These are tricks that work on specific use cases ( multiply by 11 or square ending in 5 ). So nice trick, but doesn’t generalise. Learning a ton of tricks to deal with individual cases is not much better than just calculating it the “standard way”
I assume they can be proved by expanding a number in its digit expansion e.g. xyz =100x+10y+z and then doing algebra , expanding brackets, collecting terms etc

      1. use khan academy => complete 2 sections arithmetic and algebra .
      2. then watch "THE MATH SORCER" youtube channel , he got a video named how to learn math from scratch , use those book recommendations and start from pre algebra and move your way up from there .
*If you really suck at math like I do (coz I was also in your place 2 months earlier trying to learn data structures and stuff and realising I am EXTREMLY bad at math)*
      1. pick up your high school books and start from the very scratch and by scratch I mean literally start from addition and subtraction and stuff .
      2. then slowly move upwards and learn more concepts go from high school math to college level math , from arithmetic to discrete algebra and once you follow through this approximately 1 year plan[2 hour per day] you would realise that you have finally learned math .
      * also I donno how good this plan is because I am also in the process of executing it and I am just 2 months in , but considering the fact that I spent months trying and failing at stuff and then creating this plan I believe it is good enough .
best wishes to you dear stranger ✨✨😊😊

Mental arithmetic...I still shudder to think of Friday mornings in Grade 5. I'd walk to school dry retching with terror, because the beastly nun would haul kids at random to stand in front of the class while she fired off questions at them.
Stuff like " A cwt of potatoes cost £5/6/8, so how many lbs do I need to sell to make an 87% profit?"
You wouldn't get more than a minute. Failure to answer meant you were thrashed. So wonder I loathe maths.

True. No wonder world stumbled upon enlightenment after Arabs relayed decimal, zero, number system, pi, Pythagoras, trigonometry, space maths and later rebranded gravitation laws and what not. They’re still haven’t figured out Ramanujan, coz he didn’t provided proofs lol.
State when credit is due. They can’t escape when it’s public knowledge.
However, Indian govt. Is equally to blame today for this blatant rebranding, including turmeric, amla, ghee, triphala, Shilahjit, ashwagandha, “meditation”, yoga and on and on and on
