Sad tough for Austria to not get a focus tree. And even if it is a little tree like a serious alliance with the Italians or reforming Austria Hungary from the Austrian side would be so cool. That would still be possible because the nations that can declare war through focuses are may I say kind of easy to defeat for Austria? Hungary ofc is a bit harder but they have a teribble army till 1937-1938 and If switzerland demands vorarlberg you can say no because that is pretty defendable terrain I would say. Very sad that it didn‘t get one.
i assume it’s bc of Anschluss. i bet it was probably easier to just not do austria bc you would basically have to turn historical ai off to have a game. unless they made a way to avoid Anschluss idk

My trepidation about Switzerland getting content over other _actual WWII belligerents_ continues with the alt history content. Now when you disable Historical AI you'll have Switzerland taking random provinces and just generally derailing any reasonable AI behavior from the majors around them.

we got a swiss focus tree, portugal focus tree and turkey focus tree. The country that didn't even participate in WW2. But yet we still didn't get belgium focus tree which got invaded and occupied.

Well, National Socialism and Fascism are much more similar than the government of Imperial Japan (which was not even Fascist). With both Hungary and Switzerland, it's because Germany forces the anschluss while Hungary has historical reasons and Switzerland wants to protect it, and I see it more as an union of alpine countries

I think it has to do with the fact that the treaty of Versailles explicitly says "no Anschluss". The troops are there as a confidence boost.

To answer something, Switzerland did do something in WW2 and that was shoot down allied and axis bombers (and accidentally get bombed by allies on the border because they thought it was Germany)
The swiss did do stuff in wwII. They shot down some allied planes that violated swiss airspace and then Schaffhausen was accidentally bombed.
The thing is Schaffhausen was bombed but Konstanz the German city next to it not because they thought it was swiss
