What a wonderful video so full of inspiration. It's a joy seeing this journal taking form. I love the inside and outside cover soft bright colours that draw the eye in making us want more. Brilliant using the cards, breathing new life and ideas in to them. Can't wait to watch this gorgeous journal transform and come alive. Thank you for sharing ideas and great video. 👏👏👏👏❤❤❤
Thank you so much for sharing, Kylie! Such a nice project, I like the inside at least as much as the outside. You have created very pretty signatures with your old greeting cards. Thanks again, stay safe, xx
Everything about this journal is fabulous!! Even though journals made with purchased digi kits or scrapbook papers can be lovely, many, many people use the same images but using your own scraps and recycled materials makes this a truly unique journal...my favorite kind of projects, love it! 🎨
Thanks so much Chrisann - I always get a buzz from recycling things. I've no idea how this journal will look when it's finished but I feel certain that it will be one of a kind
A marvelous project. I sure don’t get as many Christmas cards as you, not even in ten years!! So, I’m using ALL the cards I’ve ever gotten to make my journal. I love your signature technique. Thanks, Kylie!
Thanks so much Linda - I have cards going back many years but people are sending fewer these days so my supply will eventually dwindle. Thanks for watching and commenting :)
This is inspired! I not only keep my cards, I save my mother-in-law’s cards, too! First thing I do is cut the backs off to use the signature page for other projects, then I sort and store the fronts by topic. Two years ago I made something similar to this for my favorite Christmas cards. Glad I did because I never decorated the cover or cut those cards apart. This is going to be so much fun going back, rethinking and finishing that book. You and Nina are so inspiring? TFS. I did. God bless and stay safe.
Thanks so much for your kind comment Evelyn. Wow! You are so organised - I'm afraid that my cards just get dumped into a drawer(s) or bags until I get round to using them. Maybe I need to look at the ones I have left (which are many) and try and organise them as you do and maybe then I could use them for a wider range of projects
I love the idea of making journal pages from used cards. I think I'll have to make two journals this year, one like yours and one like Nina's. What fun !
Fabulous idea, Kylie! I have a whole tub of cards I have saved over the years. I love the idea of using up the cards AND left over papers. Keeping great images is a cool aspect of the use of the cards, too. I adore the Pebeo paints and I’m amazed at how long my tubes have lasted. Thanks for inspiring us. I like to use fish line for my cords, lots of thicker braided kinds out there, it is very strong and also slightly flexible but does not get loose and floppy over the years.
I just found your channel here and it's wonderful.Im not on Facebook so a big thankyou to you for sharing all your technique inspiration and creative magic .You are a delight to watch.
Lovely style! I skimmed through about 6 videos on greeting card junk journalling til I found this one. This is closer to the style I'd like to emulate. I really wanted to reach over and be a helpful third hand with the fiddly bit! I have done quite a bit of bookbinding before but I hadn't seen this method, thank you for sharing.
Many thanks Elizabeth - I only throw cards away (or at least put them in the recycling) when I have so many that I get overwhelmed by them. I always try and keep the ones that can't be recycled because they have glitter or whatever on them - that's always easy to paint over. Thanks again
Great journal Kylie! I was thinking of using cards also but never thought of covering them. What a great idea. I will be using this suggestion for sure. Again great creativity!
Kylie - I have many greeting cards - some I would like to save - and this gives a way to store them. Some - I would like to re=purpose. As always - your video is both inspiring - and instructional. You show us very practical techniques - while also inspiring us to creatively find our own spin given the materials we have at hand and our preferences. I'm going to share this video so others can be inspired. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much Mary. You could wrap a binding round many times and store cards individually as a signature. I have a number that I've kept over the years that I should store in that way instead of just leaving them in a drawer. Thanks again :) xo
This is really good, Kylie. What a great idea to reuse Xmas cards like this. I'll certainly bear that in mind for the future - good tip! I think your journal is already looking very good and I look forward to seeing how you fill it. Many thanks as ever.
What a fabulous way to use old Xmas cards, I've tried this in the past with a concertina type journal and it just didn't look right, but this way is fabulous. Tfs xo
Kylie beautuful idea for using cards, ive loads of them, so I will use some of them I think in my signatures, thank you for great tips abd ideas, love the cover too.
That's such a great use of cards and they are great for working on. I love the idea of mixing sewing the signatures and having them removable. I was sold on the elastic but this is the best of both worlds. More decisions lol. Thank you for your inspiration x
Oh yes I really like the card recycling there are so many lovely cards I hate throwing them away! I think I would like to keep them as they are that's my trouble! 😁😁💖
I saw this idea for the first time at Jenniebellie's channel, hers is about 9 years ago, she did paint all over them, I love the way you did this too, it looks so cool!!!💜❤️🤗👍🏻😃💖💜❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💜💜💜💜💜
I love your journal Kylie! Sadly I don’t get many cards but I could always ask family to save theirs for me!😉 I’d like to try this style with mixed media paper though for my art journal. Thanks for a great demo xxx💕
Thanks so much Susie. I have cards going years back so still have a reasonable supply but I think the trend towards not sending cards will mean that we get fewer and fewer in future.
Thank you so much Kylie, I really really love ❤️ your cover. And that’s a really great 👍 idea 💡 using spent Christmas 🎄 cards. I’ve got loads of them, which I really could use. So I’m going to gather up some and see what I can put together. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Wonderful use of cards, great idea☺
Two different takes on constructing both yours and Nina's signatures, great ideas to follow . Thanks Kylie!
Many thanks for watching and commenting Elizabeth :) xo
Your signatures look fabulous Kylie and I look forward to seeing you filling them. So satisfying using junk and scraps 💕 xo

A beautiful cover! What was the paint you used on the interior?
Thank you Kathleen. I used Pebeo Acrylic Iridescent paints - I think mainly using Blue Green and Violet Blue as well as some gold. Hope that helps :)
💖
Cute
Thank you :)
How did you make the binder?
I just ran across this interesting and creative video 7/2/22. Did you make a video on how to make the cover? (I love to listen to you talk!)
I always fantasize about pulling the decorative parts apart from the signed parts and sending them to other folks but I never get around to it
