Hiiii ! I just bought a glow forge , I’m curious of the reason why you engraved the back side? Is it because it may be dangerous to engrave the front since it’s kinda a mirror ? Could you cover the front in the masking tape and engrave the front ?
Hi Michelle! No specific reason, many people engrave on the front. I liked the look of the name "inside" the acrylic, rather than it sitting on top with the mirror effect. You could 100% engrave the front, just make sure to mask!
Very Nice! Thank you for the tutorial! I just received my Glowforge Pro the other day and have no idea what I'm doing just yet. I look forward to future videos.
If I am using an iridescent acrylic sheet that is translucent but still has a very shiny side to it, what settings would you suggest? Similar to this? Or would you say go with clear? Thanks!

Hello! I'm just finding your channel and love it! Your videos are so easy to follow and informative. I was wondering if there was a link to the tape you applied to the back of the acrylic?
Jump rings are really pretty easy...take 2 flatnose pliers and hold your jump ring one each side of the split with your pliers. Twist in opposite directions...one toward you one away from you. When ready to close it up just do the opposite. Do not pull it apart...it’s more of a twisting motion. Hope this helps 😊

Hi Tracey! Not a specific video, but I am hoping to have more done soon. If you need any specialized help, I also offer one one one virtual sessions :)
Needed this video! I've been doing my keychains a little differently but this is the method I really wanted to learn. One thing I didn't understand, if you can clarify, was why you were working on the backside of acrylic. oppose to the mirrored side. I feel like this is important but didn't quite get it.
I wanted the name to be a bit darker. When you engrave the backside, it takes the mirror reflection from the name. Both sides have their benefits, so I suggest doing tiny test cuts to find your preference. 🥰
Good question! I buy the sheets for $15 a piece and each keychain is about 4 inches, so it costs me a little under .30 a keychain in acrylic. After that, the hardware is about .50 a piece (more or less depending on distributor and sales). If you're efficient, you can make these for about $1.50 and I sell them for around $12, sometimes more for longer names!
I used 1/8 inch for this, but I am going to record a video on an updated process where I stack to 1/8 inches to make it 1/4 thick. This will make it more stable.
