Hello Doctor Ellis! I am a 65 year old woman. I purchased my first K Beauty products last fall and I'm hooked. Why? Luxury, performance and so comfortable on my skin. I love the glow they give me. I've had multiple people stop and ask what I use on my skin! Korean Beauty is light years ahead!
BOJ Relief sunscreen broke me out SO BADLY! First use - it gave me itchy, stinging, burning feeling along with red bumps all over my face! Yet, I did continue to use it thinking that maybe my skin would get used to it, but big NO! It got worse and worse. I still don't know exactly which ingredient caused that so that I could avoid that ingredient. For reference, I have combo-dry, sensitive, acne and blemish prone skin, I am 24 years old. Dr. Sam I love your videos, could you please tell me what could cause that irritation on me? Thank you!
Honestly, I came across a lot of reviews about litellileextra riceberry moisturizer and cleanser prior to getting it, and it was definitely a good decision. It really gives my skin a radiant look post applying it. I use it daily every morning. Love the texture, it sinks into the skin easily without effort and has brightened the skin. It leaves the skin feeling smooth and soft after application and provides deep hydration. Just don't forget to layer it with SPF50 sunscreen on top, and you’ll be set for the whole day.
US sunscreens have always REALLY irritated my eyes. They sting was so bad sometimes. K-beauty sunscreens have absolutely changed the game! I can apply liberally over my eyelids and it doesn't irritate my eyes at all.
I have had no luck with the K sunscreens - they still sting my eyes and burn my skin. I find them so overhyped and they don't offer as good UVA protection as European sunscreens do, so not worth it to me.
I have oily skin and I really like the Skin 1004 Centella one. I’ve repurchased it multiple times. It has the kind of glow that I wish my oily skin would give off, and although it doesn’t have a tint I feel like it evens out my skin tone. This might just be my experience, but it might be worth a try if you have oily skin.
Beauty of Joseon is the best. I bought it on your recommendation last year and I’ve been so impressed by it. It’s lightweight, I don’t feel it on my skin but the sun doesn’t get through it.
Theo😊 Love that he's in your video and you can see him say "Mama". Anyway, I love the Skin 1004 and have repurchased 3 more tubes. And the BofJ is really really awesome. I've also repurchased it. They both feel so good when you rub it in and never ever burn your eyes. I also have the Purito Barrier Relief Moisturizer and its very nice as well. I've ordered all these from Stylevana and am very happy with that. Thanks for your recs !!
It’s Japanese but my fav is the Skin Aqua UV Moisture Gel. It’s so wonderful to apply and water-resistant. I get the one in a pump for easy dosage (1 pump = 1g). Dries so quickly & never looks gross if you sweat. In fact, that is my one beef w a lot of the popular Asian sunscreens mentioned on TH-cam: people’s favs are rarely water resistant. And as somebody who lives in the southern US-in a humid climate where it’s summer half the year here-a daily water-resistant sunscreen is a non-negotiable for me. I don’t care if I’m not swimming or hiking, etc. It is just too sweaty and humid here (even only running errands) for a sunscreen that’s not water-resistant to work properly imo. But I guess if you don’t live in a steam room climate 24/7, maybe people don’t need them? 🤷🏼♀️
Just note that K sunscreens focus a lot on actives in their SPFs, but don't necessarily provide good UVA protection. European sunscreens focus more on that, so I'll pay more for them and put up with a slightly heavier texture to get the UVA protection that I'm after.
I took the Isa Knox with me to a beach vacation in Greece - perfect!! I'm pale and burn easily and it was a life saver. Also the bottle is flat and so easy to push it in any small bag
LOVE the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen! Bought it on your recommendation and have been telling everyone how lovely this sunscreen is! It feels great on my skin, not greasy or sticky, not smelly, absorbs easily. Just love it , I use it all the time now that I found something that feels great and works well. Took it to Mexico recently and I did not burn when using this. Thanks for this video!
One of the very important aspects of Korean sunscreens that you don’t mention - most of the sunscreens you mention are *daily* sunscreens, meaning they are meant to be work on your normal days like running errands and going to work. They are NOT meant for days at the beach or playing sports. Those sunscreens can be identified by having “waterproof” or “outdoor” or “leports” (combination of the words leisure and sports) in the name. Even reapplying every two hours isn’t enough if you’re wearing a sunscreen that is meant for daily use if you’re at the beach. I never hear this distinction when folks mention Korean sunscreens and it’s REALLY IMPORTANT.
i may misunderstand what you are saying, but isn't that with most sunscreens (not only korean sunscreens) anyway? most sunscreens mention if they are waterproof or not and then if it isn't mentioned then you know it isn't?
@@beccatrigger partially, yes! I think what I’m trying to highlight is that the language is different for K-beauty sunscreens. For example, they might say “outdoors” but not waterproof. I think it’s worth saying that even tho these sunscreens are more sophisticated, they aren’t meant for an entire day outside. IOW, we should all have two types of sunscreens. ☺️
So many amazing recs! Shoutout to pcalm, which is a super underrated Korean brand. I found out about their cato cream through another one of my favorite youtubers and absolutely fell in love! Their spf is currently on my wishlist
I bought Beauty of Joseon because of your recommendation and I have to say that this sunscreen is absolutely incredible and I love it sooo much!!! Works really well on my oily skin... makes no greasy or sticky layer. Thank you :)
I adore skin1004 spf, it is my all time favorite, but BOJ spf irritates my eyeas and is too „oily”, so those slight differences between them make a difference.
Omg I saw the title of this video and got so excited! I love K beauty, especially their sunscreens. Started using BOJ ss because of you lol. Can you make a J beauty video too? Started using HadaLabo oil cleanser because of you too.
Dr sam I have been using beauty of joseon suncream for long time by your recommendation! it was really impressive experience on me! I'm so supprised when i realized that you are mentioning P.CALM sunsreen since I recently had a chance to try P.CALM sun cream! Comparing to Beauty of joseon, It was entirely similar in texture but price was more reasonable for me. Also, i really loved that it feels like moisturizing skin even it's sunscreen ! Let me keep trying it!
This is a fantastic set of k-beauty recommendations. I recently got the P.Calm cato cream and have been loving it. it is so effortless and lovely on the skin. I also adore the Numbuzin toner, which, fun fact, is also fantastic to use on the body.
Thank you! There are a ton of great options to choose from and I’m excited to continue to try new things, but I just come back to these picks over and over 💕

You are amazing! TY so much for this video & for letting us know about this amazing shop! I ❤ K-Beauty and have found it works better for my skin than any other. Sincerely, Kristie A.
I only wear mineral SPF and the one by Klavuu is the best for me ❤ I also tried Isntree moisturizer because of your recommendations but it does not suit my skin really well. I think it is also pore-clogging. So I prefer K-brands Klavuu, Dr Jart, and Farmstay on my combination skin.
Dr. Sam, have you used the Numbuzin no 3 skin softening serum yet? It is my holy grail serum so you must try it if you haven’t. I put the essence on my list already. I have been unable to use any actives for a week due to an upcoming laser treatment. I have been using the serum morning and night and my skin looks better than it has in years. Cannot believe it since I use tret and azelaic acid as my heavy hitters. I was worried my skin would go to crap in a week without them but have been so surprised at my skin texture, evening skin tone, glow and lack of any new acne at all.
Currently using a K beauty essence, COSRX Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence. Bought it on a whim, as it’s supposed to be a dupe for SK-II. Have to say this is my first essence, and I’m really enjoying the moisture it provides my skin. Also, recently purchased of Beauty of Joseon eye serum and cleansing balm. The cleansing balm is just like Farmacy’s without the fragrance and price tag. The prices of K beauty are really affordable, as long as you are willing to be patient with their longer international delivery times.
I'm be really interested if these are ACTUALLY SPF 50 PA++++. Had Beauty of Joseon sunscreen, loved it for everyday wear, but when I brought it to my ski trip, my whole face burned. Switched back to La Roche-Posay and it's been fine. There was a scandal with Korean skincare brands faking their sun protection data a while ago, including some well-known brands such as Purito. It'd be great to see if these actually passed some sort of tests.
I have heard that that particular one is more of an indoor sunscreen, like if you’re in the office most of the day 🙄. It makes me cautious to use the K sunscreens if I’m going to be outside.
Thanks for all these amazing recommendations! Do you use all these on your body, too? Kind of wondering about best sunscreens for use on larger areas of the body and the amount needed. Thanks!
Derma B is a korean sunscreen foe face and body. Comes in a bigger amount (I believe 6 oz) for around $20. Ive been using it every day for a few months now. It is a scented chemical sunscreen and kind of smells like an herb garden. The scent does not dissipate but I dont mind the smell. I have never used it on my face though but it is an excellent body sunscreen. I have not had a single sunburn and I go for a walk every day. It is super spreadable and absorbs quickly on my skin.
I really do like the Korean skin care products quite a bit, especially the sunscreens. Be aware though, shipments can take quite some time to get to the states. I placed an order March 12th...today is the 25th and it's still not here.
@@ARYANJEE-uu3qe I actually really like it! Doesn't make me break out or look oily and the price point is 👌 I alternate between this and the EltaMD clear-tinted

I LOVE my Biossance squalene + omega repair cream. Sometimes i just use virgin coconut oil, and my sun bum mineral facial sunscreen stick! ❤ I'm in my 30's and dry skin with hormonal acne for reference
Reqesting another k-beauty vid! Can you get into some more categories, please? Makeup, perhaps? Ones that work for you/ are kind to rosacea prone skin.
There is a new K. Moisterizer, not so known yet. I bought it on Amazon ( Raviel enriched super ceremide cream )It has good reviews but not many people bought it yet. Its a tiny bit fragranced, smells more like a light lemon. Made for sensetive skin. But just be care full it also has Lavender oil in it. You can’t smell it but apperntly its in there. I do use it also on the back of my hands. Once in a while I get an itch , so I am thinking its the Lavender. Its overall a nice cream other wise. I maybe not oredering again though. You have to try it to see if it is for you.
Korea gets freezing cold they have brutal winters, with extremely high winds. Maybe that is why they have such good hydrating products because that climate can damage skin easily
@drsamellis Off topic but your make-up look in this video is stunning. Can you advise on the blush, lip, eye shadow? I love the purito barrier moisturizer in the pm and recently switched from tinted elta MD to drmtlgy universal tinted in the am. Not sure which one I like better.
Hey there, thank you for your video! I have a drier skin and I want to try a P.Calm one. But I do wonder, would you use a moisturizer before putting P.Calm Spf or not? thanks!!
Which of these sunscreens would be best for sensitive & rosacea skin? Should any of these sunscreens be avoided by people who have sensitive or rosacea skin?
What K-Beauty moisturizers would you recommend for sensitive & rosacea skin? Also, which moisturizers should people with sensitive or rosacea skin avoid?
Maybe I should finish the video before I comment 😂. I also have the Numbizen essence and a cleansing oil you recommended. Nothing you recommend has ever let me down. My 19 year old daughter will look at a K Beauty product I have and simply say “Dr. Sam?”
Up until a few years ago I used chemical sunscreens without any problem. Two years ago I used a filter with Uvinul A Plus (diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate) which is contained in many new sunscreen including a lot of korean sunscreen. I had a massive photo allergic reaction and since then all chemical sunscreen I tried, even with filtres I had not problem with before that episode, cause me to have a reaction when I'm exposed to the sun. It's wild. I do have a really rective and allergy prone skin, I have atopy, but for 27 years I had no problem with sunscreens ando then thanks to that filter I react to all of them lol And mineral sunscreen are so expensive in europe. To cut cost I Unfortunately started wearing sunscreen just when the UV index is above 3 and skip it if I'm inside a building with no windows or with decent curtains/blinds. I obv, as always, wear a big hat, seek shade as much as possible and I always use an umbrella in the sun. I can't afford to spend 50/60 euros a month (if I buy just mineral sunscreens and reapply every few hour everyday on face and body I need a pretty big amount) just for sunscreen. And that sucks.
beauty of joseon changed something on the formula. The newer batches have a sent like cherry gum and my rosacea prone skin don't like it. Before the change it was the absolute best SPF I've ever tried! My redness disappeared within a few minutes after application and this was incredible. I was used to wear it even at night when I was going out.. very sad about this 😭
@@ambergerhelper7852 I checked the batch numbers. So the last two packages one from stylevana and one from yesstyle are the same, booth with this scent and higher batch number as my old ones without the scent. First I though it might be a fake tube or expired ore whatever, but in the UV mirror it's still viable and so still protecting, at least it should be.
@@joules9566 That’s so weird. I’ve bought so many fake products from Amazon, I’m always weary. I was going to try it- because it’s everyone’s favorite- now I’m worried. Have you seen anyone else talk about it? (Not saying I don’t trust your experience, but wondering if anyone’s got an answer on if they changed the formula. Creators might not want to recommend it if they changed it.)
@@ambergerhelper7852 seems like my last answer's not uploaded. anyways, BOJ answered me and - surprise- the formula is NOT changed. That's really confusing cause I've never had a problem with stylevana. Yesstyle tried it for the first time. I'll order from stylevana again and additional from BOJ itself. My I mixed up the packages from yesstyle and stylevana and I got only from yesstyle the fake one. Beside this trouble I'm sooo damn happy BOJ don't change the product 🎉
Oh and dr Sam, speaking of Purito they released a new suncreen its called daily soft touch sunscreen that went viral and i really really believe you would like it, give us your opinion!
I know this is a face moisturizer video however, my son gets excess very bad in winter. He is now in the military and really needs skin protection.. anything you recommend or any of these?
Do you have a video of ones that are great for darker skin and also babies? Trying to find an antioxidant rich and moisturizing us spf if too expensive for me.
What I’m wondering is, if I use a Korean product like beauty of Joseon, and then I put octocrylene etc… on top of it in the form of a skin teint, does that render the SPF ineffective?
I buy Korean sunscreens and believe that some of their products are better. But I have a theory. Besides being #1 in plastic surgery, they have been serious about sun protection. Are we seeing superior products or just people who have protected their skin from the sun?
How do you get Stylvana to send the products? I used your code. They don’t seem to have shipped them in a month. They don’t respond to questions. What they do send is an overwhelming number of daily emails.

Are the sunscreen recommended Mineral or Chemical? Do they clog pors??
Lovely video! Is the essence supposed to go before vitamin c? I am guessing no but I am confused. Thanks so much!
What exfoliate would you reccomend for sensitive acne prone skin ???
I love Isntree Yam robot cream too.A hug.
Are they all reef safe? I live in Florida and it’s important to me to preserve the coral reef near me.
What K-Beauty moisturizers would you recommend for sensitive & rosacea skin?
Also, which moisturizers should people with sensitive or rosacea skin avoid?
guys how much time does skin 1004 lasts? I just purchased one!! Can't wait!
Are any of these sunscreens mentioned mineral?
Any good K-beauty mineral sunscreens? Anything organic irritates my eyes but so many US mineral sunscreens are just not elegant at all.
Maybe I should finish the video before I comment 😂. I also have the Numbizen essence and a cleansing oil you recommended. Nothing you recommend has ever let me down. My 19 year old daughter will look at a K Beauty product I have and simply say “Dr. Sam?”
🥰🥰🥰
Have you tried A'pieu pure block daily sunscreen? I'm curious how it compares with the ones you suggested. 😊
Can I use any of the sunscreens mentioned during pregnancy?❤
Are these sunscreen good for hyperpigmentation?
beauty of joseon changed something on the formula. The newer batches have a sent like cherry gum and my rosacea prone skin don't like it. Before the change it was the absolute best SPF I've ever tried! My redness disappeared within a few minutes after application and this was incredible. I was used to wear it even at night when I was going out.. very sad about this 😭
May I ask where you bought the offending tube from?
My problem is always finding a sunscreen that suits my dry, mature skin and that doesn’t make my foundation pill. Advice?
What lipstick are you wearing? It’s gorgeous!
Thank you! It’s the YSL candy glaze lip gloss stick in “Flashing Rosé”
Oh and dr Sam, speaking of Purito they released a new suncreen its called daily soft touch sunscreen that went viral and i really really believe you would like it, give us your opinion!
Yes love it! It’s included in my recent favorite sunscreens video! Wanted to share some other great ones here!
Can you do your makeup/colour look please?
Hello Dr. Sam, are the Korean sunscreens reef safe?
Are you supposed to apply K-beauty sunscreen before or after your moisturizer?
This was helpful
I know this is a face moisturizer video however, my son gets excess very bad in winter. He is now in the military and really needs skin protection.. anything you recommend or any of these?
I love numbuzin 3 essence. You put it on before glycolic acid serum at night?
Do you have a video of ones that are great for darker skin and also babies? Trying to find an antioxidant rich and moisturizing us spf if too expensive for me.
Isa Knox UV Sun Pro Sun Fluid SPF 50+ PA++++ IS GREAT, BUT FRAGRANCE IS KILLING ME
What I’m wondering is, if I use a Korean product like beauty of Joseon, and then I put octocrylene etc… on top of it in the form of a skin teint, does that render the SPF ineffective?
Purito Daily Soft Touch Sunscreen
Love this one.
Is the isa knox waterproof sunscreen alcohol free?
Is there concern for benzene contamination in Korean face sunscreens?
Hi. What about mineral body sunscreen
What they do send is an overwhelming number of daily emails.
shipping time can be long with Stylvana...
