    I know a lot of people don't like John Collins but I don't think his fit is that bad with this team. Mostly they just need an actual pure PG. They have a bunch of good guards but they need a floor general

      They are maximizing what they can control. Get the most they can out of trade assets and don’t trade an asset just so you can tank. Build a winning culture and improve the value of assets when you can. While keeping your books clean and flexible.

      @AVC_Streams what I like about I him is that he doesn't fall in the same category as most players that you see now particularly physically. He's got the skill to be valuable but what I hear is that it's his weight that is an issue which I can understand. Nevertheless, I do believe that the league is going through a transition. The last several years teams are looking for guys that are all rounders that can do a bit of everything. But what is being uncovered every year is that those players are few and far between. Guys like Lofton Jr remind me of guys in the early 2000s that were good players in their own right but couldn't do everything. They were specialist players. I think Lofton Jr is able to provide real value in the paint, drawing fouls whilst also having a decent mid range. 3pt range not great but as we know not everyone should be shooting 3pt

    • @_AVC_
      @_AVC_  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@simeonbrown9926 I can dig that for sure! Yeah I don’t wanna say the dude is garbage at basketball or anything because he definitely has some skill. Comparing him to a 2000s era player is a great way to say it!
      So the reason I and other NBA guys won’t put him on the court is because he kinda has to play center and he can’t guard anyone. Offensively he can do some stuff in the paint but if you put some real height/weight out there it neutralizes him pretty quick. Hopefully he keeps finding ways to improve cuz I’ll totally root for him to find something!

    Honestly, I love this take. I often come across the Facebook Jazz Communities, and the hate for Danny Ainge (They all ignore the fact that JZ is technically the General Manager) and the attempt to build a new roster under the new regime are unbearable. There are a lot of people who are still crying over the spilt milk. Unfortunately, they don't seem to realise that you can't put the milk back in the bottle once it's gone, and Donovan and Rudy are most definitely gone. 😂
    It's disheartening to see fans who cry over the spilt milk also advocate against trading. This market doesn't generally attract players in free agency, let alone All-Stars. The irony is that they believe building through the draft and relying on development will magically turn us into an instant playoff team and that elusive championship will just fall into our laps.
    Even if we hit that type of luck, I'm pretty sure it's not going to come into tuition within two or three seasons - Personally, I love this take and as aggressive as Danny wants to be this offseason, I'd be very surprised if he brought back anything other than a pretty tune-up for a potential big move in the following years.

    • @_AVC_
      @_AVC_  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      100%. It’s very hard to bring in free agents there for sure, and building through the draft is smart but also incredibly difficult. I love the Jazz’s culture so I think they have a better shot than most but like you said it’s still incredibly difficult.
      That’s why I felt it so important to make sure this team remained flexible while still trying to be competitive. They’ll need to strike via trade when the opportunity presents itself so you gotta have the firepower.

  • @_AVC_
    @_AVC_  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    What do you want to see from the Jazz this offseason?

    • @austinpoll
      @austinpoll 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As a Jazz Fan I just don't want to be in NBA limbo/hell no more, I can handle developing players during the season if we are losing the right way , meaning we have a direction either we're trying to lose to get better down the road or we try to make the right trades to sustain a real competitive winning team. But this winning half the season and tanking the last half has worn thin on me. I'd rather just tank for the "chance" at getting one maybe two exciting players with bright futures.

    • @_AVC_
      @_AVC_  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@austinpoll As a Bulls fan I totally feel that haha. It doesn’t seem to be the organization’s priority to ever tank though. And honestly that’s probably a good thing.
      I get it’s hard though I really do. Would you be cool dealing Lauri/Sexton/Clarkson etc?

    • @-KFAD-
      @-KFAD- 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I really liked the style of this video but really agreeing with many of the takes. The new team would be barely a playoff team. Our current team would have been a fringe play off team if they wanted but decided to tank after the trade deadline. They were 50/50 team until then. So I'm not sure if this new team is any better than the team we had pre trade deadline.
      .....
      I really like Holland though. He definitely would be a good fit. And I definitely agree that we should be trading Clarkson and Collins. I'd just hope we'd get a bit younger and better player than Andrew Wiggins, even if it means giving out draft picks. Brandon Ingram is someone who has been proposed before. Collins is a good salary dump in that trade. Or another name who has been rumoured to Jazz is Miles Bridges. Noticeably better options and Andrew Wiggins (minus the Bridges controversy which really makes this less optimal).
      Also you didn't really address our guard problem: We have 3 combo guards in George, Sexton and Clarkson. None of them is a good defender. Getting rid of Clarkson is a good start. I'd trade him for a FRP in a heartbeat. He's not bad, but his fit with us is. I'm also not convinced (and neither is Danny Ainge) that George is our future PG. So I'd like us getting a real playmaking point guard with defensive attributes. Castle could be what we need if we manage to get him via draft. Or maybe Dejounte Murray via trade (Hawks might want to break up Trae/Dejounte duo). I would also consider trading Sexton. He is at his peak and his value is high. Although I absolutely love the idea of keeping him around as our 6th man (one of the best in the league for that role).
      For our late first and early second: Bronny James. Use him as a backup PG if he shows promise. Try to lure Lebron to Utah (huge brand value + he is still an amazing player). Trade Bronny to Lakers for assets if Lebron demands that. Either way: a win for the Jazz.
      New starting lineup: Brigdes or Ingram (or James!) / Kessler / Markkanen / Murray or Castle / George.
      Coming off the bench: Sexton, Hendricks, maybe Holland, maybe B.James, Sensa, Dunn.

      I totally hear your points. I think it’s important to keep in mind the goal of the video which was to kinda keep the team where it’s at (as unfortunate as that is). I don’t see a great way to make this team that much better in one offseason so normally I would say aye we gotta tear this down this ain’t working, but Utah hates doing that. So we try to make them a little better while making them more flexible moving forward.
      We definitely didn’t fix every problem but I would rather set them up for a potential perfect fix down the line than to try and duct tape something this year. Thoughts?

    • @-KFAD-
      @-KFAD- 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@_AVC_ Yeah I definitely hear you man. Obviously there's a million different possibility to change the team during the offseason so it's guaranteed that we cannot 100% agree on all the points. I do agree with the main target though: Fix some and set the team up for possible success in 2-3 years without fully bottoming out. Move Collins, Clarkson and draft Holland. All great and logical things to do in my opinion.
      I really like this type of non-scripted GM roleplaying content by the way. Keep it up!

  • @magicofshootingstar5825
    @magicofshootingstar5825 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I listened the first 5 minutes but when you said that you just assume Lauri is going to extend in the Utah and then said that they have plenty of cap space you can play, I kinda tuned out. If Lauri is to extend in Utah, it will eat most of the cap space. That is big part of what Jazz needs to/wants to solve one way or the other in this off season: try to renegotiate and extend Lauri or trade him or do some kind of wink wink deal where they use cap space for some big fish and give Lauri big free agent deal next summer. You cannot really talk about their offseason without starting there.

    • @_AVC_
      @_AVC_  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I guess I’m confused. The presumption made was they will figure out the extension. That doesn’t change anything for this offseason.

    • @magicofshootingstar5825
      @magicofshootingstar5825 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @AVC_Streams
      I'll try to explain: Lauris salary is so small compared to his production that if Jazz give him the biggest extension they can, it will still be clear underpay and there is no way Lauri would take the deal. They can instead from this August forward do what's called renegotiate and extend. That means that they renegotiate his salary for the next year (eg. last year of his contract) and use free cap space to bump his salary up to some amount, for example 37 mil. from the 18 mil. his contract is now. Then they extend him from that amount having probably some kind of raises for years to come as normal. This is only way Jazz can stop him from hitting the free agency if they don't want that (and teams don't usually want that).
      So that's why Lauris contract affects this offseason a lot, because if the do the renegotiation and extension, it will eat a lot of their cap space. For example if they renegotiate to the 37 mil. I used earlier it takes 37-18=19mil out of the cap space they have to sign or trade players into otherwise.
      If I explained confusingly, look what King's did with Sabonis's last contract or Jazz with Clarksons contract last summer (though Clarksons contract was frontloaded and will be smaller going forward).

    • @_AVC_
      @_AVC_  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@magicofshootingstar5825 Yeah I know the contract strategy you’re conveying, and I get the whole you can sign him now for less or wait until next summer and pay him more but I guess I’m still in the same though process I was in the video.
      Regardless this contract will take you into Luxury tax, so it doesn’t really matter when or for how much it is. You’ll still make the same moves you want to make first and then have him sign the extension since you can sign your own players into luxury tax. So I understand what you’re saying about why his situation is complicated but it really shouldn’t matter in terms of the rest of the finances of this offseason. If that doesn’t make sense maybe we both are explaining things poorly haha, feel free to use my link and we can chat it over on discord!

      @AVC_Streams
      I have successfully avoided discord until now, so I won't start now either 😄
      But actually I don't think the amount Jazz pays for Lauri will change (much) non-regardless if they pay him this summer or next but they risk him signing with different team if he ends up free agent.
      I guess the more important point is that if they do the "renegotiation" -part of the renegotiation and extend deal, that can only be done with cap space. That's the rule. You can't do it if there is no capspace left. You can only do normal extension then. That's why they can't just sign Lauri to luxury tax as you said.
      But anyways, it's nice to have respectful conversation in the internet, thanks for that! 😃
