- What is accounting? And, why is it important? Accountants compile, analyze, and explain data that's ultimately used to make critical business decisions. So when the boardroom heats up, the accountant gets to work by asking the right people the right questions and delivering keen insight when it's needed most!
i’ll graduate in May 2023 with an associates in finance and accounting. i cannot wait to get into this field of work! it has been my dream for the longest!!!! i’m so eager to learn new tactics and information on how to become a better accountant from other accountants i meet in the future. Being a chartered accounting aspirant, I would say Accounting is not easy at all until you understand its practical approach

The hardest part of accounting is the work load, the actual accounting is easy.. but when you work for a company like Walmart or Target that sells 100+ products, has 20+ vendors and every other week is a sale.. AND a not so productive team, it gets ugly lol

That is just a part of accounting field. There’s a lot of careers u could choose from for being an accountant but first u have a attain a certification to advance ur competitors like CPA certification or if u want to work in finance u can choose CFA or both.
Usually management consultants are the ones who help businesses analyze the market before deciding to launch a new product. The finance people do the forecasting and analyze the time it takes to recoup the investment. And accountants really just look at historical financials after the fact.

This video does not accurately reflect what Accountants do. Accountants are hired to deal with convoluted rules and to do the record keeping for people. Its not glamorous and we could not tell you whether or not you should sell markers until you've sold them for at least 5 years and demonstrated profitability or a trend toward it.
And most accountants do not forecast st all. There are controllers, CFOs etc
What shown in this video is CFO field. Majority of accountants just doing record.
So who makes the predicitions finance majors? I don't think so as they evolve around the question on how to finance the company not necessiraly it's financial health like accountants. Also from what I hear from a lot of billlionnaires is that they wish they studied accounting because it really the "engineering of business". Also most CFO comes from accounting background. Also, CPAS tend to have serious knowledge on corporate law and fiscality, wich make them able to make very strategic financial decisions for the company.

in fact, accounting only contains basic math such as addition, subtraction, and division (multiplying often involved in percentages) and yeah, it’s easier since we have calculators!
Being good at making and organizing spreadsheets is another fundamental skill when you’re an accountant, and you also need to have knowledge about statistics and constructing presentations~
Accounting has no math. Basic math doesnt count.
Math doesn't need in accounting, it requires your deep genuine analyzation of the financial transactions

It’s hysterical that this video is saying an accountant makes the decision on long term company trajectory.
The accountant reports to the controller/comptroller. The controller reports to the CFO. The CFO makes the decision after providing his teams prepared reports and consulting with the CEO.
As an accountant, you sit at a desk all day crunching and reporting numbers. They are low man on the totem pole for large corporate initiatives.

Cause' by corporate law they must wear and behave like that or else... As well when they become priavte accountants - it hust becomes a habit. Why I did not want to be part of the corporate world just go digital nomad straight away.
