My grandfather told me a story about how him and a friend went to the Louisiana hayride in Shreveport. Elvis got on stage and performed but nobody really knew him. The girls were crazy about some guy named smokey. So my grandfather his friend and Elvis went to a truck stop to get a bite to eat. A year or two later Elvis was the big time.
that’s crazy, my grandfather was there at the louisiana hayride too! he’d always retell the story of seeing elvis before the big fame. my grandfather told me that him and his buddies were about to leave because they didn’t really care for the other performer and had never heard of elvis before, but they ended up staying because they enjoyed elvis’s voice and style so much. also such a cool experience that your grandfather got to grab a bite with him as well! must be such a fond memory to look back upon.
I wish hanger-ons would stop making up stories about him to make $ off his name. In every interview I've heard in these interviews, he is polite & patient. I'm just now hearing him talk. His voice can't be matched.
I don't believe Elvis would have ever stopped being the most famous person on earth and would never ever stopped making big bucks if 7 years after this he hadn't passed, R.I.P. Elvis, I used to go collect soda bottles to buy your records as a kid in the 60's, my father was from Yazoo city Mississippi he also played music and told us stories of running across Elvis a couple times, once passing Elvis and the old car him and his band was in, Elvis and his band headed back towards Memphis and my dad and his band headed to Shreveport to the hay ride which my dad said he thought Elvis was headed from there because when my father got to Shreveport they told them Elvis had just played there then the time Elvis got turned down by the Oprey and my dad and his band walked past Elvis leaving with just that broken guitar neck in his hands crying and my dad said all his band members said wonder what happened to that kid, so the movie had that part right eventhough at the time in the early 50's my dad and his band members had no clue they were looking at the soon to be king of rock and roll they just thought he was some kid that played a strange kind of music to which they thought would never get off the ground, my father played the old style country music and that's all they ever really cared for because they were from the older generation, but after years went past and Elvis became the greatest entertainer that ever lived my dad said he was proud especially because Elvis was a boy from his home state of Mississippi.
He looked tired from work, from coming off the plane and not being himself that day. Yet he tried to be as polite as possible and professional. He gave to so many people. I think the people who were around him could’ve tried a little harder and protect him and not be so greedy in managing. He was pushed to an awful limit. Almost every single household in America and other parts of the world watched this man perform; if it was not at a concert it was on TV or listen to him on the radio.
I thought it was odd that an entertainer of Elvis magnitude never had this show filmed professionally. Elvis' manager wanted to make money and Elvis made films, but important concerts such as the first concert outside Vegas in the return period at Houston wasn't filmed, neither New York or the first 69 Vegas show or others in the 70s, real shame a missed opportunity. Other performers were quick to perform world tours too. The Colonel wasn't the best to Elvis.
The Colonel wasn't a real Colonel, he was a crook, and he is the one who used Elvis, got doctors to get him hooked on drugs, and took 50 % of his earnings! Tom Parker should have gone to jail!
His manager never looked after him…treated him like a golden goose and squeezed every last dollar out of him. A slow and tragic decline to a great man !
Bless his heart, this breaksy heart 💔... it's a shame his father didn't stand up for him and tell all those around him that his son needed a rest and make sure he got it. All those money hungry people make me sick.
He was a great and humble man, it was terrible that he got addicted. I talked to Johnny Cash in the 80s, and he told me about how they both got addicted. I spent a lot of time onstage in front of thousands of people, and I can see how easy it is to let your fear get in the way and cause you to turn to drugs and alcohol to overcome the fear. I honestly think that his fear of letting his fans down led to his demise.
Elvis is such a kind man he tries not to interrupt people but when he does he apologizes so much for interrupting. He’s such and awesome man

Our Elvis So Gorgeous, Loving, Caring n Talent 2 ! 🥰😍💞❣% ! 🤘!
The king,he's the king of treating people good!!
It was rare certainty back then to somebody as famous and as influencial as Elvis was/is and have such a sense of humour..if he some good people around him he should of lived to ripe old age but still what a legacy 👍🏴🏴
His eyes are glassy looks pretty high. Poor guy he was caught in cycle. Amazing performer with a wonderful sense of humor
I guess he was only human after-all. Most everybody in that field is on drugs today and it seems to be expected and the norm.
He was not high here. So I dont know WTF you are seeing. His speech is not slurred, he is very attentive to all the questions being asked.....Yea he was high later....especially the Aloha Interview in November of 1972....but not high here.

@@johnclaba1457😅😅You don't slur on the medications packs he was prescribed.
He was always so polite!
Learned that from his Louisiana Mamma!
He is always an angel
What I find so amazing is after his show Elvis would sing more after the show.
That was my great uncle pinning the badge on him.❤🙂
That’s dope bro
Bullshit
For real? How AWESOME.
Cool! I wish they had zoomed in on it so we could see it. Can you describe it for us?
Yeh Right?..And my nan was brushing his hair.
NO one could be better ELVIS was and will always be KING!
MICHAEL JACKSON COULD BE AND BEATLES
@@jacksonfanglove7387 you cant comparr a band with a solo artist, idiot
@@jacksonfanglove7387 lol, sure
lmao that gose to michale jackson bro
So does Michael jackson.
I've followed him since I was a child I just adore him there all guilty of his distraction they were selfish and creedy and no one cared for him as a person ❤
I was born in 1990 and to be honest my mom is obsessed with him as for every other woman in the world haha but I never really got into Elvis til maybe I was 15 and I don’t know why but my mom showed me his movies and interviews and he really does make you feel like the only person in the room. He was such a sweet and loving and caring guy I only wish I could of got to see him perform or met him and I bet he would have the greatest stories to tell. I saw the new Elvis movie and it was amazing Austin Butler needs an Oscar so does Tom hanks and Baz!
I was born in 1991, am gonna be 32 years old this Saturday, and have loved him since I was 8 years old 😊
SO GREAT. LOVE YOU ELVIS❤
What happened to him was so sad. No real rehabs and no interventions back then. He was an amazing singer and musician. He was brilliant.
A severely depressed man with an overly indulging entourage--the "Perfect Storm" .
In a word: HUMBLE!
Are we just gonna ignore that he was a pedophile and a rapists???
@@zhanewilliams1043 Where's the prove in making such an allegation?
Yes or Great!.......
He finds it hard to do normal questions, as do I. Music brings alive his soul . He also felt most relaxed talking about the garbage. Something light hearted and funny. Something relatable and human. That’s why I love Elvis. He probably had to be on benzo’s to deal with this
He looks so handsome and good person
The King of rock and roll!!!!
Andy Kaufman!!!
Loved Elvis since I was a kid
He's completely hammered in this interview
Reminds me of an Ozzy Osbourne interview in the 80s. Same look in the eyes.
That's what I thought yet so many comments from adoring fans. 7 years later he was dead. .
Completely. Dr would pump him with pain pills and depressants
@@1940limitedyeah,7 years that's a very short time, so sad .. and he changed a lot in that short time,he was deformed. . He looks really nice, beautiful and handsome here! I ❤Elvis sooo much! I was born on January7th and he was born on January 8th but 45 years earlier!
Salute 🫡 Capt O
How the hell did he keep his cool with some of the bollocks questions? What a brilliant guy!
That's an exhausted man right there
Me gusta oir como habla, escuchar como rie, da alegria. Por siempre Elvis
❤❤❤❤❤
How interesting 😯 Do you know what year this was?
My grandmother was there. She was only 8. Nobody knew who he was at the time but the crowd went wild according to her.

Elvis, I used to go collect soda bottles to buy your records as a kid in the 60's, my father was from Yazoo city Mississippi he also played music and told us stories of running across Elvis a couple times, once passing Elvis and the old car him and his band was in, Elvis and his band headed back towards Memphis and my dad and his band headed to Shreveport to the hay ride which my dad said he thought Elvis was headed from there because when my father got to Shreveport they told them Elvis had just played there then the time Elvis got turned down by the Oprey and my dad and his band walked past Elvis leaving with just that broken guitar neck in his hands crying and my dad said all his band members said wonder what happened to that kid, so the movie had that part right eventhough at the time in the early 50's my dad and his band members had no clue they were looking at the soon to be king of rock and roll they just thought he was some kid that played a strange kind of music to which they thought would never get off the ground, my father played the old style country music and that's all they ever really cared for because they were from the older generation, but after years went past and Elvis became the greatest entertainer that ever lived my dad said he was proud especially because Elvis was a boy from his home state of Mississippi.
we miss you, elvis
Elvis and my dad became good friends while in the army stationed in Germany
Cool,do you have any pictures or stories?
He looked tired from work, from coming off the plane and not being himself that day. Yet he tried to be as polite as possible and professional.
He gave to so many people. I think the people who were around him could’ve tried a little harder and protect him and not be so greedy in managing.
He was pushed to an awful limit.
Almost every single household in America and other parts of the world watched this man perform; if it was not at a concert it was on TV or listen to him on the radio.
He was god damn wonderfulllll I have watched this over & over & overrr 😍😍
Vancouver Canada! my nana pat was at that concert she raved about it lol to me years later! i couldn’t even imagine what it was like ❤🎉😂
He wasn't even handsome. He was beautiful
Lovely gentle spirit
Greatest singer ever. But such a sad story. 😢
Great interview...Thank you!
ELVIS presley quando sei bello anzi Superbellissimo ❤❤❤
Beautiful man
Elvis was so awesome
He was tired, unwell, and had eye problems. He really was feeling poorly. He keeps coughing and his eyes are glazed. 😢
I actually was at this concert when I was a kid.
Hardest working man in showbiz
I thought it was odd that an entertainer of Elvis magnitude never had this show filmed professionally. Elvis' manager wanted to make money and Elvis made films, but important concerts such as the first concert outside Vegas in the return period at Houston wasn't filmed, neither New York or the first 69 Vegas show or others in the 70s, real shame a missed opportunity. Other performers were quick to perform world tours too. The Colonel wasn't the best to Elvis.
Reason over exposure
You’re so right. Just saw the film, it’s a sad sad world.
The Colonel wasn't a real Colonel, he was a crook, and he is the one who used Elvis, got doctors to get him hooked on drugs, and took 50 % of his earnings! Tom Parker should have gone to jail!
Love to have met him . Yes looked tired.
Proper southern gentleman
His manager never looked after him…treated him like a golden goose and squeezed every last dollar out of him. A slow and tragic decline to a great man !
Bless his heart, this breaksy heart 💔... it's a shame his father didn't stand up for him and tell all those around him that his son needed a rest and make sure he got it. All those money hungry people make me sick.
Watching this for the first time is like he's still here, alive in 2024. The close ups of his face make me feel as if I met him. Haha.
Elvis looks great here
He looks tired as fuck, sad.. he should have went to an island and relaxed a few years.
Its pretty cool, my DNA test states sometime in the past Elvis family line, mixed with min. I have some King DNA
Lol no he doesn’t
@sam buddy & Co oh shut up.
@@zerocool1344 maybe Gilligan's Island? Ginger would have been pursuing him endlessly, but Mary Ann was more his type.
It shame elvis presley passed away he seen a cool guy have a drink with him and talk about music and life
That would be great.
I was watching this video and the whole time I'm thinking get the man some water.Damm! I can't believe nobody got him something to drink.
