Honestly i love how they are making puppets viable. It's interesting to see how this can be expanded
Yeah, I hate those decisions / focuses that just make you a puppet for no gain. For instance, at the end of the Czechoslovakia submissive route, you can make yourself a German puppet. Aside from a roleplay reason, I have no clue why you would want to choose that. It doesn’t unlock anything, you don’t benefit in anyway, and you have all the negatives of now being a puppet. Same goes for Warlords choosing to submit to Japan and become a puppet.

I hope they arrange some resources at the Africa as well. I don't think without the resources you can do much even if you get big in Africa.
This is needed. Even as a European nation there isn't much of a reason to take Africa besides kicking out other nations.

The fact that you can peace deal imperial nations in the liberation wars is a gamechanger. It's annoying to have to take London and Washington DC over colonial territories in Africa and the Middle East. I wish they implemented such a feature for the communist South African path
These seem incredibly interesting, shame the soviet path makes you a puppet, though I guess the spanish soviet one does too. Definitely going to have to give this one a try, DLC looks pretty good sofar.
I'd hope it's more like communist Spain's path where they just politely request the Soviet Union to allow full independence and the Soviets pretty much always accept.
the fascist path reminds me of fascist czechoslovakia but better since its not just "hey germany here have sudetenland" "uhh thanks"
Basically a lot of Italy running their colonies like many other states tried to, using native power structures and "protectorates" over existing kingdoms and tribes to help divide and rule, just taken to a HUGE extreme

My campaigns: AI resistance averaging 60% in every state, extremely low compliance, AI losing all manpower to garrisons.
I'm not sure what games you're playing, the AI sucks at managing resistance.

@@fieldmarshalbaltimore1329 if you play anarchist spain, you get a very special economy law that is very op, even better than total mob. in my opinion, but tbf it kinda off sets you being an anarchist with zero stability

Barcelona in Spain was heavily anarchist and it functioned . If that could be functional in that region then it can be upscaled to work for an entire nation.
It would presumably be rather weak militarily and would more than likely only be able to defend and not project its power though.
There's also the chance that it could get taken over because of its constant weak military state as well. Power does not allow for vacuums for long periods of time typically
The CNT-FAI was actually pretty competent, their main issue was that the Stalinists in the Republican government refused to ever issue them useful amounts of equipment, so they had morale for days, but little to fight with.
@@Horizontalvertigo you should really consult other sources... That wasn't the case at all, just look for what Durruti said about joining the Republican Army just before he died under "misterious conditions"
@@KryZehk as far as I know his column was basically just put on to the Republican's books rather than him changing sides as you may've meant to imply, I don't know the quote you're referring to, so I'll be glad to learn it.
But I'll restate my position: of the ragtag populist forces fighting against Franco's trained troops, the Anarchist detachments had, on average, excellent morale, but severe equipment shortages, and acquitted themselves honourably despite that.
And it's not like I'm unaware that the mainstream reading of the war is that the CNT-FAI were little better than bandits most of the time
I'm really happy to see this, I have always thought playing as a puppet should be more interesting. Hopefully they update the old submitting as a puppet focuses for the Czechs and such. Also I think it's cool that that the collaboration focus uses Ethiopian claims, to legitimize Italian claims on parts of Africa.
The Fascist path is basically becoming Manchukuo.

16:53 If you use them in the strictest senses of both words you could potentially be a member of an anarchist nation. You just would be effectively an ethnic group without representation by choice.
Also in this game the global defense council exists which is the anarchist path in the Spanish Civil War. Who can also potentially core all land.

When I'm bored, if I choose to play Hoi4, I always go for an anarchist spain run. Something about Anarchism and coring the world speaks to me.
(That and now that I think about it, I've probably only joined the Comintern less than 10 times since 2016, which considering my hours, that's very very little)
The African Union LARP, oh my, I literally played Communist SAF early last month doing this, puppeting all of Africa after defeating the Allies and Axis. Afterwards I did a cheat game where I painstakingly added Ethiopian cores for all of Africa using commands (didn't cheat the Italian war though), was quite fun.
This is going to be awesome.

Super excited for this DLC, if only to buff the sad Italian Focus Tree. I hope the next DLC involves South America. Brazil and Argentina could have some really cool focus trees.

I really like the idea of a vengeful victorious Ethiopia stoking rebellion all across colonized Africa.
I actually like that it railroads you to another path if you don't successfully convince Italy, that's far better than how things used to be with focus trees where the AI doing something would often completely lock you out of the rest of your focus tree.

Why in the world would Fascist Italy have ever given up Eretria to a 'Fascist Ethiopia'? Eritreans disliked Ethiopians, even many to this day do, and it was Italy's first African colony (since the fall of the Roman Empire), and the Eritreans loved Italians more than any other Africans did. There were plenty of Italians living there as well.

Anarchist Spain is one of my favorite playable nations, it can get cores On The Whole Planet! So i‘m very excited for trying anarchist Ethiopia 😍
I really like what they're doing with the puppet submission options in these trees, really giving good incentives in order to make sure it's not a completely useless path no one takes and I hope we see more of that in future to make people actually think about what paths they're taking instead of just one path that snowballs into super meme country and everything else is just RP flavor with mediocre gains
game needs better peace offering stuff. so annoying being a puppet in a civil war and you have to end like 4 majors just to get independence--and due to how the game works you get to own foreign territories too.
It's always so disappointing when I notice it's a dev diary only after I clicked :D.
