      “WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH!”
      Is ubiquitous amidst nearly any human endeavor involving potentially catastrophic consequences or damages. It’s just a fact of nature at this point go ahead name some it’s fun.
      Trees, dogs, horses, guns, vehicles, equipment, tools, food, liquor, drugs, fireworks, fistfights, we use that for everything.

      A second adjustable lanyard on your centre D ring is an effective cinching method. Works similar to the friction saver system and its rather comfortable

      Its a ring cinch. The guy that fell knew he was dropping a big top, he was just being cocky. He shouldve tied on a reduntant line and didnt. That was 100% his fault.

      Honestly they guy cutting should not have been taking it that big. He should have been in the top of the tree. Period. He was being lazy and it almost cost him his life

    You can also climb srt and use a running bowline around the trunk, and it will serve the same purpose.

      @AverageHouseHusband 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't like a bowline for life support personally but agree SRT with any kind of cinching Anker is preferable for me.

    Having your Lifeline singed around the tree also helps to prevent that in the video it appears he didn't do that he only had his Flipline around the tree which is also an OSHA violation you're supposed to be double tide in at all times when using a chainsaw

    • @timisme21

      2 wraps does work, but the video is addressing ANSI guidance. ANSI states that you need to be attached by two separate systems at least one of which must be self clinching.

  • @rodger603

    excellent idea and I'm actually making one of these for saddle hunting. I've done tree work for a long time and my brother runs a business in Ohio and I actually would just double wrap my safety to lock me in. I've had the same thing almost happen but my safety grabbed. but I know someone who actually rode the tree down and left the spike stub and it caught him in the armpit and messed him up really bad. had to have some of those chest muscle removed and placed into his armpit. be safe out there guys!

    I use it with a Zig Zag and a USaver pulley saver. Works like a dream and its retrievable. Can be setup different ways as needed, used like a double lanyard, used for work positioning, used to repel.

  • @cgfitnessandarboriculture
    @cgfitnessandarboriculture ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I just cinch my line around the trunk. Personally though, I don’t like being tied into just a spar with only lanyard for any length of time. I’ll use the cinching system even when ascending and just advance the climb line up with my lanyard. That way in the event that you gaff out or maybe need to bail real quick, you can quickly tighten the cinched climb line and it will support you / prevent you from sliding down the spar

    Was literally about to climb a couple spars a company left behind. Throw a rope up top and just spike back down with a drt and carabiner around the tree as backup to the lanyard. Will definitely just be buying one of these.

  • @bunyipdan
    @bunyipdan ปีที่แล้ว

    If we are talking safety standards.....just curious why the cinching anchor/rope doesn't require a safety stopper knot tied in the running end to prevent the prusik from accidentally coming off the end?

  • @mayfalltribe4747

  • @jameskirk3
    @jameskirk3 ปีที่แล้ว

    To be fair, he knew he was dropping a big top with a lot of tension, he shouldve tied oj a second line. That was just stupidity that allowed him to fall. Cocky climbers learn the hard way.

  • @benjaminchen1964
    @benjaminchen1964 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

  • @humboldthunterfishfool4817
    @humboldthunterfishfool4817 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your pretty limited to the size of the tree with your system unless you have longer lanyards. Your prusick is almost bottomed out and the tree isn't very big attal 💁‍♂️

  • @rap5374
    @rap5374 ปีที่แล้ว

    That’s why you tie up you climbing line along side your flip. I’ve taken hits like that and not gaffed out so I really don’t think he was prepared for that

  • @donaldsmith6404
    @donaldsmith6404 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    If you use a carabiner on the prusik side you can advance the system a lot easier.

    • @donaldsmith6404

  • @roypdxful
    @roypdxful 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You trust a friction hitch with your life? Even us rock climbers don’t do that, we only use them as backups or for utility in systems.

  • @ZackAriah94
    @ZackAriah94 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You could just wrap your rope around a second time if climbing drt, then you don't need to buy this extra piece of equipment ;) you cant abseil down after but it will do exactly the same thung if you fall

  • @bjjthaiboxing
    @bjjthaiboxing 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I get what you're saying but you got way too much length in your system so it's hard to take you serious? Put a chainsaw in your hands, then show me if want to convince me?
    I think the problem is your harness. The rope bridge on the front of your harness is adding unnecessary distance.

    The similar design of most powerline synch squeezing belts I’ve seen minus the pole teeth grips. I Think it’s crazy how much synch belts are overlooked considering they will most times hold you relatively exactly where you would’ve been spurring down. Great video to bring awareness especially for younger people getting into climbing.
