As a designer from Virginia Beach who moved from Eastern Shore to NYC this is incredibly close to home (metaphorically and physically). Love the story, Kevin is very 757-esque. Love to see it!
My dream is to become an industrial designer, I come from a very very low income family, I battled drug addiction from 16-20, and missed out on college.. I now am 4 years sober tho! But today, I am addicted to design, how things look, act, and reflect the environments they are in. I label myself now as an “artist” mainly painting, and designing everyday in 3D programs to hopefully have the space to make these creations. I would love to work for a company like this in my future endeavors in New York.. this is a dream of mine. Maybe I can make it work without traditional education, and someone will give me a chance one day. Thanks for the inspiration.
We are rooting for you and we believe you can make it happen! It is 100% possible to make it work without traditional education, if you are determined and keep pushing to learn and develop your skills, chances will come. So happy to hear this provided a bit of inspiration
Loved this video! I've been a Graphic & Website designer for the last 8 years and now... I wanna switch to industrial design. But it seems like a lengthy process. Do I *need* a degree? I'm already good and sketching and conceptualizing. Any advice on how to make the switch?? Also, any chance we could see Kevin's portfolio or any similar work for inspiration.

1:34 One-hundo P, I can't turn the sponge part of my brain off and I wouldn't want to. After watching Gary Hustwit's 'Helvetica' for the first time I spent a month being constantly distracted by random fonts and type-sets I would see throughout the day.
how can i contribute my part? i too wish to create all these cool things that solve problems and leave an impression! im from india and the community isn't that bright over here yet.. or maybe it's just very reserved.
