Out of print in the U.S. and no ebook version offered. *Update* I think the newer version in the U.S. is called Secrets of Mental Math and it is available.
It is copy of Vedic Mathematics which originated from India.
It's called Digestion by Rajiv Malhotra. Author of Snakes in the Ganga.
I love your content!! Could you make a video about the science behind cognitive improvement through physical exercise? 😊😊😊
1:17 yes I can
I had learnt in high school
1:37 NOOOOOICE.
Make video about Google NoteBook LM. I believe it will be the new way of interacting with books (conversational learning )
@3:15 Right I think I know how that works (54x10)+54 = 540 +54 , so the 5 and 4 moved apart and inserted with 5+4. Awesome!
thank you for being such a reliable source of fun and learning!
does it have anything on percentages too or its focused on regular calculations
I bought this book as per your review in the last video! Hopefully i will be able to help my kids with math when the time comes 😅
If their test has the specific pattern of multiply by 11, or square number ending in 5, then may help. Otherwise won’t help.
@@random19911004 Says who? The book contains many tricks. However, I would recommend reading a book on Vedic Mathematics after this to gain a more deeper understanding and more tricks to calculate in your head.
@@random19911004yeah but he just showed these two tricks in the video. I assume that the book contains more general cases and different examples
I mastered the "day of the week" trick years ago. It's been a great conversation starter ever since.
"Wanna see a trick?"
Yea, sure
@@SPIRITEN25559 I can only imagine on what basis you are skeptical, given that you know nothing about me.
These are tricks that work on specific use cases ( multiply by 11 or square ending in 5 ). So nice trick, but doesn’t generalise. Learning a ton of tricks to deal with individual cases is not much better than just calculating it the “standard way”
I assume they can be proved by expanding a number in its digit expansion e.g. xyz =100x+10y+z and then doing algebra , expanding brackets, collecting terms etc
Yeah, the way it was just handwaved and actual usecases were not explained gave me very bad impression.
Hi sir book vs online tutorial which one is best for programming
Quick question about your "Learn Python from Scratch" free class on Udemy: In Course content 1.5 String Methods, you did my_string.count ('a'). It returned 3. There were 4 "a" though. Was that because it only recalled lower case or was it recalling from zero indexing?
Love this!!!
It is Vedic Mathematics with expanded techniques by Arthur Benjamin.
There is nothing called Vedic marsh. They have just collected some modern maths tricks and called it Vedic maths to sound it more exotic.
@@nitin1947 ... The entire country of India disagrees with you

This book appears to be a rehashing of the 1955 book ‘How to Calculate Quickly’ by Henry Stickler. Same techniques.
I just bought this book after I saw it on your last video lol
isn't this a re-upload?
It is all Vedic maths approach developed in India many centuries back.
1965 isn't even a century ago. You need this book asap.
... what if you have dyscalculia?
hello
i'm learning to code but i've been having trouble visualizing code, as in how to structure it to achieve the desired outcome, all i see are numbers then my head gets dizzy then i quit lol please help, thank you!
From experience, don't get stop even if it is difficult. You should draw out the set of steps of your programs, you do it using pseudo code and diagrams. And remember it's what effort that gets you from point A to B. Use every resource out there, even chat got but tell you explain the code. Why does it work. Perseverance and effort is what makes you learn anything. Stay at it don't give up
"I'm looking at you, Mr. Beckett."
Hilarious!
As a computer science major, I want to learn math but I don't want to regret wasting my time. Any advice?
1. use khan academy => complete 2 sections arithmetic and algebra .
2. then watch "THE MATH SORCER" youtube channel , he got a video named how to learn math from scratch , use those book recommendations and start from pre algebra and move your way up from there .
*If you really suck at math like I do (coz I was also in your place 2 months earlier trying to learn data structures and stuff and realising I am EXTREMLY bad at math)*
1. pick up your high school books and start from the very scratch and by scratch I mean literally start from addition and subtraction and stuff .
2. then slowly move upwards and learn more concepts go from high school math to college level math , from arithmetic to discrete algebra and once you follow through this approximately 1 year plan[2 hour per day] you would realise that you have finally learned math .
* also I donno how good this plan is because I am also in the process of executing it and I am just 2 months in , but considering the fact that I spent months trying and failing at stuff and then creating this plan I believe it is good enough .
best wishes to you dear stranger ✨✨😊😊
What I have found is that the things I have to remember for these quick math tricks are a million times more than just normal slow formulas that we learn in our schools. I have very little space in my brain to remember all these tricks so I go slow.
Is it some what same as vedic mathamatics
No such thing s vedic math ... It's newly crafted methods.
Thanks!
I've only just seen this. Thank you very much! 😊
It's insane😮🎉❤
It is most unfortunate that this book is SO outrageously expensive on Amazon.
Any one has pdf of the book? It’s not available in my country :(
Just a suggestion - in case you are not aware. You may try Trachtenberg system of speed maths - one of the most oldest & famous book for speed maths calculations. Maybe, easily available on the net in pdf too! Even Vedic maths books are also stuffed with speed & mental math techniques.
@@chetananam9141 thank you for your information. I'm finding a book that can help me improve my mental math, I want to save time for gmat quant questions.
There are lots and lots of math shortcut books, for exercising your brain. Sorry, I won't bother with this one.
My favorite, and I use these techniques frequently after generating & printing random arithmetic drills, is
Miracle Math by Harry Lorayne
The techniques coordinates Pen & Paper & Brain. It's relaxing and enjoyable, when you become skilled at it.
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll get a copy

I think one of my biggest peeves, almost as much as people conflating feelings with facts, is when people say MATHS.
To TH-camR, please check out what is Vedic Matnematics, this andmany more such tricks are directly copied from there. You Can also make a video on it. video idea.!!!! make a video comparing this book and few vedic techniques.
😮 who knew
sounds like the trachtenberg method.
Book out of print
copy of indian vedic math right !
When did “Math” become “Maths”. No one says, Biologies, Chemistries or Journalisms.
mathematic*s*

When you step off the plane to the land that created your language
"Mathematics" is commonly shortened to "maths" in UK English, "math" in US English. I don't know of any historical or logical reason for the difference; that's just the way people got in the habit of doing it.
Think I will save my money and just use the calculator on my phone like a normal person.
That was pretty funny. 😊
Lmao
Try Vedic mathematics.
Very good indeed
this is all from indian vedic maths
I think, This is just Arithmetics. This is not maths.
Most Arithmetics experts would be zero in maths.
Following are some of the Math Topics :
# Integral Calculus
# Differential equations
# Coordinate geometry
# Permutations and Combinations
# Logarithms
# Abstract Algebra
# Probability
# Set theory and Logic
# Topology
# Category theory
# Matrices and Determinants
# Functions
Arithmetic is one of the branches of mathematics. So are algebra, analysis, combinatorics, geometry, number theory, numerical analysis, probability, set theory, statistics, topology, trigonometry, etc..
Mental arithmetic...I still shudder to think of Friday mornings in Grade 5. I'd walk to school dry retching with terror, because the beastly nun would haul kids at random to stand in front of the class while she fired off questions at them.
Stuff like " A cwt of potatoes cost £5/6/8, so how many lbs do I need to sell to make an 87% profit?"
You wouldn't get more than a minute. Failure to answer meant you were thrashed. So wonder I loathe maths.
This guy is all marketing and no action. He didn't even both to show the book properly
Authur is fantastic

Big agree. While it has worked for him, I wish we could get titles that are more informative and less hyperbolic.
So the issue is not to stop using your calculator.
It's keeping your mind sharp(er) as you grow older.
Or in other words: Use it or loose it.
Doing math on a daily basis (with your mind, not calculator) is one way of doing it.
Do you lose it?
Or do you loose it?
Vedic Maths
Great ... a slightly faster way to calculate numbers times 11 ... which only works for 11. Do you know what always works ? A calculator. I love math but numbers are not math, just as the alphabet is not poetry.
ЗДОРОВО!
Why the hell do we need to do these calculations in our heads??? We have computers. What we need is higher level thinking not lower level calculations.
If you value your time or occasionally leave home without a computer, you might want to.
It's Indian Vedic Mathematics
Clickbait is bad but this has reached the point of just raw dishonesty. Mental arithmetic is not what maths is, and you should simply knock this off.
Yes. Yes. Disappointed

Why do you deel that school should teach tricks for calculations? Schools teach a technique by which one can do any multiplication. Mathematics is not ability to do 5 digit calculations in head, thats just calculations.
Most of the things are stolen from Indian Vedic Maths without giving credit to it , just like west has done it all through the history.
Cry about it
Non of them are Vedic math .
Most of the rapid calculation tricks and techniques that I've seen are the kind of thing that could be reinvented or rediscovered many times, without having to be "stolen" from other sources.
@@painpeace3619 actually… if u see the different books written by Shri Bharathi Krishna Tirthaji(1911 AD)then u can find these
True. No wonder world stumbled upon enlightenment after Arabs relayed decimal, zero, number system, pi, Pythagoras, trigonometry, space maths and later rebranded gravitation laws and what not. They’re still haven’t figured out Ramanujan, coz he didn’t provided proofs lol.
State when credit is due. They can’t escape when it’s public knowledge.
However, Indian govt. Is equally to blame today for this blatant rebranding, including turmeric, amla, ghee, triphala, Shilahjit, ashwagandha, “meditation”, yoga and on and on and on
