Thank you so much! He is definitely a keeper. I think I now have enough MORE cards to make 2 more books. I told him he needs to start being a little choosier on which cards to keep and which ones maybe can be recycled. But he's not ready. LOL.
This is just the most wholesome crafty/DIY video I think I have ever watched. You are adorable and so is your love story! Thanks also for this great idea :)
That's precious. I like the way you put the cards in so they could be seen in full and enjoyed without messing them up. And I love the way u guys "alter" your greeting cards. We do that too! Great doggie cartoon, btw!
We just had our wedding anniversary earlier this month and our cards are already tucked into his book. He loves it. They make up very quickly, I'm sure you would enjoy the process. Good luck!
Just found your video. This is perfect - I will be using this idea to store all the lovely cards that my husband and I have exchanged over the years. Thank you for sharing
@@CatherineSunnysideJournals I really really prefer your method of the old book and covering. Do you have any tips or instructions to do your style with the book binding and the rivets that you used?
I love this and I love the way you inserted the cards so you can look at one whole card at a time and then move to the next card. Do you have a tutorial showing how you threaded the binding cords?
I didn't make a video showing that... but it's quite simple: I just looped a continuous string through the upper and lower holes (the ones that are parallel to each other) over and over again until I was happy with what I thought how many cards it could hold, and then tied it in a knot. Then did the same next along the row of eyelets until all the eyelets had lots of loops through them. I hope that makes sense. Let me know if I can explain better.
I love this concept. I create lots of cards for my grands (4 1\4 by 5 1\2 size) for any occasion, and none at all. Thinking readers digests book would be a good size and a good first attempt.
My new daughter in law wants me to make a wedding card junk journal for her and now I know how I am going to go about it! Nice that you can read each card separately!💕
You made me chuckle. Clearly you honor your husband, even if you don't experientially enjoy his sentimentality all the time. In my marriage, I am the sentimental one, so I am searching for what to do with wedding cards (31 years ago!) I want to save, but store in a much more delightful way than another box. So thank you for sharing! You blessed my heart tonight, and you helped me solve a problem. And you did it with such grace. Blessings! :)
This is GREAT and something I should do for hubby and self. But, I don't understand how you got so many cards in there. Did you put many strings through the same sets of eyelets? Thanks
@@CatherineSunnysideJournals Thank you so much for the explanation! I found this interesting, because my husband doesn't want to toss any cards given to him, either. Especially mine, but also from other members of my family. Maybe because most of his family is gone. Thanks again.
I am starting a greeting card journal for my aunts 100th birthday. I see you have six signatures sewn in but many more than 6 cards inside. How is each card sewn in please?
Each card is not sewn in. I put thin elastic loops through each eyelet hole. I believe 5 or 6 per hole. That way each card can be opened and looked at as you go through it just like turning the pages of a book. I'll rewatch the video and see if I can find the spot where I explain this so hopefully my description makes better sense. ~~Catherine
Wondering if the cards are dated on the back by the pricing information. The particular day.month should be obvious by the occasion on the card? Maybe? Looking for ideas to sort my greeting cards. Thank you!
Hi Carole -- I made the journal like a traveler's notebook. There are strings through the eyelets on the spine, and then I tucked the cards through the strings. So they are still movable and removable. It works great!
@@CatherineSunnysideJournals I think this idea is wonderful. After my husband passed on in 2020 I saved all the sympathy cards I received. I didn’t really have a plan for doing anything with them until I watched your video. I now have a plan!! I started sorting the cards by size and shape, then I cut out the return address labels and glued them inside of the card as a reference. Some cards had hand written notes so I’ve decided to add pockets to those pages for the notes. This morning I had an idea to add several photos of my husband, randomly placed, throughout the journal. I’m so excited to work on this project now, I know my children and grandchildren will love seeing it and reading all the lovely stories our friends shared. All this creativity began with your lovely post. Thank you ever so much. I also have a box of greeting cards I received from my husband over the years for holidays, birthdays and anniversaries, that will be another journal project. I’m thinking maybe an altered book would be fun for these cards. Thanks again. Happy Holidays 🎄
A rare trait in a man! Sounds like he's a true treasure. You are both very blessed. Thanks for sharing!
He is definitely a treasure. Thank you so much for watching💕
How precious!! The journal and your husband!!💕❤️🩹

Now that is just about the cutest thing ever! Very sweet

You are so welcome! Thanks for watching! He's filled that one and it's time for me to make a new one. I have a very sentimental fella🥰
This is so great. Love how you can read each card individually!
Thanks. My hubby loves it. He's filled it and it's time for me to make another one.

Beautiful treasures you created for your husband😊Thanks for giving an idea and sharing 👍
I need to make him a new one. He's filled this one and has a whole pile of cards ready for the next book. LOL!
This is too sweet!
I need to make a new one... he has filled this one! 😀
Love it! Great idea! My husband is a sentimental too and I've been looking for a way to keep them close for reminiscing purposes. ❤

Really cool idea!
Absolutely love this idea. I've been searching for a long lasting concept for the same reasons. Thank you for sharing!
Glad it was helpful! Hubby loves his card holder. I need to make him a new one. He's saved MORE since then😄

Oh Natalie what a GREAT idea for wedding cards! Yes, I like being able to read each card. Hubby keeps his book on his night table.

Wow! You are awesome
I love this!! I was hoping you’d share HOW....😉❤️
i wish i had a husband like yours -- i have my cats and they love me

Yes. I put 4 loops of strings through each hole. My hubby LOVES his! It's time for me to make him a new one. Maybe for Christmas this year.

Great idea! How many cards did you put in each eyelet? Tfs, cheers from Oz 😘😎🇦🇺🙃
Thanks! I put 4 in each, but I really think they could handle 5 easily. And cheers from Canada! 😃👍🇨🇦
love it. do you have a tutorial ?
I mostly just turn on my camera every few days and do updates...
How did you bind the cards in the journal?
