Played this one for the first time at the weekend in a 3 player game and really enjoyed it. Some of the iconography looked confusing so I took the easier option of buying cards with either the money, green or rocket VP icons. Just narrowly lost to someone who had played multiple games and bought a card that kept reducing my VP's when they rolled a certain number. Will definitely play this one again
We both did the same thing on our first play, but definitely found that as we get to know the cards and the possible combos things get more and more interesting.
@@AlliesorEnemies that's good to know - I look forward to playing it again and finding those combo's. Loving your Top 100 videos as well - you've already listed some of my favourites 😃
"3 [cards stacked in a red column] is the most you'll see in a game" IDK if that's a consequence of 2 players, or a consequence of house metas, but that's definitely not true for my games of Space Base! This game has a lot more obvious, distinct differences based on player counts than most games I've played. I mean... when you think about any game the player count differences can be imagined, but this game screams "I'm different at X player count" more than most lol.
We just meant the fancy power cards specifically. We definitely load up more cards than that in a red column. But you are right, one of the cool things about this game is people can build however they want to build.
Sorry to be that pedantic guy, but, the game is not over as soon as someone reaches 40 points - and the greatest space commodore isn't named. A player crossing 40pts triggers the end game (but note 40 is NOT the max - you can go past that an go from 38pts to say 44pts). The rest of the players continue the final round (so everyone gets an equal number of turns) - so if it was a close game, it could end that the named greatest space commodore is someone other than whom got 40+pts first. Sorry.... :D
Fantastic Game. Very Fun at two players.... thanks for the review. I need to get this back to the table!

I strongly recommend the Lightspeed Variant in the Rule book, especially at two players. It gets the game to the fun part more quickly.
Thanks for the tip! We will try it.

Good catch. You are absolutely correct!
