Am I the only one who feels genuinely let down that the "pre-story" had absolutely nothing to do with the main story? WTH?

Sychonut I think he was just telling us the best high school summers he had. Bc the boy band was the summer going into grade 9 and the radio contest was the summer going into grade 10.
Na I think this is a case of him just over-telling the first part of the story, maybe to fill up the time, because he knew the second one would only take up like 7 minutes or w.e. I think the first story does tie into the second story, because it gives us the context for where he was going when the gorilla in the morning van intercepts him. He was going back to Hampton Beach. Knowimsayin
Besides what Kathy points out, Story "A" establishes the setting/context because it was easy to get away with shit in the 90s...when people didn't have the internet in their pockets, plus the girl suspecting shenanigans, but not caring shows runs through story "B"...local boy blatantly colludes with passerby to win contest, blatantly lies when asked about it, admits it to everyone's irritation minutes after and is even too young for contest, so they use the passerby *that helped him cheat* put her info on the release forms instead...
like, damn, kids...age of retard presidents for sure.
Haha nice change of pace from the stories about crazy misadventures on hard drugs or shootouts. Those stories are definitely a trip, but a "wholesome" story from time to time is nice. :)

Lol I'm from southern NH and used to get so pumped when we would take trips to hampton when I was a kid. Later on me and my friends would just go there to party for the weekend. Last time I went I got so wasted i passed out on the beach and my friends drew penises on my stomach with sunscreen lol.

It's funny I did all this stuff since I grew up north of Boston. Kiss 108. Hampton beach, etc. sounds like my teenage years. Matty in the morning is still on I believe too. Kiss is good for pop music and they put on a big kiss concert in the summer.

Idk what it is about dudes from the east coast, but they're just naturally funnier. These story's weren't amazing, but he has the attitude to make them funnier.

Coming from Boston i can say its easier to be an asshole and just say whats on your mind when you have a bunch of similar people around you... I went from being kind of a nice person to not really giving a shit and just doing what i do without worrying... and its not all people but typically people with an east coast accent you can count on for good stories because those are the people they are around!
You know, fairly boring stories. I mean, not "watching paint dry" boring, but you've got to have some better stories than that as a comedian...
Great story, Jay is a incredible storyteller, he set the stage perfect. These are stories not just jokes, don't expect one big punchline at the very end of every story.

The only reason why people are expecting a big punch line at the end of the story is because - as a result of his timing, pacing and voice inflections - he built it up as if there were a big punch line at the end of the story. Not to mention, the minor jokes were really not funny. I would have to rewind the entire video to pinpoint when it was that he told a joke.
