Joe Cocker is an exceptional vocalist. Watching him perform makes you wish you knew what to do when you see an epileptic seizure (just watch his old live performances). But he is absolutely great. My favorite song is "Now That the Magic Has Gone" in which he pours his heart out. Such heartfelt pain singing about the end of a relationship. Please watch the official video...it's fire!

Joe Cocker most definitely put on the stank face on many, many performances. Some of the best blue-eyed soul out there. A few must-listen suggestions: She Came In Thru The Bathroom Window, The Jealous Kind, Catfish (About the pitching great Catfish Hunter), A Song For You (My all time favorite of his), Look What you’ve Done, and Worrier. I grew up with Joe Cocker's music. He was an English singer known for his gritty, bluesy voice & dynamic stage performances that featured expressive body movements. He recorded a few Beatles' songs "With A Little Help From My Friends", "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" & "Something". Other hits were "Up Where We Belong" (a duet with Jennifer Warnes), "Delta Lady", "Cry Me A River", "The Letter" etc.

His "expressive movements" reminds me of when he had ZERO sense of humor about John Belushi impersonating him on Saturday Night Live, vowing to never appear on that show, drawing so much more attention to his unique expressions and movements. I was really young, but the whole thing stuck with me. My dad liked Joe Cocker's music and was also a big fan of Belushi and the original Saturday Night Live. Look up videos of Belushi impersonating Cocker on SNL. He did multiple sketches playing Cocker & honestly he had him pegged. It was hilarious. I believe Joe Cocker finally appeared not only on SNL but did a duet with Belushi. They were almost identical visually but were TOTALLY IDENTICAL with their singing! Belushi was so talented!

I've got 2 comments...the first is I was feeling Asia when she said that piano part reminded her of Charlie Brown or actually Linus playing piano. Listen sometimes to the Charlie Brown instrumental. BJ . your right about Joe Cocker with the ugly face or stink face. I've seen him in concert and he's real animated. I thought at first he was epileptic. My brother schooled me. BJ there are A LOT of singers that have the " ugly face" when singing cause their feeling it or just it's coming from deep in their soul. One of the most fun songs to listen to that has been released since I've been alive. I love this song. A hit in 1969. A few years later in 1974, I was with a friend at the Troubadour in Hollywood seeing Leo Sayer, who had just broken on to the scene. Standing room only. An arm's length away from me during the show was none other than George Harrison of the Beatles. After the show as we were leaving the club, the guy in the car park who parked our car (God knows where) was gone for the night and we found our keys on his peg board in his little booth. That's when a very drunk Joe Cocker stumbled out of the club and helped us locate our car. That's my memory of Joe Cocker. By the way, there's a great song of his from his second album that probably no one will request that I think you'd enjoy called "Hitchcock Railway." Never released as a single. Great jam.

You guys have a great advantage, you get to read the lyrics as you listen to the song. When we wanted to understand the lyrics of a song we would have to listen to the song over and over again on our record players and try to figure the words out, unless you had an album with the lyrics written inside.

I was about 15-16....listened to music all the time. Still do. Rarely understood all the words. Just laying back on the sofa. Sorry, it went out again. Who's got the lighter?

Joe Cocker, The Letter. Super powerful. Studio, not live. Also, Unchain My Heart.

Think about this for a moment. Joe Cocker recorded 2 songs from the greatest ever pop music producing tsunami, The Beatles, and Joe now owns both musically speaking. Other versions do not rank with Joe's productions. That is one incredible accomplishment.
