- This show is so dreadfully underrated and this video should serve as a fair enough argument as to why I make that claim.

I'm trying to bring Dan Vs back.
As early as August, plans were being drawn up between me and Christopher Pearson, the co-creator of the show, for a scheme to get the show revived. Now with phase 1 of the scheme complete, it's time for PHASE TWO.

I remember with the little memory I have of my childhood experience watching this is that in one episode, Dan grew attached to this kid and at the end Chris spoke to his wife about having kids, then she looked at Dan and said: *I think we already have one*

@@flying_Night_slasher Because unlike Samurai jack to where the value(fight scenes) went up because there was no limitations, the value of this show(in this case the creative use of adult humor and the fact that it even uses it so much for a kids show) would have no effect or may even go down due to saturation. I truly believe that the value of the show thrives in it being a borderline adult show, and once you move it away from that border line it will most likely become just like any other one on the network with nothing to make it unique as it would on a kids network. Would it be funny if they kept this writing? Most likely yeah, but still not as memorable or intriguing as it is now. And remember, this is what I think is the best case scenario for it, it could easily be done poorly and just be a husk of what it used to be and seem as a worse version of every other show on the network. It would become the new ren and stimpy adult party cartoon. Notice how the only thing that changed in samurai jack was the fight scenes being more bloodier? The humor never changed and the last season had barely any use of swear word and when it did, they were light swear words like “damn”. Notice how even adult comedy cartoons like bojack horseman barely use the f word in the whole show? That’s because well written shows don’t have a need for swear words, they are adult cartoons because that’s how they need to get their creativity, not as a lazy way to write a show, and Dan vs. isn’t a show that needs the leverage to tell a mature story or to show off the full fight scene, because it isn’t that type of show, it’s a kids show that gets it humor from being borderline adult, not an actual adult cartoon

I have no idea why they thought this was a children's show when it's more so a teenager show its kinda to childish (in my opinion) to be for adults but to adult to be for children so the only logical thing is that this show is targeted towards teenagers
It was originally pitched to Adult Swim but got shifted to The Hub, it was nice to see a darker kids show, but I do think the target audience would've been teens.

@@tannerbruning868 No, that's one of the main reasons it faltered. The show applied to be aired on Adult Swim and got cancelled, so they setteld for the Hub of all people.
Since it was on the same network as MLP, it had to be technically kid friendly. But the humor in Dan Vs. isn't intended for kids, more for teenagers and adults.
As MLP started taking over the network and other shows got cancelled, Dan Vs. got the boot quickly. It's a shame but I feel like it'd have been inevitable, the show really had no place on the Hub of all places. Maybe it'll get accepted for Adult Swim this time around, the creators are trying to revive it.
honest to god im glad it was a children’s show. it was one of my favorite’s as a kid. some of its limitations led to really fun getarounds as well as showing what can be done in a kid’s show. im 100% sure they still did an episode where chris and dan trip balls and had it be kid friendly still
Usually you'd expect incredibly sharp writing in this show, (and there is) but let's be honest: Just the image alone of Dan and Chris driving a car with a live Shark strapped to it is all you need. They could say anything in that scene and you're almost guaranteed to laugh.

The humor in this show is something special, it's not exactly deadpan Because they're so expressive, but it's not over the top or edgy at all, it's just conflicting personalities working off each other
I remember seeing a promo for it on the hub when I was either 6, 7, or 8 years old and I didn't care about it until now. How could I miss out on such an awesome cartoon!?

I just realized how amazing the animation is, from the hand-painted backgrounds, to the facial expressions and movement... and the voice acting, dear god. This is such high-quality shit. From 2010. I'm so proud and impressed.

Tbh I think it being forced to be a kids show helps it alot since it makes the writers be more creative with jokes and not just "funny cartoon swear"

Yeah they just cancelled out of the blue, but hey we got three seasons out of it.
I thought it was because the viewership for this show (and consequently the whole channel when not including MLP) was low, which tbf, not many people were aware of this show unless they also watched MLP and caught the chance to watch Dan Vs alongside MLP.
It probably didn't help either that the Hub was behind a cable paywall and this was the start of around the time when networks were starting to focus on making their own streaming services to compete against Netflix.
Makes me wish Dan Vs could've found other ways to garner a larger audience, then it'd gain the viewership to continue a little bit...

It'd be cool to see how Dan Vs would look on Adult Swim, but with it working to be creative against network boundaries, it reminded me of some of the older classic cartoons that had adult jokes/scenerios while still being kid friendly content (like Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy).
Makes me wonder if it wasn't mixed in with a channel that was part of an expensive cable package and only had one show as it's main selling point for an audience (MLP), then it could've garnered even more of attention.

@Haven Thomas This Dan Vs. Episode is the "Beach" Episode. They're at the Aquarium, because Dan wants to steal a shark and let it go at the beach.
A great thing about Dan is he doesn’t start it, he finishes it. Like he doesn’t just put you on the shit list unless they’ve wronged him 1st or to the breaking point.

I wish Dan Versus got the recognition it deserved, at least in the last couple years it started getting popular because of it finally being released for free.
Probably the main reason why Dan Vs didn't get popular because in the early 2010's, it was getting overshadowed by other popular shows like MLP, Regular Show, Adventure Time, Gumball, and Phineas and Ferb.

It was originally pitched to Adult Swim before being shifted to The Hub, I do think part of its appeal (for me personally) comes from it being JUST bearable for children. But the creator Chris Pearson said that he's keen to revive the show while also making it slightly more adult-themed, I just hope the show doesn't lose its charm this way and that only benefits it.

In every Dan Vs episode, the episode is always titled Dan Vs (insert what he hates in this episode) So the title is implying that Dan is against being dreadfully underrated. So the title is like an episode title, it caught my eye when I watched the video. This show is so underrated for what it is, I think in today’s world, we need this show back!

It's a bit funny (not necessarily "ha ha" funny) that Dan inadvertently seems to have saved someone from being murdered for Satan in that episode, all because someone threw a brick through his car window.

This show is the barest definition of a kids show. Honestly, I thought Dan vs. was cringy when I was a kid but now I see, it's a damn work of art. It is surprisingly mature, consistent, and actually extremely funny. The references are also top notch, I can't believe Japan got accurate and non stereotypical representation and the phantom of the opera bit was hilarious. In the episode with the ninja, the poison actually looks hauntingly similar to a salvia trip, and I still can't believe they included an accurate portrayal of a psychedelic trip in a kids show. I have a hard time laughing usually because my standard for humor is so high but I burst out cackling multiple times. Completely underrated show, better than rick and morty 10/10
