Not only that, but on Mystic Knight, I loved how enchantments and neutral spells worked together. Elemental augments + Magic Cannon was the coolest thing as I smacc a white orb and send balls of fire/ice/electricity or dark/divine energy towards a big-ass monster. Just... so damn cool.

The people playing weren't Capcom employees. One of them is just a TH-camr - I assume the other 2 were as well. I think they probably only just got their hands on the game that day. I can't imagine they could showcase the game *that* good off of just touching the game. @@junglesona5151
You can tell the girl has barely played the first game, if even that. Confusing shock for sleep, not recognizing the rift stone icon, not using a jumping attack against airborne enemies but using it against goblins, saying she doesn't know what the greenwarish she picked up does (it's a common healing item that you see constantly in the first game so not knowing what it does is very telling), and needing to be convinced to check out the only immediately interesting thing in the area instead of running from it. Then the last person forgetting to use the shield at all until after killing the cyclops and constantly trying to climb it as a fighter which doesn't have much reason to be climbing a cyclops. Frustrating to watch. Kinda reminds me of IGN gameplay.
Yeah... no. Nobody with 2 braincells thinks that, and 90% of the people buying games don't watch these shows. Aren't sweaty mega gamers who care for this, the ones who don't preorder games anyway and ALWAYS wait for reviews anyway? Sooooooo.... who cares exactly? The chat was a fucking cesspool of basement dwelling neckbeards and I see some of the trend is going on here.
Agreed. I couldn’t get over how impressive it was seeing the giant doing his own thing destroying stuff while your trying to take him down the whole time. Every other game ever made would just have him walking along never touching a thing so u can interact with him.
im getting Lao Shan vibes really, it looks heavily scripted, its less of an interaction, and more of a scripted event that occurs no matter what. i doubt we are at the point where giant enemies like this can dynamically adjust tactics depending on the situation the players force them in.
@@Laoruperteen18 In Sega's Phantasy Star Online 2, there was a raid boss that was basically Talos. The giant breaking through gates and bridges was their "checkpoint" and the goal of the player was to slow it down and do as much damage to it as possible before it reaches the end. This is probably that.
yea it was sick looking, but id imagine that particular fight is along a pre-determined route with a fail condition being if it reaches its destination and destroys it. so all the destructible stuff is probably intentionally programmed there.
DD1 is one of those game that start slow, really gripping combat and free world but seemingly not much to do, and as soon as you reach the capital, explore the vocation system and get better skills, it becomes a playground that only gets bigger and bigger until one of THE BEST post-game in all action adventure. People forget that the whole world and all the mobs in the game changed in stats and appearance after a point in the story. I have trust in Capcom for this sequel.
True dd1 starts a little sluggish and the story is almost non-existent but man is the combat, enemy design, and exploration awesome. I do hope the pawns have more personality this time and maybe a little better story, but I know I'll enjoy it regardless because of the RPG elements.
Completely agreed. The post-game in DD1 absolutely blew me away. You think the game is done, then the entire WORLD changes. Brand new enemies all over the map and in the final dungeon (full of completely optional content), Drakes littering the map that you could run into without warning, etc. It was fantastic.
@@Wannabe_Baby The "dungeon" (cough BBI cough) is where veteran players hang around. Once one starts to use weapons and gear from that place, the mainland becomes all too easy.
If this follows what the original did, there will be your starting classes, their upgrade class (fighter - warrior, mage - wizard, etc), and then hybrid classes. Magic Archer was particularly fun

You never really forget the feeling, the first time you wander around at night, with no light source, and something is hunting you. You quickly learn that you should make proper preparations when you intend to explore a region for a prolonged period of time. The thing I personally will never forget was being drop kicked by an enraged Ogre in the mines. That was both surprising, terrifying and awesome.
FR I'll have to choose. All those games and all of them are expensive, but well worth the money. I'm leaning towards P3R, DD2 and Unicorn Overlord personally.
Dragons dogma pawns are legit almost as fun as playing with mates. its like if your mates stopped messing around and played properly with some weird quirkiness from time to time

thats because the japanese (especially capcom and fromsoft) love foreign culture and bygone eras, which for them, is european folklore and medieval britain, didnt it ever register where they get all their inspirations?
Very true, lot of games these days feel very flashy. All kinds of particle effects flying around, wind constantly blowing, making the grass go crazy like there's a tornado or some shit. Meanwhile here, you are the one casting the tornado.
It could've been more vibrant, look at Horizon the game looks very realistic yet beautiful. Even real life is not that dull. I'll have to increase the saturation and contrast once I get the game.
@@alenezi989a3 Yeah, some people won't like that, but it's the tone of the game. Not everything is going to be super colorful and vibrant. What matters more is art style and tone, over things always being colorful.
@BigFry9591 yeah here's the thing, Elden Ring didn't have amazing graphics but the artstyle was amazing, DD2 it seems like the graphics are not that great and the artstyle seems to be intentionally dull and gray even the trees and grass look very washed out. The gameplay looks amazing mind you but visually the game is very lacking.
Yeah I was surprised the Archer wasn't using any skills when fighting that colossus. But in the first game all the Archer classes were badass and I assume it will be the same in the one desire not having daggers.
@Dribin I think they wanted to show talos throwing the spear into the bridge. My assumption is if they did too much damage it would stop the animation.
Yeah the main showcase is talos destroying the keep and everyone in them, up to the gamer to resolve that part and save everyone Its speculated that saving that keep rewards you with a vendor
Hideaki Itsuno. Good to see he's still working at Capcom. After this game, it'd be cool if Rival Schools 3 was his next project. One can dream, though I'm trying to stay realistic here. I mean, what are the chances/odds of that happening?
@@upon-fe2720 Like I said, I'm trying to stay realistic here, so no high hopes. At least there'll always be the Street Fighter games and the crossover (vs. series) games.
I've been waiting 12 years for this game. I can't WAIT for next year. DDDA was a hidden gem and it was so simple in playstyle but so unique at the same time. I can't wait.
Haha that Archer was firing arrows into that thing's back and not doing anything then the monster just destroyed a huge chunk of infrastructure with a spear while the Archer just stood there and went "Well, shit"
Dragons dogma for me was slow at first , as I engage in it more things started to get interesting and i think the same is going to be for this game. Start is slow then things start picking up a bit. Just like in a story book story needs time to build up before all the stuff starts getting crazy.
I honestly think it'll be opposite with this game, im not trying to be a downer I was just thinking about this. I feel like it'll start fast and slow down in the second half, obviously I'm not a dev though I just have this gut feeling. I'll love it regardless though, so glad we're getting a second game.
I love the colour palette here. Ik people are accustomed to lots of colour saturation in modern games. FF16 and horizon zero dawn come to mind, people find those games beautiful. For me, that AAA art direction is very unpleasant. I always prefer something softer on the eyes like death stranding so i'm really glad DD2 hasn't gone the route that most AAA games do.
People are amazed by the physic when the orc fell near trees, but here 53:27 the stumbling animation on our character when getting hit near ledge is amazing as well. You can tell they put a lot of efforts into making this game.
I definitely understand the "only okay" mentality, even as someone who beat DD1 og, and NG+ 8 in Dark Arisen. It's almost like an old-school Fantasy film. The magick isn't as flashy as you might expect, it's grey as hell, and even some combat stuff is meh to watch. I think it's all done this way to make it feel like it's really you, in real (Medieval) life, in real-time on a Fantasy adventure, and tbh it's wonderful.
Pretty cool Talos was in Jason and the Argonauts. Giant bronze statue dude who they opened up his heel and it gushed blood....so good to see. Seems like lots of Greek mythology here Medusa n crazy shit I like it.
LOL!!! seeing Max's face @48:38 when he saw the food killed me. I laughed way harder than I should have.. but damn I was right there with you man. That made me hungry and also helped me decide what we would have for dinner. As for the game iself... Im still torn as its hard to see how much more it differs from the first game outside of visuals. We will see. Thanks for sharing the reaction Max.
I'm actually glad to hear it's a "parallel universe" kind of thing, but I'm definitely gonna try and play through DD1 regardless. I kept getting distracted and never finished it even though I got pretty far. 34:45 Frankly I think DD1 was the same - it didn't look like a game that "demo"'s very well either. What I think they should've done with this showcase is have their demo in segments. One part is traveling the world a little bit to show off the scenery. Then comes the fighting of smaller enemies, then the larger enemies, mechanics, etc. Like they clearly tried to do it that way by purely running around, but since this is a giant open world game, there were alot of moments of downtime which isn't the best thing for a showcase. That said, the final cyclops battle was awesome and exactly what I wanted to see (other than maybe an updated showcase of every class).
I started playing DD1 recently and it is really surpassing my expectations so far, especially for an older title. It really has aged like a fine wine. Does a lot of things you don't see games do very often
The original was the best unfinished game. Their were a lot of reasons for it but the devs never got to take the game as far as they wanted. You’ll notice some story beats just drop off but they get the broad strokes in. The Arisen are semi-immortal heroes chosen by dragons, their hearts are stolen by the dragons in ritualistic slaughter, Pawns are artificial humans forged from the realm between realms called The Rift, as they adventure The Pawns slowly learn what it means to be human and more importantly The Dragons serve a greater power and it’s the reason they select a hero to kill them.
Why is it only okay? That part with the troll hitting the tree like that wowed you surely, I felt the same way, I think. If it makes you want to play it, something was compelling about it. Damn, I’m hyped.
Well the first game was actually from ps3 and 360 days. Seems they dont upgrade it that much lightning and texture wise, but give the creatures better design and fidelity
I'll be doing a female Beastren Arisan not only cause it'll be cool but also for the story implications IE what happens if a female Beastren becomes the very thing she was taught to fear and work alongside another being she was taught to fear. As for Vocation I was thinking about doing Archer again or the Mystikal Archer(I did Archer when I created the Dragon's Dogma version of Claire Redfield), or doing the new Mystikal Spearmen Vocation so I can do that 3-way combo of melee options, ranged offensive spells, and healing spells.
Their general decision making when demoing this game was not very well thought out at times. Like "Oh, we're going to switch to the thief now where the first 15 minutes are nothing but harpies."
I really wish companies would stop this trend of showing people who are absolutely terrible at play video games, advertising their game. Makes a game seem not as good as it is because you falsely get this impression of "that's how the game works" then you pick it up yourself and realize "oh that person was just a massive idiot". Surely there are testers who've played the game for the past 1000 hours who could could hop in their and show the playerbase what they can look forward to in terms of skill expression and what's possible in the game. Having someone purposely ignore a fight going on to be "cute" is not entertaining nor is it good publicity for the game.
Neckbeards are the only ones caring for this, I thought you sweaty uber gamers don't pre order anyway and wait until reviews and gameplay is out after release? But somehow now it matters how a random showcase of random people randomly in the early game looks? Funny.

The comment that op posted was done so in hopes of defending the potential of the game to otherwise casual players that look at gameplay and can't imagine it being cooler if they don't see it being that way(most mediocre players have this problem) so what the flip is actually the problem if he defends the game and not the 4 randoms that took responsability of taking the hate the moment they stepped into that room? they suck, end of, and the center of the comment is that advertising like this shouldn't be done all that much, there was like 30 minutes of gameplay in which they ran around doing absolutely nothing... they could've instead had 30 minutes of gameplay in which they'd at least show the depth of something, anything at all.

Spoilers for the end of DD1, something that stuck with me: I’m so used to dragons just being big monsters in games, maybe they talk sometimes. But something Grigori does in the final boss fight that really sold him for me was so simple. He starts casting spells. Between swipes and fire breath, he holds up his hands and fucking casts spells at you. It’s so god damn cool.
Dark Souls came out in September 2011 and Skyrim came out in November 2011. Dragon’s Dogma came out in May 2012. I had played the fuck out of Dark Souls and Skyrim by that time, and Dragon’s Dogma still became one of my favorite games of all time for the gameplay alone. I also happened to think the game looked incredible at the time, and especially after the HD texture pack download. I don’t know, maybe it was the focus on realism, the ability to actually see all the different armor and clothing you could wear. Everything was so fluid and so cool looking and the monsters were huge and you could climb on them. It was just an incredible game. I think Dragon’s Dogma 2 could potentially be better, gameplay wise, than Elden Ring. Just gotta wait and see how it feels to play.
I hope they allow Pawns to level scale in this game, even if it is only for Pawns that belong to your friends list or something of the sort. In the first game I made two extra save files just so I could have my ideal party travel with me, and let me tell you, it was a pain to have to stop and replay sections TWICE just to get my dream team on the same level and continue the journey on my main save.

25:15 I don't know if the anime is good or not, but it genuinely sucks seeing Max's dismissal of anything that's anime-like. Especially when so many of his interests are already influenced by anime.
Max himself probably doesn’t have much of an opinion on anime as a whole, you should more so think of it as max projecting how he thinks he’s supposed to think about anime. You’d be surprised how many grown ass men are scarred to actually try something because they worry about how their supposed to feel about it, rather than just experiencing it for themselves and forming their own opinion. In Max’s case, I think at one point he talked about ‘outgrowing’ anime, meaning he probably believes that as an adult and the societal norms others view him through, he’s ‘supposed’ to treat anime as something entirely childish. I mean, sorry to get political, but based on his response to covid-19 and his reactions to certain people in chat, thinking for himself has never been his strong suit.
Man, Capcom is really struggling to market this game. Even if the game doesn't demo well, even if the game doesn't sell on trailers, they could not have done a much worse job of marketing it. Barely any official uncut gameplay and they just aren't making the game look cool.
I think this might be another Elden ring type situation where people vastly overestimate the amount of money and resources that is getting funnelled into this game. Dragons dogma got cut in half, then cut in half again, Japanese companies are pretty cut throat with their funding, I imagine they’ll apply that same mentality with DD2. "some people may not have played the original Dragon's Dogma..." Fuck 'em. The only people getting into 2 are fans of the first...and streamers jumping on the latest popular thing. And the "dual wielding" is called "Spell Synch": every spell has a startup (invocation) time. I've been looking forward to this game for a LONG time. I loved DD:DA. I will admit, though, that due to the pacing of the game, it isn't a super fun spectator experience until you encounter some of the bigger monsters in the game. I think the only thing I'm not looking forward to in DD2 is the leveling system. If it's anything like DD1, then the Vocations that you choose to level on are going to be EXTREMELY relevant to min/maxxing for endgame damage. I'm not looking forward to having to level as a warrior for 10 levels, a mage for 100 levels, and Assassin for the rest just so I can deal optimized damage to whatever postgame challenge they throw at us like the Ur Dragon in the first game. Speaking of which, the crystal in the chest of the fake Arisen in the trailer reminds me of the weakspots on the Ur Dragon...
Let us save our vocations set loadouts, dammit! Tired of having to remember which rings and clothing I need to equip to boost specific abilities whenever I switch back to old vocations.

I'm sure with time, they could pull off some impressive moves, but for the first look of gameplay, you want to show a strong hand first.
To be fair tho Dragon's Dogma is one of those games that feel a lot better to play than it looks, no matter who plays it.
The giant enemy physically interacting with the environment is one of the most impressive things I’ve seen. Jeez
This is probably that.

No
True dd1 starts a little sluggish and the story is almost non-existent but man is the combat, enemy design, and exploration awesome. I do hope the pawns have more personality this time and maybe a little better story, but I know I'll enjoy it regardless because of the RPG elements.
I feel like DD had a lot of potential and a lot of great aspects but the gameplay never quite fulfills it.

I like the art style. It makes it seem more grounded, like your just in the Middle Ages (plus fantasy) instead of an anime.
thats because the japanese (especially capcom and fromsoft) love foreign culture and bygone eras, which for them, is european folklore and medieval britain, didnt it ever register where they get all their inspirations?
Very true, lot of games these days feel very flashy. All kinds of particle effects flying around, wind constantly blowing, making the grass go crazy like there's a tornado or some shit.

They could of showcased the archer better, in dd1 they had tons of cool arrow shots
Yeah I was surprised the Archer wasn't using any skills when fighting that colossus. But in the first game all the Archer classes were badass and I assume it will be the same in the one desire not having daggers.
Not to mention the point of the archer is to charge shot like a freaking sniper
@Dribin I think they wanted to show talos throwing the spear into the bridge. My assumption is if they did too much damage it would stop the animation.
yeah they could of done that but I think they save that for the players to discover on their on how the archers plays and I really like that

I think Grigori is back simply for the fact we the player are back. As long as we the player return to the world Grigori will always come back to
SPOILER, if you understand the implication;
You'd be correct, considering what dragons--including Grigori--are.
Dragons dogma for me was slow at first , as I engage in it more things started to get interesting and i think the same is going to be for this game. Start is slow then things start picking up a bit. Just like in a story book story needs time to build up before all the stuff starts getting crazy.
For real, and to me It's just like a battle network
When I first listened to Portuguese I almost cried . Brasil loves u Max

The game looks badass but I hate how they just don’t show more gameplay without commentary.
It's called a presentation, learn about what it is.
@@aznthyWas a pretty weak presentation.
for some reason Im getting Fable vibes(from the 360 days) looking at this game. I think its the movement of the characters that give me that feeling
THE WIND IS PUSHING ME
Its a crime they removed that song from Dark Arisen.
Their general decision making when demoing this game was not very well thought out at times. Like "Oh, we're going to switch to the thief now where the first 15 minutes are nothing but harpies."
Im impressed that Talos is in the game from ancient greek mythology and Jason and the Argonauts
I hope another beserk collab comes
Can see someone modding in the sets from DDO like they did with Dark Arisan.
Funny.

@@gehtdichnichtsan2418 That's not really indicative of being objective if at all of the comment that the guy put out, no matter what you say, he has a point, you need someone that's actually good at the game to showcase the gameplay aspects if you really WANT to show off gameplay, it would've at least been better if there was some visible progress and trying to get the hang of the game, sadly that just didn't happen and it made the game look worse for it.
And personally, I really have no idea who hurt you or why you're so pressed over a guy stating what the obvious should have been, and if anything the people that made the 4 people that tested the game test it in the first place probably did so knowing they sucked so they showed less of a game, but the op's point is that people would rather see the potential of the game being played as close to it's max as possible, so they have an image of how it should play.
I don't know if you've realized this also but there's a ton more comments saying the exact same things, are all of them the same sweaty neckbeards that came out of hiding because now is all of a sudden the time? this channel as a whole is known for it's competitive and gameplay driven community, if you didn't expect the people to not trash the game but the people that are playing it then I am sorry to say but you've probably got a lot of your priorities twisted... The comment that op posted was done so in hopes of defending the potential of the game to otherwise casual players that look at gameplay and can't imagine it being cooler if they don't see it being that way(most mediocre players have this problem) so what the flip is actually the problem if he defends the game and not the 4 randoms that took responsability of taking the hate the moment they stepped into that room? they suck, end of, and the center of the comment is that advertising like this shouldn't be done all that much, there was like 30 minutes of gameplay in which they ran around doing absolutely nothing... they could've instead had 30 minutes of gameplay in which they'd at least show the depth of something, anything at all.

the anime sucks as much as Max's dismissal of anime, it ignores the lore of DD completely and does its own thing

It’s either become super successful and THEN we will give you money, or continue to struggle with limited resources till the end of time.

I'm gonna be honest if they just took away the excess Grey look and made the colors vivid the game would literally look twice as good. It feels like I forgot to take my sunglasses off or some shit.
Exactly
Dragons dogma is about what you make out of it. The people playing the game are casual and really dont know how to do the crazy stuff which again is what makes dragons dogma dragons dogma.
BRO ASKED IF HE CAN SWIM. The brine never left. Parallel world or not.
The ogre knocking those trees over with his swings would have been awesome. Still, the game looks amazing.
"some people may not have played the original Dragon's Dogma..." Fuck 'em. The only people getting into 2 are fans of the first...and streamers jumping on the latest popular thing.
And the "dual wielding" is called "Spell Synch": every spell has a startup (invocation) time. If 2 or more magic users cast the same spell at the same time, the invocation time is shortened dramatically, allowing you to bust out with BIG spells for serious dps that deletes entire multiple lifebars/dots or even ends boss monsters if you are set up right.
How do you achieve this with a pawn?
"maybe it doesnt like... demo very well?" it doesnt help the player is a first timer and not that great at it it seems.....
If anyone has never played the first game its on sale right now on steam for -84% off until Dec 12.
The official trailers that came out didn't get me too much, but seeing the gameplay in the second part made me pre-order. DD is back baby!
My party of pawns will have to consist of at least an elf healer and beastren tank, for the language barrier mechanic and to be well rounded and tackle any problems ahead. Having a single race pawn harem would only lock someone out of extra content
True I’m have a human elf and a beast
First game was the greatest game I've ever played.
Looks like they're gonna do it again
And YOU DO NEED to play the original because it's a great game, not because it's "connected" to the new game.
Max if you didn't play the DD1 DLC you really should
Dragon's Dogma is the type of game where you can set yourself on fire with MAGIC then grapple on to monsters & people and burn them to death..
I personally think Elden Ring dlc releasing near dd2 won't really hurt dd2 that bad they are very different and personally I'd play dd2 over elden ring dlc any day
Hopefully someone has shown Max that one clip of a Fighter doing a flying DDT into ground stab to a goblin. That did more to excite me for the game than the gamplay at the end of this
I love/hate first quarter 2024. So many good games all releasing about a month apart. Tekken 8, GranBlue, FF7R2, Dragons Dogma 2, and potentially Elden Ring DLC.
But if I had to prioritize my gaming sessions, it's going to be for Dragon's Dogma 2. I love FF7, it's my teenage love but Dragon's Dogma defines my gaming experience. I hope DD2 does the same.
fighting giants in games is always cool af, that being said I still havent gotten around to playing shadow of the colossus
I wish the environment sets on fire and wind can blow it around and stuff. Also I feel like the illumination of the lightning and fire isn't really there. I'd like when it's night that it's pitch black but with certain magic it illuminates the area
"Baldur's Gate 4" hahaha. This game does seem to be a cooler version of a bunch of games that have elements I like but fell short.
I'm so hyped for this!!! For this style of gameplay though, I'm definitely rocking a melee build!
2024 hotting up with this, Black Myth Wukong, Last Ronin, an Elden Ring DLC? damn
Black Myth will be a disgusting flop. Absolute chinaware
Oh! well we'll see what a disgustingly bad opinion that is when it's out i guess@@noidsuper
The colors seem desaturated, the grass looks almost gray instead of green. I don't know the game looks like it has that PS3 look everything is gray or brown.
Capcom really pull themselves up, super hyped for pretty much everything they have lined up
