This show was so well crafted. It's really a shame they didn't keep it going. I think it said one too many politically unpopular things and got panned. Critics couldn't handle the fact that they sometimes felt sympathy towards a character they didn't instinctively agree with 100% of the time. Too much uncomfy nuance for them.

they should have introduced the guests as "Straw Man 1," "Straw Man 2," and "Straw Woman." Balding guy openly listing out a bunch of racial slurs like it's an argument. Dude sitting in his living room with a rifle who lets the host answer for him. The woman's "I'm and ameriCAN not an ameriCAN'T" line. It's the same boring straw man that we saw in the West Wing with characters like governor Ritchie or congressman Gibson, who in one scene literally steps out of the shadows to reveal himself like some neocon ghoul. Sorkin's political writing has convinced me that he's never met someone who disagrees with him. There's so much dumb stuff said by right wingers, it would be more valuable if this clip/show focused on the actually dangerous things they say rather than just playing with slogans like we see here.

He does this for money, the more people he makes mad the more money he gets Ben Shapiro is the the one you should be referring to as a corporate stooge because he is, and the only day in his career he hasn't been was the very first one he worked. I decided to buy and watch this show about a year ago (in 2019) after having seen that now famous 'America is not the greatest country in the world'-clip.
About halfway through the first season I suddenly became aware that it wasn't a brand new show, but that it was 7 years old.... And continuously throughout the three seasons I kept having to reconfirm that fact to myself. Because it just seemed impossible that a tv-show could be THAT MUCH right on the money!
This scene is one out of many that had me AGAIN look for the production year, just to make sure I didn't read it wrong all the times before.

As timely as it still is today, it was so much moreso at time. SB 1070 from this clip was an actual Arizona law that legalized racial profiling and checking people's immigration papers based entirely on cops' discretion as to whether it was likely that they were illegal immigrants (whether there was "reasonable suspicion," in legal terms).
      More info about it:
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arizona_SB_1070
It was argued before the Supreme Court on 25 April 2012 and decided 25 June 2012. This episode aired 1 July 2012. Six days after the decision. _SIX DAYS._
