I found myself holding my breath several times while listening I was so captivated. You have a way of narratorating that draws me in and touches my soul. I cried at the end of this one...it was so wonderful and melancholy at the same time. LH, you are awesome! 🙂✌👍

I agree with most of the other commenters, this was a modern fairy tale & very sad, poignant & strangely beautiful. So very different from almost anything thing else ive heard. It was so unusual that i could be very easily persuaded, this, was a real story. After all there was an underground city of many levels deep below the earth at Catal Hoiyyuk( apologies to any Turkish readers for my bad spelling) that goes back thousands & thousands of years so an underground tunnel down a deep shaft doesn't seem an impossibility. Thank you so very much L.H. this was truely wonderful.
I love this one. It’s not your average horror story. The true horror is what we do. It’s a great subversion of the typical “aliens found in a remote place” story. I was thinking of “The Mountains of Madness” and “The Thing” initially, but this was a poignant and well done subversion.
I'm the author. I'm not sure what the average reader/listener's age is, but I like to put stuff like that in my stories. I'm 41, and my friends and I used to walk to the store and get Clearly Canadian and Andy capp's hot fries..lol.

Last time I found a bottle was a couple of years ago and it was full of artificial sweeteners, gone from the perfect balance of tart and sweet to just cloyingly saccharine. I was very disappointed. Are you a Ray Bradbury fan? Your story would have fit perfectly in the pages of October Country or the Illustrated Man. My eyes welled up just before Jack mentioned his and Vlad's coming to tears. That's pretty special. Thank you, Mr. Rushbrook, for sharing this.

I watched Ray Bradbury Theater some with my parents, but I couldn't recall a bit of it. I also read F451 for school, I believe in the 9th grade. I don't recall what it was about other than burning books, and a guy's struggle with being responsible for doing it. I was reading a lot more at that age than I do now. Now, as my daughter (at 9 years old) answered an assignment that said "do you read outside of school?,"... "I read the TV to find my shows."

He’s definitely in my top 2 and you can pick either to be #1 and I wouldn’t argue. Lighthouse and Creepy Ghost stories are similar in style but different. Easy to listen to and just sucks you in. Plus they pick GOOD STORIES instead of the others....you know what I mean.
I’ve lost the story twice just by zoning out picturing this all in my head. I started it over twice. Now, normally I’d be like “Awe man..I don’t remember how far into it I was…” but with this I didn’t mind starting over and listening from the beginning. Great story and storytelling and you really know how to draw the audience in and keep them! Thank you 😊

I've was several hundred creepypastas and several hundred SCP entries and most stories like those tend to follow the same templets and the same tropes, but this one really broke the mold. It wasnt predictable, it had an unexpected ending, interesting story and characters, and it had a really creative mythology.

wowww...that was an amazing story...i was rivated by it...had an amazing ending too...wonderful narration doll face...i love stories like this...so cudoos....it was full of detailes...just captured me by the way it progressed...that so depicts how mankind acts too...they take advantage of others they deem weak but in the end are killed by the slaves that were only here to make a home...so appladed the ending...both sad and triuphumpant....you did good...
