    He was hilarious, too bad his story has such a sad ending. I don't think he gets the credit today for how big of an icon he was

    I absolutely love this! It’s very neat to hear him describe a time that my parents grew up in. The stories feel familiar because I was raised on this genre of music and have in turn exposed my own children to it. He lead a very interesting life to say the least.

      I have always loved pure country when the hard rock was coming in when I was a young teen. I hated the music and I love the old country twang. My sisters were listening to the Rolling Stones and groups like that and here I was listening to Tammy Wynette and Merle Haggard.

    Faron Young was ten times the singer that Webb Pierce ever thought he was

    • @2packs4sure
      @2packs4sure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Faron was a "singer",,, a vocalist,, he had amazing range and perfect pitch and timing.
      Webb was a stylist,, he had amazing range and poor pitch control and bad timing,, and HE'D admit it,,, lol....
      I love em' both but if forced to pick a favorite I'd pick Webb...
      Have you read Diane Diekman's Faron book?
      It's excellent.

    • @2packs4sure
      @2packs4sure  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jeweldotson3891 I know EXACTLY what you're saying !!
      There's a famous story about a drunk Faron asking Webb " who in the HELL ever told you you could sing and where in the hell would you have been without my band backing you up and Webb just smiled and said "I'd a just got up there and sang my 13 number ones in a row".. lol
      Understand that Webb and Faron were VERY close and Webb NEVER got mad at Faron no matter how crazy he got...
      I heard an interview with Faron where he talked about how much he owed Webb and how Webb was literally like a daddy to him in the early years..

      Country Johnny Mathis? Franks would refer to him as 'Maffis'. ''Thugs' became 'fugs', well, you get the idea, LOL.
