I always cry at this song. When I was pregnant with my third baby they were doing ultra sounds every 3 weeks trying to figure out what was wrong with him. Did he have spina bifida, was he hydrocephalic, did he have kidneys. Every ultra sound brought a new problem. When he was born 3 weeks early there were 5 pediatric specialists waiting in the delivery room with us. He was 5 lb. 9 oz. and they couldn't find anything wrong with him except he was very high jaundice. His skin was so white it was kind of see through, he was bald and he had an allergic reaction to the eye drops that made his eyes swell shut. He was the ugliest little thing ever but he was Perfect. This was our special song and I played it all the time for him, he loved it.
How old is he now? My son was born 6 weeks early with a hole in his heart. He had open heart surgery which saved his life but paralyzed his throat and right eye. He was on a feeding tube for seven months. He looked like a robotic alien. But he was beautiful to us. Eventually all his nerves healed. He learned to swallow and his eye got stronger. He's now a six year old full of energy and in the 80th percentile. . He's my warrior.

This song means so much to me! My Father was a singer and piano player back in the day. He would play several gigs a week in the late '60s and early '70s! He slowly got away from it as he got married and had us kids, four of us! He got to watch us grow up loving music. He always had great music playing in the house. It was the best thing he could have done for me. I'm also a singer and musician. Music is the air that I breathe! On my 16th Birthday, my Dad took me out to dinner, just him and I. As we were driving back home, this song came on the radio. He hardly ever sang anymore. I think because he missed it so much. On this special day, he sang it to me from start to finish! It made us both cry. Then came my wedding day... I told him we should pick a song for our father/daughter dance, but he said I should pick the song. We hadn't ever talked about the song after my 16th Birthday, so I was pretty sure it wouldn't have crossed his mind that I would choose it. As we were called to the dance floor, the song started to play. My dad immediately knew what it was and instantly started to tear up. We danced while everyone was watching us. We didn't have a chance at holding back the tears. My dad told me how proud he was of me, that he could see how happy I was, and that my Husband was truly the one meant for me. After the dance, my mother asked why I picked that song... I said because Dad sang it to me on my 16th Birthday. She said "He did?" I told her it was memory that was just ours, so I thought it would be perfect for our dance. My husband and I celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary, the end of April! As the story goes... Billy Preston was out in Laurel Canyon. He was attending a party and Dennis Wilson was there. Dennis asked Billy to come down to the basement with him to listen to a song that he had written. He asked Billy to fill in the piano for him. Dennis liked the piano and told Billy he could use it. Billy Preston goes to Joe Cocker and tells him that he has to do a new song that he had written. And didn't tell Joe that Dennis really had written the song and that he had just filled in some of the piano.
