Glad to see a Batman media that touches on the real life psychology of Batman, he’s the most interesting character when it comes to psychology and metal health as all his villains are mostly sick individuals
As they say in the video, it's a common aspect of all Batman media but it's wonderful to see the thought & amount of research that went into not only depicting it but doing so accurately with care & consideration into how it plays into the themes & characters imo. And I agree it's one of the defining aspects that make him & his rouges' gallery easily one of the most interesting in superhero pantheon but I particularly like how it plays into another one of Batman's qualities, his huge empathy for all the downtrodden & struggling in society.
11:20 this is the only part of the story that hasn't sat right with me since the game released, I didn't quite get why Harvey would ditch the Rat King for Two Face, but this explanation makes me like it SO MUCH.
I love Dr. Bender's breakdown of Joker in that Joker is more so evil than mentally ill. He knows what he's doing and knows that it's wrong, but simply enjoys it. That's been implied throughout the series, but I love hearing it directly from an expert. And makes sense too: many of Batman's villains aren't necessarily evil, but then you have people like Joker and Scarecrow who truly are and manipulate the ones with mental illnesses, and in some ways, mock their illnesses or are even the cause or acceleration of their disorders. Really solidifies in my opinion why they are the true villains of the series.
I've always thought that the Arkham Joker in particular is just a sadistic narcissist. He doesn't care about other people and he loves attention, so he'll react in whatever odd or violent way will get people to look at him.

Agreed. I haven't been this immersed and moved by a Batman story since The Batman and even then I think the level of pathos on display here by any of the Batman media I've seen in a long time. This is the type of storytelling I always wanted to see in the Arkham games.
I remember watched this guy's Wired analysis of the Batman villains and it's so cool that got him an actual position to affect some of the media. He has a real understanding of the character histories as well, so it's not only a clinical analysis but from an actual fan.
It's Jan 21st and he said 1.3 is coming out at the end of January. That means it will arrive within 10 days. I am so excited for new Game+. Love the effort put into this game. Also in all the long dialogue scenes like group therapy I never got bored because they were always intriguing and helped add a lot to the story.
I loved Arkham Shadow. The story was truly wonderful and I felt like Batman. From the beginning to the end, I was mesmerized. Thanks you so much Camouflaj, I want to express my gratitude. I am greedy, but i do hop a sequel to Arkham Shadow with The Phantasm as the main villain😄
Love what you guys did. The psychological expansion of the game is very welcome, very much aligns with the whole franchise theme - we had Sharp, Strange, Crane, Quinzel and so on. Also, the group session scene was in a way villans tried to help Batman. Love it. Great, that you colllabed with mr. Bender!
The level of detail & research went making sure each of the main cast is fully textured & their mental disorders depicted authentically goes to why I think Shadow is the the best story in the series. This is the level of depth & psychology that I always want to see in a Batman story and particularly gaming.

I think they showed Bruce picking up a briefcase, not too sure tho. I’m hyped. I’m at about 8:28 and I just realized they changed the clothes Harvey wears. I haven’t played through the full game in a while.
seeing Dr Jonathan Crane and Dr Harleen Quinzel was interesting to me because both of them were psychologists with one of them being abrasive towards the patients and the other who wants to help them....even if one of "Those " patients would lead that person down a dark path of Mad Love.
Tbh, the Arkham Franchise shouldn’t even exclusively belong to any company, anyone can make an Arkham game, but not everyone should, it’s not about the company, it’s about how all these games, no matter whatever company they’re from, tie themselves within the franchise well
I'm glad that Joker only has a minor role in Shadow and that unlike Rocksteady and WB Montreal Camouflaj understand that not every Arkham game has to revolve around him. City should have been his last appearance since he died at the end of it. Origins should have been set before they met not when they met. And Knight retconned Batman curing himself of the Titan disease at the end of City so Rocksteady could do the dumb storyline of Joker's blood turning Bruce and 4 other people into him.

Also also while Joker isn't the main villain of Shadow I would argue this was still technically alot of his doing due to Origins and Blackgate. Tyger wouldn't have gain control of Blackgate if it wasn't Joker causing two riots one of which even ended in hostage situation of Warden Joseph. Joker also killed Loeb which meant Falcone lost his puppet in GCPD which lead his easier arrest with Dent, GCPD, and Batman all gunning for him. Which would be apart of Malone's trial and Harvey's hate for Falcone and the mob and you can also tie back with Maroni crime and Zucco since they would try to seize power and Dick parents were killed.
