This video is 3 years old. Why am I just seeing now? I've always wondered why I sometimes hit these up and back foul balls. Omg, no one has ever broken it down like this before. Stoping the rotation too early is a swing killer! It's a flaw that creeps into my swing for sure and is likely the reason I don't hit with power consistently. Got to keep the focus on completing the core rotation through the ball. That's how you hit with power. What a gem of a video! I'm going to share this with all of my teammates who struggle at the plate! Thanks for posting! This is worth smashing the like and subscribe buttons!
Isn't there more to it in the example with the barrel below the green line? Isn't his hands supposed to be above the barrel and then he drops the barrel on a lower pitch?. Or is it more that he is dropping his barrel on a pitch that isn't necessarily a low pitch?
Also, he seems more "knobby" on the pitch so that his knob is travelling too far and not allowing his barrel to get to the ball and drive it up the middle or pull.
Thanks for commenting. In this case the barrel is quickly falling below the plane of the pitch causing a down & across attack angle. This is happening because the batter has reached his hands out too far away from his body (casting) before rotating, therefore he pulls his hands in toward his body to have a chance at making contact.
