on the belt 🙏
Parece que não precisa adaptar quase nada para isso e tive a impressão de que nem a balanca da suspensão precisa tirar para este processo!
Removing and replacing the rear wheel is the hardest job. 🙏
Life of this belt ?
If tensioned correctly and checked every 3,000 km, reports of 100 00 to 150,000 km. It's an Industrial Gates Poly carbonate belt.
It's hard seems to be
Yes Yoda it is easy not. But you can show this video to skilled mechanics which will help them fit the drive 😂🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand yes..thanks
Congratulations you just lost 2 h.p. to the rear wheel.
Not at all. Have a look at the comparison video : Super Meteor 650 vs Interceptor 650: Cruiser King or Retro Classic?

Sacrilege...!!!!
*Crap Game*
So is dripping oil all over the roads and into the environment every year from a chain. 😂🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand Heathen...! 😂
But each to their own... Ride safe 👍
*Crap Game* 🎉
What if you don't own a over hanging curb?😂
Some belt dive installers have reported just disconnecting the suspension at the bottom, and lowering the swing arm when the bike is on the centre stand. There is just enough room to evolve the wheel tilted at an angle, but it is tight. 🙏
