Nice tour. At our woodworking school they have spacers that allow for precise miter cuts closer to the blade. 5, 10, 12 inches etc.

How has it held up after 2 years?

Dust collection seems like a critical part of shops. Me...I'm as lazy as the day is long. Don't have dust collectors. My wood chips are like a Woodstock concert where they are all free to gallivant. tHanks for the video. Have a super New Year, wishing you all the best for 2024 and beyond!

You could try putting the output of your mini collector to the suction side of your larger collector and use the cyclone and filter media on it. Use it as a booster for the stationary unit and It would clear some of the clutter on the floor around the saw.

If you can, you should just vent the dust outside of your shop and you'd be able to do away with the cyclones and dust bags.

Most dust collectors rarely achieve the stated cfm. Normally they’re tested without any filter on the “back” or exhaust side of the collector. As you said though your biggest cfm loss is at the collector with the flex hose. But dust/chip separators also decrease cfm. I’m in the same boat and have considered the same solution you came to. Nice video, dust collection can be a pain!

Immediately necking your trunk line down to 4" is also killing your airflow. Maybe a 6" trunk with 4" drops would work better.

I bought the same thing on black Friday and I love it. I read all the stuff about it clogging up using a plainer but I only have it on my table and miter saw and it works great!

I use a core box router bit to make finger grips on the end of my boards so they can be used as a 2 sided board. Same bit can be used to make a juice groove on 1 side of the board.

My shed is a similar size. I insulated the lot and put up plywood on all surfaces, which helps a lot as you can mount stuff directly to the wall for storage.

Jeez I thought my shop was small 3 metres by two metres , that's about six and a half foot by about nine foot ! But then mine is an electronic work space. Good luck with your new shop 👍👍

I just found your channel since I recently got into woodworking-I must say you made a very beautiful cutting board. Congratulations on your work. However, I noticed you used mineral spirits on the board. Isn’t mineral spirits toxic? I barely saw the label on the container, though.

My 13 inch rigid planer has quite the blower and I don’t need a dust collector for it all I need was a hose and ran it to my 32 gal extra garbage can with wheels on it with a lid that I did put a 3 inch vent on top and it works perfectly with no backups. But all my other tools go through a dust collector

Thanks for the video. Couple of questions. When pressing the bearings on is there a stop that they meet up to or is there a gap that you had to measure between the bearing and the head? Did you need to adjust the outfeed table? I saw you doing something with it.

Just ordered one to replace my Jet jp13 ( which is really a piece of junk, in my opinion. ) Can't wait to get my Grizzly. Have an 8' Grizzle jointer now, and love it. Thanks for doing the review on this...

So it’s called John’s Not-So-Tiny Woodshop now😁? Excellent video, I’m moving from a 14’ x 16’ shop to a 7.5’ x 12’ shop soon, not sure how to fit a 2’ x 7’ Roubo, 12” Hammer planer/jointer, and 14” bandsaw into there, glad I sold the Jet contractors saw 3 years ago! And I haven’t missed it.

What were your finished dimensions?
