  • This granola recipe, adapted very slightly from Nekesia Davis of Early Bird Foods, is like muesli after a vampy makeover. Olive oil, maple, brown sugar and coarse salt form a rich, shaggy crust on wholesome innards like oats, pecans, and coconut shards. SUBSCRIBE TO FOOD52 ►► f52.co/2HN7Dp8

Trader Joe’s literally has ALL of these ingredients including those beautiful coconut chips, which were my favorite ingredient in this recipe. I made this today and not only did my friends take all the leftovers home, it even made my house smell SO GOOD. Perfect thing to make before guests come to visit. I added golden raisins to mine the last 10 min of cooking to add even more chewy sweet goodness. Thank you for this recipe!

Okay, I did what you said. I made the granola. The changes I made were I added one cup of pistachios, 1/4 cup of almonds, a quarter cup of brown sugar, and a half a cup of maple syrup. Plus, all the other ingredients. I purchased everything at Trader Joe's literally strictly for this recipe because I had none of it in my pantry. I did take the advice of a commenter below and only used a little bit of sugar compared to no sugar because I think it will add flavor. I'll let you know how it turns out. So far so good.

To make more clusters, during the last few minutes of the baking, I pressed down firmly and let it COOL without moving it around. It cools more stuck together, and you can break them up as you want.

I made this using coconut oil instead of olive oil and it was yummy. I also added dried cranberries just before done. Love your channel.

Oh, I just added a half a teaspoon of vanilla because my wife thinks it will add a nice Aroma to it as well.

Didn't have maple syrup so I subbed with agave. It works. Made this four times already, now a family favourite. Thanks Food52!

I loved this recipe, made it a couple of times and found the brown sugar totally unnecessary so I have made it without ever since

Agree. I love it without the brown sugar and it works perfectly with an almond milk.

I have a serious mental problem. I have a similar granola that is "healthy". But I eat it all in about 4 days. My body just consumes those toasted carbs. The good thing is, I realized this and put it in the freezer so that I can't just go and eat it. HAAA! I'm in the freezer, crackin' a tooth just to get to my granola. I need help. What a nut. MMMMmmmm....nuts.
