My alarm is in one of those side pockets now, might change it to your spot though :)

Did you have any issues with the bike on the TAT or various BDRs you did?

Zero issues on the tat. No problem on the 7 colorado passes that i did. Suspension setup worked great. No issues going through the desserts at high temperature. Zero issues with fuel pump, i don’t run the tank dry, which i believe is the main cause of these pumps going bad. Overall, couldn’t be happier with the bike, i can’t imagine having done it with a smaller bike as far as the highway miles and the torque for climbing without a run up etc.
having said all that, i had planned to do a few BDRs on my way back but had to come home to take care of a few things that had come up in my absence. So i jumped on the highway on my way back and didn’t pay attention to chain slack. Running 90mph on highway constantly for couple thousand miles and not checking chain tension finally got me. 500 miles from home i had a chain slap that Bent the chain guard by the front sprocket pushing it under the shifter arm. It broke two of the bolts. So i took off the guard and corrected the chain slack. Doing that i knew the chain was done for (15000 miles) as i had run out of room pulling the wheel back.
I got home and next day when i was cleaning the bike i noticed it had not only busted the sprocket cover but also had cracked the engine casing directly in front of the sprocket. Wasn’t a through crack though. No oil was coming out. So i jb welded it and decided to trade it in for a 2023 model. I took a beating on the trade as i told the dealer about the crack. I am so anal about maintenance, which makes me mad that i totally forgot to check chain tension on the way back on the highway. I put it to being tied and just needing to get back home quick.
On this new bike I’m not changing the sprocket cover from oem to the cnc type cover that i had on the previous bike. In fact ktm told me that they do not recommend those covers precisely for that reason.

Dang dude, you are lucky. A snapped chain at 90mph could have been much worse. I think chain tension is a frequently overlooked item for some reason. Well, I guess it’s a testament to you love for the KTM that you got another. Glad you had a good trip up until that point.

@@Argo-F-Ur-Sef thx but chain didn’t snap, it jumped the sprocket and slapped the engine casing. Either way, i was lucky😁
