I teach learn to swim. I have been teaching learn to swim for over 30 years. This video from narration to on land drills and to water drills is WONDERFUL. The style and pace of his voice really shows his ability to get info across in a simple, calming and direct way. His examples of the steps required to get the feel for the water are spot on. I have a new perspective on teaching swimming to beginners. Thank you!

I just followed the instructions and tried it for 2days... now I can swim from one end to other...I myself amazed with such a quick progress...still I need to practice breathing technique ... I hope I can learn this to with the help of this video... thanku so much 😊

I've been teaching in a way many techinique parts of this video but a much faster pace. This video is much better than mine in terms of not getting the student to use bad form in my faster pace from the beginning. I'm definitely adopting some of his technique here, even if I have to slow my pace of teaching down. By far the best I've seen so far... Follow this video if you have time, and master each step before going to the next even if it takes you more time..

Thank you for sharing this video. This is indeed the very basic fundamentals of crawl swimming for beginners and I mean totally don't know swimming at all, watch and learn and drill all the steps and you will be flying on the water. For those who complain about what break water or submerge or what ever, those 'tricks' will come when the beginner has finally know how to swim and trying to improve timing, perfecting styles etc etc... As the title of this video implies "A very instructional video to master..."!!

Best teacher and best method ever. The Alexander technique in swimming changes the relationship with the water and I learnt more in a few hours with him, than in 6 months with the 'classical' method. The video out of the context does not do him any justice. It is hepful if you are learning with the brilliant Shaw method.😀

I have checked so many swimming videos on TH-cam and
this is the BEST. Very simple, yet very detailed, very well explained and very well illustrated. I learned more from this than from the actual swimming lesson that I took. I am 61 and just now started to swim for a good full body workout THANK YOU so much for creating this video! If you can, please create more for the other swimming styles and also one for treading. thanks again :).

This is a great video. It presents a method of swimming which is comfortable in the water, aimed at maintaining relaxation. This method is very different from most of the videos I've seen on TH-cam, and the method in my opinion is one which most people would find better for swimming for enjoyment.
The Shaw approach is familiar to my own technique that I've developed independently, because I'm 67, and doing competitive strokes is not for me - but I enjoy swimming laps. I try to get in at least 2000 meters per session, 3 to 5 times a week. A stroke which goes for speed rather than endurance is counter to my goals. Having brief moments every stroke where I can completely relax (except for the kick) very much improves endurance.

Great teacher.. that is how you teach relaxed and to the point and make the subject matter look so easy and relaxing.. . I am looking forward to apply these techniques. Best learning Freestyle Video on the net. As a matter of fact it is soothing and relaxing watching and imagining that you are the one swimming. I hope that I can swim and relax as such, instead of running out of breath after 20ft. Once again thank you..
