  • Actress Samantha has revealed that she has been diagnosed with autoimmune myositis. I am using her popularity to create awareness of how intermittent fasting can help/prevent autoimmune diseases. The simple method good prevents long-term chronic diseases including cancer so that we can create a better healthier community.

    My experience of fasting:
There are three stages of fasting which I progressed from one stage to the other:
    1. The 12 hrs fasting which Dr Pal advocates. This is the first stage which is the starting point. This is the easiest. Each and everyone should adopt their own ways. Main enemy for this 12 hr fasting is our coffee/tea addiction. Trust me, if you overcome this addiction at the start of the day you can easily adopt to this. Even if you eat at 8pm and wake up at 6AM, many of us will not have breakfast at least till 8 30 except coffee/tea. So, eliminate this morning coffee/tea and you will win. Unless of course you are binge eater in the night and then you need to change a lot obviously.
    2. The second stage is 14 to 16 hrs fasting. I found it difficult and I gradually progressed from 13 hrs to 15 hrs. Still unable to go for 16 hrs because it makes me eat entire calories in 8 hrs and it makes me to eat without being hungry at times. But still your body will adapt.
    3. Avoid any form of sugar for 60 days while still fasting 14 to 16 hrs. This is your nirvana. Once you attain this, there is no going back. Most lifestyle diseases you acquired over the course of years will slowly go away. After 60 days, you will never have sugar craving. You may still tend to cheat by taking sweets but you will not crave for sugar because you no longer have that mental hunger. I failed in the third stage after 20 days but i will challenge myself again.
Dr Pal is doing yoeman service by educating the world about fasting. Thank you sir

No more sugar craving at all. Lost 24Kgs in 8months (first 10kgs was lost in less than 3 months). You have put out the right info...Thanks!

When I started IF (time restricted eating) primary objective was to reduce weight which I did successfully. Reduced my weight by 24Kgs by doing 17-19 hour fasting & 5-7 hr eating window. But being a victim of autoimmune skin disorder (Psoriasis) for close to 5 decades, a surprising positive side effect of this fasting has been the excellent control over my psoriatic flare-ups. It has been a great relief to me and I feel much more liberated now. Many of my other smaller discomforts or conditions too have reversed. Good video Dr. and please continue your good work of motivating people and creating awareness 🙏. God bless you!

    Hi Dr. Pal,
I have been active playing tennis and badminton for 3 to 6 days a week (each game 1.5 - 2 hrs) since Covid started (about 2.5 yrs) but had a stubborn belly that did not go down.
After watching your videos I started intermittent fasting for 12hrs (because of my work/schedule I follow 12:am to 12:00 PM) and modifying my diet with added fruits and veggies and completely away from food drinks with sugar (only pepsi-Zero now and then).
It has been abot 3-4 months since I started and I was able to loose about 30lbs and my waist size "shrunk" from 38 to 34.

@@rcb77211 I'm not a medical professional to advise, but here's what I do. Water is a must. But I don't drink amounts that I'm not comfortable with. I drink lemon water + ACV. It also helps to keep my ghrelin(hunger hormone) low. After 1st day, ghrelin usually doesn't spike (at least I don't feel hungry). If I have mild headache/ nausea, I take sugar free electrolytes. Since I workout during fasting, I stop whenever I have muscle twitches (which I believe are early signs of malnutrition).

In my late twenties, a year back I realised my body changes (acne, weight gain, tiredness and fatigue) I have changed my lifestyle. Sleep on time, intermittent fasting 8-12 hours. Initially, it gets difficult atleast for first 15 days but as you progress the body adapts. Have water in between to compensate your hunger feeling and be resilient to say "No" to food during fasting time. Engage yourself in work. Have proper protein rich breakfast to keep you full whole day. 100gm of peanut butter and half banana sandwich with 5 almonds, and lemon water in empty stomach are game changers for me.
Have a strong will power! 😊👍

Thankyou so much doctor for spreading this awareness ❤ I had started with having an early dinner before six and eating breakfast little late to give a good time break. Last two months due to Shravan I had started fasting with a friend of mine, on every Monday(sometimes no water). This has made so much improvement to my gut issues 😢❤❤ I had almost given up the idea of becoming normal and this happened! I’m so grateful that I found something that really works ! 😊

@DrPal, I'm curious about a different approach to our daily routines. Have you ever considered the idea of following the natural rhythm of the day, from sunset to sunrise? Additionally, there's a belief that eating heavy meals after dark might not be the healthiest practice. What are your thoughts on these aspects of our daily life? "why not we follow sun set to sun rise"

Dr Pal, Thanks you for your videos. You have inspired me in so many ways, I have now started intermittently fasting. Before this for some time ( over 5 years) I have been having early dinner by 7. Now my first meal is around 12noon or after and my last meal is before 6pm. I have been having an annoying headache for sometime, lasting from 2-3 hours to 2 days. It is not unbearable, but lingers in me like a hangover. I drink plenty of water. Once I had it very bad and my physician gave me migraine tablets and it worked. But the second time when I had a bad headache it did not work. So I have done all the test brain scan, heart check all ok. So much so my calcium score is 0 ( I'm 62). They fell that I have sleep apnea and going for a sleep study. Talking about sleep, All my life I had never had an issue falling a sleep. I will knock off within 5 minutes of placing my head on my pillow. Thou sometime (now more than before) I wake up at night around 3 am. (that "பேய் " time). I am not a vegetarian, I drink occasionally (party's I have good drink). Don't smoke. My question is 1. is non veg ok in my Diest? 2. having ghee on a daily basis, is it ok? 3. Sesame oil (இத்யம் நல்லேன்னை ) & coconut oils is it ok? I don't have fried food but use it to temper like தலிதம். Your input will be most appreciate. Thanks. By the way I live in Sydney Australia.

I have been following your channel a lot. I started to follow "no food after sunset " only because of you. Prior to that I used to stop eating 2 hours before I go to bed. I started with a 18hrs fasting window 2 years back and then went into a one meal a day a year back. As of now I am on a 2-3 hrs window of eating considering I have to take the micros and the macros properly. I go on a 48 hrs fast once a month and 72 hrs fast once every 3 months. First time when I went to a 72 hours fast I was surprised that at the end of the fast I was more energetic than the beginning of the fast. In fact I was able to do more pull ups at the end then at the beginning. This has been the most transformative think in my life.
People ask me how I am able to manage the nutrition in take for a day. But I find it more convenient because I just have to arrange for the right amount of food with the right amount of vitamin, minerals, protein and fat in a single shot. In fact people who eat three meals a day mess up with their micros and macross much more than people who eat once a day. One side effect that people may have to be mindful if they are going to go into this path is that their metabolism can become a little bit slow. Which is totally fine for me. But you got to take the call. The other side effects are amazing.
Unfortunately people try to take the side of the fast or of exercise/yoga. I would say both are absolutely required and one cannot and must not replace the other.
    Thanks a lot doctor Pal,

This is so informative and relatable.
    I will start intermittent fasting.
Dr. Pal, i usually try to eat healthy. If I don't eat non-vegetarian food example boiled eggs or baked fish/chicken almost everyday i don't feel energetic; even if it is in small quantity it feels better. Is this ok?
