    Taking looks and feel out of the equation, I think it's very hard not to recommend the Cobra, especially at a significantly lower price point than the Titleist. But the TSR range look SEXY.

      Just looking at a Cobra LTDx in 2024. You can buy one new for $249. I've seen them as low as $199. With new drivers from the Big Brand around $600, that seems like a huge bargain. The new ones aren't 3 times as good.

    I feel like a group of people you're missing out on with testing is the high swing speed, high handicap players. Usually it's high swing speed and low handicap or low swing speed and high handicap. That being said, if you would someone who is comfortable in front of the camera and fits that group, give me a call lol

    I love when Mike does the testing. Our swing numbers are so similar. His testing of the LTDx early on is what ultimately clinched it for me and I got the LTDx LS. I absolutely love it. It is so long and forgiving for me. When I square it up, it just feels so fast, even though my swing speed is relatively low. The confidence factor definitely helps. I feel like I square it up a lot more often then not.

    I think the most amazing part of this test was that Mikey was hitting almost every shot off the bottom of the clubface. Being a little more toe-biased at impact probably resulted in the draw and that gave him some more distance. He's capable of hitting the ball so much farther. Great job overall!

    It's interesting seeing this because I just finished a driver fitting a few days ago. I'm a 6.6 handicap with an average driver swing speed of 110 mph. For me, Ping G425 Max was by far the most accurate and most forgiving in the fitting, so I'm not at all surprised to see it again ranked number one in accuracy here. I thought the TSR2 looked the best, but it was much more difficult to control, which was disappointing. But to all of us, the Callaway sounded the best--a great, classic sound. Wish the Ping sounded like that! Ultimately, if I'm choosing between having a few more yards of distance or a lot more accuracy, I'm always going to choose accuracy. So I ended up with my first Ping driver, and it's supposed to be here this week. Really excited! I can now see why MyGolfSpy rated it the number one over all driver for both Mid and High swing speeds.

  • @paulaskey1508
    @paulaskey1508 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Interesting. It just goes to show how important a proper fitting is in relation to your own physical capabilities. I’m a “mature” golfer with fairly debilitating arthritis.
    I was able to properly test the Ping G425, Taylormade Stealth, Callaway ST Max and the Mizuno (sorry no titleist). My driver swing speed averaged for the test at 87mph across the board.
    Ping instantly dismissed as it sounded like hitting an empty coke can (plus it only came 4th on distance). Taylormade second on distance but I definitely lacked consistency from arround the face (I’m no professional at a 22 handicap). It came down to a showdown between the Mizuno and the Callaway. Callaway a clear winner for me at my swing speed giving best to all the others by just over 8 yards and by far the tightest dispersion, both left to right and front to back. 40 gram shaft, 1 inch shorter and lofted up to 14degrees. First brand new driver I have bought in over 8 years. 😊

  • @derekhaynie7989
    @derekhaynie7989 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Toed the crap out of the Ping and it was still the most accurate. That’s forgiveness. As a higher handicap player that hits all over the club face that’s what I need more than another 10 yards deeper in the trees.

  • @mikaelouellette6825
    @mikaelouellette6825 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I enjoy seeing these type of test with all the details comparisons with all the drivers from the TXG team. I'm a recreational golfer and don't play in any tournament. So for me price is also a factor to choose a forgiving driver.
    Callaway Rogue ST max: $550
    Cobra LTDx: $500
    Mizuno ST-Z 220: $299
    Ping G425 Max: $400
    Titleist TSR2: $600
    TM stealth: $580
    During my testing in a hitting bay, I got similar results as Mikey but for me, the extra distance/ball speed wasn't worth the extra money so I purchase the Mizuno STZ-220 and I have no regret.

They basically just said “cobra is all around the better performing driver but the stealth looks sounds and feels just a little bit better so it’s the better driver.” I also think price point should be looked at because the ltdx retails for $100 cheaper and was neck and neck with the TSr in distance and ball speed but was a lot more accurate. So a club scoring near the bottom for accuracy wins first place? That seems strange for a ranking of "forgiving" drivers. In fact, rating a club based on looks and sound and feel seems a little silly when they really don't have any effect on where the ball lands.

    I don't understand how the most forgiving driver is the one that has almost the worst dispersion. When I got fitted at Precision Golf, the fitter asked what I wanted. I asked for forgiveness and tighter dispersion, which saw me in the Ping G425 SFT. I've lost 10 to 15 yards, but almost all my drives find the fairway or first cut. In the same fitting, I hit the Sim Max 2, a driver that was raved about as being long and forgiving, but I found it 10 yards longer than the Ping, but some 45 yards right. Only needed 3 hits to know it didn't suit me at all!
    So, how is launch and distance the "forgiving" bit? Surely dispersion is what to look at?

    Glad to see Titleist on top in terms of performance but I would be interested to see a durability test, in the past year I’ve had two TSi models replaced under warranty a TSi2 and a TSi4. Very unimpressed with the build quality and how easy it was to dent the crowns on the TSi’s. Hopefully the TSr’s are more durable.

    I just got fit for a new driver. I got fit back in February for stealth. When I hit it solid it is great. I don’t think the forgiveness was great. I’m a decent ball striker but misses with stealth weren’t good for me.
    I ended up between tsr3 and cobra. The cobra was a lot longer, but I couldn’t keep it consistent. Where the tsr 3 was the consistency king for me.
    Ended up with tsr3 and excited for it to arrive. For a players club, it was very forgiving

  • @How2HateYT
    @How2HateYT ปีที่แล้ว +2

    When I went to dicks a few weeks back I tried the Cobra, the Callaway and the Ping and the Cobra was by far the most consistent. I'm a fairly high swing speed player 115 is about my average 117 is my high end, but I struggle with a slice when I hit the Ping it actually had my longest drive of the day, but it was extremely inconsistent for me (could have been a shaft issue who knows, it wasn't a fitting just a as is testing.) The Callaway was fine, but the Cobra was by far my most accurate driver, I saw a much much better dispersion with it than any other.
    This was really shocking to me as the Ping is the one I WANTED to be the best but I just couldn't get it to work for me.

    Bagging a Stealth 10.5 with project X LZ San Diego Stiff. Head set to standard 10.5 loft. On trackman, I am hitting up 6 degrees launch angle 15-16 degrees. My spin is regularly sub 2000. Typically 1500-1800. I’m guessing I’m hitting up on it and hitting it high on the face.

      Maybe it depends on your club head speed. I've heard others hit it, and it wasn't that bad. I'm not crazy fast or anything, but im in the 116-118 club low 170s ball, and when I took one to the range to demo, it was reliculously loud to me. To the point where I was literally imbarrassed to hit it in front of people. Im sure that could be fixed with some hotmelt in the head or something.

    The word "forgiving" didn't seem to be addressed in this comparative video. Who needs forgiving when the delta between the most and least forgiving is only 6 mph ball speed, accuracy extremes of 25 yards and all the drives were greater than 265 yards? To me the most forgiving club would be the one(s) with the least deviation between some mid-handicappers using the same clubs. And for Pete's sake, what does looks, feel or sound have to do with forgiveness?

    • @clubchampionmedia
      @clubchampionmedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      These are higher MOI drivers therefore designated as “forgiving drivers” looks, sound and feel is part of every fit we do. I don’t think I’ve ever sold a club to someone who said, I hate the look, sound and feel but it performs good so I’ll take it. That just doesn’t happen, therefore it matters in our opinion.

    • @michael2782
      @michael2782 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@clubchampionmedia I understand, it was just fitting in this fine review with the word forgiving. As a mid to high Hcp player what I (and I can only comment on myself) would look for regarding a purchase would just be a view with two outcomes. One exactly as you have it and the other that would address the forgiving (or not) qualities of the club. In particular off center ball strikes, resistance to pulls and slices - those sort of things. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

    • @littlebattletime1302

      LOL. I'm the minority then. Got fitted and purchased solely on performance attributes when looking for a forgiving driver. Sound, looks and feel did not factor. Figured I would learn to like those characteristics after repeatedly seeing my ball high and center fairway.

    Compare clubhead speed between the 2 first drivers. 5mph is a lot of speed to adjust for when it comes to ballspeed and total length. You don’t just swing faster cause you change heads. At least not by 5%
