  • Pandora, (Greek: "All-Gifts") is the first woman in Greek mythology. According to Hesiod's Theogony, after Prometheus, a fire god and divine trickster, had stolen fire from heaven and given it to mortals, Zeus, the god's king, determined to counteract this blessing.
Prometheus, one of the Titans (these gods came before the Olympians and lived on Mount Othrys, not Mount Olympus), was given the task of creating humanity by Zeus (Roman Jupiter) King of the Olympians, making it out of water and earth, and his brother, Epimetheus, was given the task of creating animals.
