Just ordered one to replace my Jet jp13 ( which is really a piece of junk, in my opinion. ) Can't wait to get my Grizzly. Have an 8' Grizzle jointer now, and love it. Thanks for doing the review on this...
I can give some basic observations at this point since I haven't had opportunity to fully put it through its paces. I think that I'll do a review of it after a few months of usage. Its feed rate is faster, the surface finish is very, very smooth, it seems maybe a hair quieter. The crank mechanism is reversed from the Dewalt so that is something I'm getting accustomed to and the infeed and outfeed tables are a bit fiddly getting leveled
@@SonsOfThunder229 Since I'm not sponsored by Grizzly, I can speak truthfully...If I could do it all over again, I probably would have stuck with the Dewalt and would do the Shelix upgrade. The Grizzly infeed and outfeed tables are an absolute bear to align. That being said, I would not go back to the Dewalt at this point. My goal is to move up to 3 or 5hp planer
@@JohnsTinyWoodshop if i could bring one in my basement (probably could) i would. But i already have a huge band saw and just bought a 8" jointer, so to make things easier on my wife i think a 13" planer is ok haha. I just want to make the best purchase for that size.
Expected a planer review not a cart build.

How does it compare to your Dewalt planer?

@@JohnsTinyWoodshop Would you recommend the Grizzly over the Dewalt? First time buyer
Your title is very misleading, i thought this was a review/comparison.
Is that hand crank plastic?
It's steel with a rubberized cover on the knob
@@JohnsTinyWoodshop so do you like it so far? Im about to buy a planer, its either this one or the dw735 with shelix head. What would you suggest?
