I've been listening to German Lieder for 50 years, and this is one of the most wonderful performances in memory. Sian is a true artist with a fabulous instrument. What a sound!!! And what a beautiful phrasing sense. She "reads" the poetic content beautifully---dare I say, as well as Schwarzkopf, but with a better instrument. I just love her presence and how she maintains a joyful presence in the closing piano phrases.
Of course, Schumann rocks!!! One of my top 5 composers of all time. Thank you so much for posting this jewel of a performance.

I love this! I love how she takes the more Austrian pronunciation of the ch sound in German, how it's softer, and more endearing. Not only that, but not sure if you noticed this...but I hear a bit of a...Welsh accent peaking through? Either way, it's a magnificent performance of one of Schumann's greatest Lieder.
