Celeste is the single most enjoyable speedrunning game I've ever played. It just feels soooo good to play.
until you play chapter 5 and then it gets frustrating again
Watching these speedrunners, I actually feel like I could beat them in a Celeste race (but only cause they don’t know wavedashing lol)
Right? It's so strange to see top speedrunners going slower than me. And not just because of wavedashing. I've done the beginning of this game faster than these guys... _while blindfolded._
If you've never done an audio-only run, I recommend trying at least the first stage. Just get some headphones and turn off the music so you can hear sound effects better. It's crazy how good the sound design is.

@@stellanovaluna Not really all that hard. Way easier than Chapter 9, at least. It's worth a try, if you ever get bored. Be sure to go through the level a few times normally first though, to refresh your memory.

I haven’t even beat the full game yet. I thought I did but after I found out I didn’t I couldn’t even play Celeste anymore I forgot all the controls and I sucked at it also didn’t want to spend time learning how to play again

I'm surprised to find out that Kosmic and Kirbs haven't completed this game. If you're into difficult platformers and haven't finished every C-side and and 9th chapter, you're depriving yourself of the best platforming experience money can buy.

As awesome as a speed game as Celeste is, you owe it to yourself to play through it casually and read all the cutscenes, including talking to people multiple times. It's a fantastic story, too.
But damn sub 1 min 20 sec 1a speedruns are satisfying to do
also try modding (berry jam dropped a while a back) for a increasingly difficult celeste experience
the skill ceiling is very high. from A-side difficulty scenic mods, to very “reable” hard list maps, there’s a little something for everyone
I don’t know if you would do this again, but if there is another Celeste speedrun video, you could use a mod called celestenet. It’s a mod which basically makes Celeste a multiplayer game, where you can see everyone who is also on celestenet play the same level as you. It would help make the video a lot less choppy and it would be cool to have one screen and compare each runner to each other.

This is game is really good, not only because of its great mechanics, but also because of this story.
Celeste story is a simple one, I connected with it really well and it helped me through certain key moments in my life.
I am currently mid Farewell, after completing all of the C sides. The difficulty in this game is through the roof.
Know that the way is long, but completely worth it.
Please do more! ✨

Wait a minute. There definitely were a few C Side screens that are much harder than the farewell screens in my opinion. Even if I consider the jellyvator skip
I was crazy enough to Challenge Farewell without playing the C-Sides, it was hard
Do check out some mods after you're done with Farewell! I especially recommend Glyph, which is visually stunning and has great gameplay, and the Spring Collab collective mod, which has levels of different difficulties ranging all the way from beginner (think 1A) to grandmaster (think Farewell, but every room requires multiple pixel and/or frame perfect inputs) to everything in between.
Celeste has a great modding community.
These 4 are all just so likeable. Such good content

I always forget how bad you start out in Celsete, I haven't even 100% the game yet and seeing them struggle makes me feel untouchable. (Working on Golden Strawberries and chapter 9, currently on A-side Chapter 3 strawberry)

Celeste is by far my favourite Indie Game, I absolutely love it and the modding Community gives you so many great custom maps after you finished celeste it's insane. I am currently playing Mt. Everest and it's fantastic!

Point Crow seemed so confident that he finally gets to prove himself because he speedruns celeste. When he finds out that lil Kirbs won so much earlier he looks crushed.
Well he doesn't really speedrun it and he said he doesn't plan to, he's just been playing it casually (including some challenge levels) and he's gotten pretty good as a result of that
I have put so much time into celeste, I’ve been going for the 100 but god it’s hard, im like most of the way through chapter 9 and have beat all c-sides, chapter 9 is *rough*

1:32 the fact that PointCrow has 36+ hours in Celeste without knowing any special techniques hurts.
I would love to see an over-all timer for the run while speedrunning for a better following.

feels weird seeing lilkirbs fall behind my times on a platformer, also kinda a nice reminder that speed running is very game specific
It would be sick to you guys try and compete for the best time in a short part of a game, such as Celeste, but for a longer period of time,say a month, with updates every so often on the channel.
That would give enough time to get good at the game, and mabye learn some skips! Would be super entertaining.

Literally just got done trying (and failing) to beat the absolute gauntlet that is the last section of “Farewell”. Then this shows up to remind me of my pain.
The screenshake is painful... I forgot how agressive it was, cause we all play with it turned off

This is perfect timing, I'm going through another Celeste phase now and I might actually make it through Farewell this time! Plus I feel like I'm getting good at the game, the other day I got through 1C with only 40 deaths somehow and a couple weeks ago during a casual any% playthrough I accidentally beat 2A deathless. It's quite the ego booster. Still dunno if I could beat Kirbs though!

HI GUYS HERES HOW UNCAPPED SPEED WORKS IN CELESTE IN A VERY SIMPLIFIED EXPLANATION!
normally, your speed increases dramatically with a dash, and immediately falls off as soon as the dash ends
however when moving downward and diagonally your speed does not get reset after your dash, it instead decays at a normal rate
if you have proper momentum and you can get a bunny hop out of a high speed movement tech, you can dash down diagonal to retain your speed and get a stacking 1.2x multiplier to your overall speed. this is called an ultra!
normal speed tech is to wavedash or hyperdash, usually with extensions. dashing down diagonal into the ground and jumping before your dash ends makes you go nyoom. to be precise, there is a five frame window to retain your dash after a hyper or wavedash
usually out of a hyper or wavedash, if they have the speed, runners go for ultras to skip entire rooms-- theres an additional way to land an ultra, called a delayed ultra, but i dont know if humans do that.
if you dash into a corner and jump just before connecting, even without proper vertical berth to do an ultra, you can get the 1.2x multiplier from the ultra. its very cool

as for the stamina-less/fast climbing kosmic mentioned, theres both wallbounces and wall boosts.
the first is simple, dashing up against a wall and pressing jump multiplies the speed and distance, allowing some obstacles to be skipped entirely (notably used to skip berry rooms in chapter 3 during a screen transition). This becomes an official mechanic is chapter 7 b side
wall boosting is weird and im not good at it, but basically if you jump away from the wall after a sequence of fast wall climbs, the game refunds the stamina, assuming all those wall climbs were meant to be jumping away, which does not consume stamina
for longer distances or walls that arent normally climable, there are neutral climbs, which are just only pressing jump while touching the wall before drifting back in, no grabbing or anything. this costs no stamina, goes farther, but isnt as fast as wall boosting or other tech
wall boosting and neutral climbs are very useful in the final room of chapter one, allowing you to skip the moving blocks and instead climb up the left side of the room. cool!
Also worth noting! ultra momentum carries on diagonal upward dashes, too, but unlike normal ultras, the momentum dies instantly, like a normal dash
also hyper bunny hops exist.
Wait till you see chapter 9, where they force you to use those speed runner movements just to complete normal levels, had an average of less than 100 deaths on every chapter then 3k+ on chapter 9
